She may have turned into an evil spirit, but Arthur was the first and only one who attempted to understand what she went through and do something for her.

I don't think it's a reward. Just before a Arthur's death she literally says "never forgive never forget." Proving she didn't care. Instead she tried to kill his son and leave him in a life of misery but the thing is she didn't expect him to leap onto the tracks and so she lost. Instead of Arthur feeling misery he has been reunited with his family and he is happy and that final scene is her looking in anger as she has lost.
@prinniesforeveryone it seems you're one of those kinda of people and I don't blame you but honestly the nun was bad Here's why? Relying on jumpscares and running through the dark doesn't really make the movie any better It's so predictable ohhh more scare, dark darkkkk. But when you have some good plot that doesn't need jumpscares to push your dumb horror movie that's what I call a good horror movies.
The way I see the ending she wanted to kill his son in front of him and the fact he was selfless in sacrificing himself defeated her plan so he got the "good" afterlife ending
Yeah I am kinda disappointed he didn't talk about this. That his son gets to go with him to be with his wife instead of being trapped with the woman like the other children.
Yes exactly. So arthur defeated her and she couldn't claim his son. Like the many children she done claimed. Lady in black wasn't expecting him to jump on the tracks. I think she wanted Arthur to feel misery like the other parents. The Other parents weren't around Their children when she unfortunately took their lives, in exception of arthur. Therefore i think at the end..she was giving him more of the evil eye lol cuz even in death, he was still able to save his son(spiritually) & he was reunited with his wife and found happiness. Where they were able to walk away and weren't victims trapped in her curse like the rest of the children on the platform. So her bitter ass lost at the end and knew she couldn't touched them..and wife played a huge part of being their guardian angel was already protecting them & waiting at the end to claim them😏❤
Man Arthur's a bad ass you're telling me he saw a little kid rise up out of the grave and jugle the front door knob... and he still opened it WTF and he also ran into a burning building to save someone he is practically likely hero material

With TWIB it’s beyond the simple act of returning her son. She seen what happened, she knew where the body was in life and never attempted to retrieve him. So to me this isn’t about the kid it never was. The woman was always filled with anger and hatred (the letters) she was never happy or satisfied I doubt in death it would change. She cursed herself long before her sons death, his death just solidified it. And the end wasn’t positive she didn’t intend for him to go after his son like everyone else she wanted him to suffer, her face still shown grief and malice. Again she has no humanity at this point her soul can’t be redeemed. It would have been nice to think she did it out of kindness but she didn’t. You guys are putting humanity in a place where it’s void
I really like how the end of the movie subverted my expectations. I didn't expect both Arthur and his son to end up dying. I interpreted the end of the movie as the Woman failing to spread her pain to Arthur. In accidentally killing him she brought him happiness once more.
I feel like this was a thank you, the woman in black knew he was suffering without his love just like she was suffering without a child. He was the only one to sit down and understand, made that connection to her. He set out to help her, to rest her spirit but the pain will never move on unless in the spirit world she was reunited will the son. The son spirit was lost. As a thank you for atleast trying she gave him his heart wish, which was to see his wife along with bringing the kid with him. She stares at him at the end cause she knows he is reunited and don’t have to hurt anymore.
No. I don't think she would be so kind. She actually wants to kill his kid to make him feel what it's like to loss a son. She always says 'never forgive', so it's pretty much obvious she is very vengeful. What she doesn't expect that Arthur would jump after his child. Well, he is pretty much suicidal after his wife die. So, since he is with his son at the time of death and his wife always guarding him, she couldn't get his son soul like other children's. It explains how she kinda look pissed at the end. Although he doesn't solve anything, it kinda brings peace to Arthur being with his wife, with his son, again.

I haven't seen either. But hear me out. You should do Midnight Meat Train, in collaboration with Dead Meat. It rings off the ears well, "Midnight Meat Train With Dead Meat"
The ending to me isn't a bad ending but instead a nice but upsetting ending yes the women caused them both to die however in doing so reunited Arthur and his son with their wife/mother. In a sense it's a weird version of kindness as Arthur was hunted by the death of his wife. Arthur helped the women in black reunite with her dead son, so in return she reunites the broken family with their dead wife/mother
Sadly that’s not true, the woman did not kill Arthur and His son to reunite them, she never forgave Arthur, even after he reunited her with her son. Before Arthur’s death she’s heard in the house saying “Never forgive never forgive” this shows she doesn’t care about Arthur or his son and she’s going to kill them anyway which she does, the ending shot of her face is pure hatred because Arthur came out the winner and got to be with his family again, which is exactly what she had hoped wouldn’t happen.
Has Found Flix ever done "Train To Busan" I searched and didn't find it, would love to see him cover it. Also great summary of Woman In Black - Thanks for this
the woman in black also has a play that is performed in the Fortune Theatre in London and the play was out before the film, both the play and the film focus on different aspects with the film focusing more on the children and the affects they experience where as the play tends to focus on the woman in black herself, two half of the same story
@@AvatarBliss I know that's what makes it so good, I've lost track of how many times I've seen it and they change the timing of the jump scares for every viewing so your never too sure when it's gonna happen
For Arthur to “Learn the feeling of the loss of a child the hard way”... wouldn’t be need to be left alive to be driven mad by the grief? Seems like the woman was actually freeing him from the beginning of the madness of losing his wife (the blade to the neck in the beginning) by reuniting them. To me the “never forget” was about her not forgetting the act of kindness he attempted by giving her her son’s body... and essentially returning the favour of KNOWING his wife would be on the other side, and bringing them together. But I’m also an idiot so who knows.
She wasn't saying "never forget" though, she was saying "never forgive" like she said in the letter to her sister, which suggests that she has become that hateful that she can't be put to rest. Her resentment surpassed her grief over her son and she turned her tragedy into something malicious. The peaceful ending for Arthur is likely fate rewarding his enduring kindness. His losses didn't keep him from being a pure person (the kind of person who would see a baby bird suffering outside its nest and gently return it home, And the kind of person who would risk everything to reunite a grieving mother with her lost son). She tried to inflict her pain on others, but his kindness granted him peace in the afterlife with his wife and his murdered son. The blade to the neck thing was probably to show that while his grief tempts him to die, he fights on and does what he must for whatever and whomever he has left. She made the other choice. She ended her life and was ultimately worse off for it; death did not cure her pain. That's just my take on it.
I've always looked at the end similarly. He brought her family together, so she did the same. A person can still be evil, but return an act of kindness.

My wife and i watched this on our first date, i love terrible horror movies, she loved Daniel Radcliff. 8 years later and we have a 3 year old girl along with a newborn on the way... Thank you terrible movie.
People should make a movie that is truly terrifying movie, but the protagonist is a no-nonsense guy who doesn’t care, I feel like that would be a cool movie.
Cheesy Taters Lol I’ve always wondered what a horror movie would be like if the protagonist just didn’t get scared. But Kurt Russel plays a no nonsense protagonist in The Thing if you wanna watch that.
The Thing and Alien 1&2 and Event Horizon are the only ones I can think of when it comes to no-nonsense heroes facing horror/menacing threat and mostly keep their cool.
“Even considering the release of the death that would reconnect him with his lost love” this is why I love the channel you know how to word things perfectly , my dumbass would of just said “homie had the big sad because his girl left him so he was about yeet himself off the planet”
Maybe it isn’t a negative ending, it’s sad that there weren’t an alternative but in the end his family is reunited, The Lady in Black did not claim his son as she did so many others. My guess is because he and his son already had a soul in the afterlife to claim them, all the Lady in Black could do is watch.
Not to mention there was a moment where his dead wife was seen inside the house, almost trying to protect him. I almost took her face as disgust as both Arthur and his son were reunited with his wife/mother.
I thing it's just Arthur being a bad father in the end at the train station. No actual sensible parent would leave their 5 yo kid free at a place like a train boarding platform to wander freely. Especially after they know the kid to be in danger. Not a parent yet, but wouldn't let a kid run around like that. Also the nanny is equally useless. Even if Arthur got really thankful & focused on the rich guy, the nanny is standing free right there, should have caught the kid. If anything, the nanny should be more anxious to look after the kid, but a real life Arthur would lift his kid up on his arms & only let go in the train seat.
I found this channel by needing an actual ending explained and stayed to watch every video of both movies I haven’t seen or movies I knew exactly what happened.
I really don't like your take on the end, TWIB wasn't in control the whole time, she meant for Arthur to lose his child and live on, just like the rest of the adult victims, but Arthur chose to die with his son and so unlike TWIB, is never separated from him, hence why she watches him jealously as he goes to Heaven with his wife and son. In the end Arthur got the happy ending, and TWIB is forced to carry on her torturous existence because she couldn't let go of her hatred and be with her son, like Arthur could.
TWIB was NOT jealous looking... More SATISFIED! She killed his son and him in the process and no matter if the film depicts a happy "after life image", the truth is TWIB will CONTINUE to kill Childrens!
I remember watching this movie when it came out, I was around ten. I didn’t sleep for two days, I was shaking like a leaf. I never wanted to watch again. Like damn!
I believe Arthur returning her son's body did have an effect, since after the death of him and his son they reunite with his wife and walk off together while the Woman in Black watches, while all the other children she's killed are trapped and linked to her curse unable to move on.
In the Original Play, Arthur survived and i THINK his family survived too? Because he made it home? I don’t remember if Arthur’s family lives in the play. But I know the man he’s writing a play *about* it with loses his family. It’s a great play
@@kylebear8101 in book and play Arthur child is killed when woman in black causes horse to get scared wreck the carriage on tree killing child instantly and Stella critically injured dies ten months later.
That's how I always interpreted it. If her intention was for Arthur to suffer then having him spend a happy afterlife with his son wouldn't really make any sense. You could argue that she didn't anticipate him trying to save his son but that would be a total lack of common sense on her part. It is kind of strange that she even knew he had a wife who had died though.
honestly i see the ending as an act of kindness in return for arthur’s attempt at kindness for her. the way she looks at them walking away to me seems like she’s almost happy that they’ve been reunited, i think she knew arthur would die as well so did what she did to reunite the family
I dont think she wanted to kill arthur, she wanted to thank him for reuniting her with her boy by reuniting his whole family even if it means in the afterlife
I think that, unlike more positive horror tropes, reuniting a dead woman with her dead child doesn’t really help. I mean, imagine somebody killed somebody close to you and then gave you their body, saying: “Here you go, be at peace now.”
Based on a common theme in some movies maybe her thirst for revenge slowly corrupted her and made her lose her humanity and nothing can bring her from that place.
Temira B. In my head-canon: Her vow to never forgive is the curse that turned her into the woman in black. She cursed herself into this wraithlike state and is now a being made only of hatred and pain. She can never forgive, therefore she can never be at peace.
@@SB-xz5yn Have you never heard of people spending YEARS trying to get killers to tell where their victims bodys are? I see your the point but you are really down playing tge idea of closure.
I can never usually get the full story when watching movies likes this, usually preparing for the next jump scare to pay attention. Great to actually finally know the story behind the Woman in Black.
Sure, they died in the end and all, but Arthur will be with his family in the afterlife, which is what the woman in black wants the most but can never get because she'll never be at peace
I know you already did a poll for the two movies, and I still loved the one that you did, but I would love if you did a video on Thirteen Ghost. It's a surprisingly good ghost story for its time. Keep up the good work!
The second scared the hell out of me when I first saw it. My friend and I were watching it with subtitles which were slightly ahead of the action, it worked out well since neither of us had a heart attack. You think this one is jump scare heavy? Just watch the second one.
I watched this in theater, and thought it was really fantastic. I thought the ending was... bittersweet. It was amazing that they went with that choice, and it surprised me in a good way. A lot of people tend to think of "dying" as a sad end but in a way he did "save" his son, at least in spirit (HA!) and was able to go with him, keeping him safe, even in the afterlife. In the end he and his son were reunited with his wife, able to walk off together with a smile on their faces. Not only that, but I think it was a way to show that death isn't some kind of punishment for the ones who she kills- which is supported by the fact that the kids aren't afraid of her, even though they're the ones that are being killed- because it's not the kids the lady wants to punish, but the parents. The kids standing in the train window aren't tormented, but accusatory. The people who see them are supposed to be tormented.

This is one of the few horror movies that has really stuck with me over time. Something about the woman in black herself just really got under my skin! Recommend the stage play too - such a simple ghost story but an effective haunt.
My take on the ending was not that she had managed to claim another child so in addition to an adult, but through the father's effort in the end he managed to save his child from being captured by her. In this ultimate selfless act by the parent, she is envious and defeated

The thing is that though she killed them since Harry Potter went to save his son, and not just leave him to die like what seems to be what happened to all the others (I mean just where were these parents??), the two of them were allowed to move on to the afterlife and not be stuck with her like the other poor children she killed. @prinniesforeveryone The nun was dumb. It was just some people walking in dark rooms and then SPOOK.
Christopher Bennett im not gonna lie it scared the shit outta me lmaoooo I love both movies
@prinniesforeveryone it seems you're one of those kinda of people and I don't blame you but honestly the nun was bad
Here's why?
Relying on jumpscares and running through the dark doesn't really make the movie any better
It's so predictable
ohhh more scare, dark darkkkk.
But when you have some good plot that doesn't need jumpscares to push your dumb horror movie that's what I call a good horror movies.
prinniesforeveryone lol how old are you. Try Annabelle Creation. The nun was boring as hell
when you realize that The Woman In Black isn’t a spin-off of Men in Black.
-XD-
Lol
When I first saw this when I was little me and my little sister thought it was a spin off of men in black just as women
😂
There’s also a play
The way I see the ending she wanted to kill his son in front of him and the fact he was selfless in sacrificing himself defeated her plan so he got the "good" afterlife ending
Yeah I am kinda disappointed he didn't talk about this. That his son gets to go with him to be with his wife instead of being trapped with the woman like the other children.
Also got out of the sin he would eventually commit in suicide, where he would not be able to be with his family.
So her bitter ass lost at the end and knew she couldn't touched them..and wife played a huge part of being their guardian angel was already protecting them & waiting at the end to claim them😏❤
In the Original Play, the Story goes That if you see the woman in black, your child will die soon so…
Man Arthur's a bad ass you're telling me he saw a little kid rise up out of the grave and jugle the front door knob... and he still opened it WTF and he also ran into a burning building to save someone he is practically likely hero material
Yeah. Same here. I would have bolted.
What do you expect, he's a griffindor😉

I thought the same thing and I was a little happy
You guys are putting humanity in a place where it’s void
poggers
Good analysis
I agree
Olivia Burres I agree. She was a evil spirit not misunderstood.
Makes sense ... it took two men about twenty minutes to find the boys body and it had never been searched for by his mother
I really like how the end of the movie subverted my expectations. I didn't expect both Arthur and his son to end up dying. I interpreted the end of the movie as the Woman failing to spread her pain to Arthur. In accidentally killing him she brought him happiness once more.
You should 100% read the book, or at least the ending. A very different ending and one I'd argue is even better
It's actually kinda a nice ending when you put it like that tbh I gotta agree with it to bad she herself will keep hurting
That’s exactly what I thought!! I mean it makes sense with the way she watches them walk off as a whole family again
No way his wife was protecting him the whole time, the WIB screamed at the end because she was angry she didn't get the sons soul
@@AirQuotes that's what I thot
Moral of the story for this film: Harry Potter should've stayed in wizard school.

Yeah, I agree, the ending was the happiest part of the film to me
Sadly that’s not true, the woman did not kill Arthur and His son to reunite them, she never forgave Arthur, even after he reunited her with her son.

Stop saying things that make you weak, it was a fair analysis.

@@KattsCreativeCrochetCorner Do you have a clip where his wife's seen in the house?? Or do you remember what part that happened at?
I thought she reunited them on purpose. "you reunite my family, I reunite yours. Thanks."

I believe Arthur returning her son's body did have an effect, since after the death of him and his son they reunite with his wife and walk off together while the Woman in Black watches, while all the other children she's killed are trapped and linked to her curse unable to move on.
this makes sense
In the Original Play, Arthur survived and i THINK his family survived too? Because he made it home? I don’t remember if Arthur’s family lives in the play. But I know the man he’s writing a play *about* it with loses his family. It’s a great play
@@kylebear8101 in book and play Arthur child is killed when woman in black causes horse to get scared wreck the carriage on tree killing child instantly and Stella critically injured dies ten months later.
I genuinely thought she killed Arthur and his son as a way to reunite them with his wife who was, in a way, the same as she was but less vengeful.
I think she did as ah thank you for giving her her son but she wasn't going to stop hurting.

I dont think she wanted to kill arthur, she wanted to thank him for reuniting her with her boy by reuniting his whole family even if it means in the afterlife
When I was younger, I remember seeing an ad for this and almost crying, because I was so terrified.
Why would she kill his son after he did all that for her?
She's just straight up evil
I kinda of feel like, since he was also lost after the death of his wife, maybe she was uniting him and his son in return.
Temira B. In my head-canon:
Her vow to never forgive is the curse that turned her into the woman in black. She cursed herself into this wraithlike state and is now a being made only of hatred and pain.
She can never forgive, therefore she can never be at peace.

They made a sequel to this movie?
Jeff Dinvell yep!
This actually creeped me out! Didn’t even watch the movie. Just this video.

The thing is that though she killed them since Harry Potter went to save his son, and not just leave him to die like what seems to be what happened to all the others (I mean just where were these parents??), the two of them were allowed to move on to the afterlife and not be stuck with her like the other poor children she killed. At least that's what I got from this film. Its kinda amusing that in the old horror movie The Lady in White, reuniting the mother and child does equal a happy ending.
