- Today we are doing some Weed Control, specifically for Nutsedge. Weed Control is critical at this point in the lawn season and nutsedge is something that requires a very specific treatment. SedgeHammer + Herbicide is the goto remedy.

☀️Good stuff! 👍 noticed a couple of those in my yard yesterday, too. Man, the heat down here in Bama has been brutal, too! 💪
The back yard is done for the season. Will have to figure out what is next in September. Hang in there!
Found your channel through the Ginja. I live in Knoxville, so it's good to finally find a channel that'll have relevant content for me. I have a nutsedge issue, so I came here first.
Thanks for watching! And SedgeHammer is definitely the way to go.
I'm so glad I've never had a nutsedge problem. If I did I would definitely use sedgehammer. You keep that heat down there Dino. I melt in the heat.. 🤣
Luckily this year the nutsedge hasn't been too bad. But the heat has been relentless. PRG is completely dead. We'll figure out what's next in September.
@@TheLawnShark that's a bummer about the PRG.
I only have nutsedge in a flower bed along the neighbor strip. Going to use this and see if the other neighbor will let me spot spray his yard cos he has it all over. Luckily not in my grass! 😂
That's a good idea. The packet covers a lot of ground!
I use ortho for nutsedge 2 days starts to turn brown comes with hose end sprayer no mixing no cleanup just works
Good to know. Thanks!
@@TheLawnShark just used it the other day then cut the grass with bag
Tenacity will work on Nutsedge too but I plan on using sedgehammer as well.
Good to know! Thanks!
Sedgehammer is more specific to Nutsedge and as both are expensive I go straight for Sedgehammer.
Tenacity didn’t help me lol trying sedgehammer as we speak
Hi there! Do you happen to know if this also works for prevention? LIke say to PREVENT more from growing in between my paver rocks?
I would not use it as a preventative because I would only add a chemical to my lawn that needs it. I suppose you could, but I personally would not.
Is this ok to do with flowerbeds?
I am not sure. I would spot spray just to make sure.
I have a a few spots of nutsedge and glad I saw this video. Is it to early to use?
I don't think it's too early. Better to try to control it early than wait until it's out of control! But you may have to deal with it again later in the season. It's a year issue for me.
@@TheLawnShark thanks. I ordered some from Amazon and should be here tomorrow. Will be trying it out and see how it goes. Thanks again for your wisdom.
@@HangryPandaMike Hope it works for you! Happy to help.
I'm gonna try this stuff because it looks like. I have a sedge hammer farm in my front yard. Your other grass looked pretty Brown in the video. I'm wondering if it killed that too? I've tried a bunch of stuff and nothing seems to work.
This video was done back when I was in the process of changing away from my failed KBG lawn, which explains all the brown. SedgeHammer is extremely safe for most grass type. But this works every time in killing Nutsedge and I highly recommend it.
Can you still run sprinklers in the am or just stop the watering
Yes you can.
Apparently you didn’t read the instructions about wearing the proper PPE - gloves, mask, long sleeves, long pants, even laundry instuctions.
Oh, I read the instructions!!! I just chose to ignore them hoping you would be so bold to remind me! What would I do without you?? I am forever in your debt!
The reason I mentioned this was my brother got non-Hodgkin lymphoma probably due lawn chemicals. He survived but it was tough. Just trying to keep the readers safe.
@@dangeary4976 And I appreciate that. I try to remind people they need to read the labels. I just show what I’m doing in my lawn, but everyone needs to take responsibility for their own actions. I don’t do this professionally, so I only use these products for my lawn and usually only once, maybe twice, per year.
Is the black stuff just topsoil at the end? Man I hope this stuff doesn't stain the grass or anything cuz i just sprayed it!
The black is compost. It does not stain the grass. In fact, I have never seen any discoloration of the grass in my lawn from this product.
What exactly do you do after the yellowing and brown has occurred...should you remove it thatch it? I'm just curious
I actually removed it with a dethatching rake. I forgot to film it, but I do mention it in an upcoming seeding video.
@@TheLawnShark I appreciate the feedback and prompt response… 👍🏽
I used TzoneSE last month 6/3 for creeping charlie and it worked but now i have some not a lot nutsedge(neighbor's is full). Can i use sledgehammer this month? I should the whole lawn rt just like i did with Tzone.? Thanks
I am not sure I would use TZone so soon. For nutsedge alone, I would used the SedgeHammer.
@TheLawnShark eve though it hasn't come up all the way. Wait?
@@HEAVENLYTUNESDJANGEL Yes, I would wait. Just don't pull it.
@@TheLawnShark ok thanks
Can u use this on Bluegrass?
Probably, but I would check the label first. You can look at the label by going to domyown.com and looking up the product.
First and hate nutsedge
Me too! 👊
Did kill your grass?
No, not at all.
@@TheLawnShark Thank you Good job your yard looks great . I will order that soon . Was going to try Image . I have well water just concerned about water .
look like it kill some grass too
No, not at all. The Bermuda in the front yard was 100% untouched and the Fescue in the back was already on the struggle bus. It was not because of the SedgeHammer.
