    I applied sedgehammer to my lawn, which is a mix of Bermuda and St. A. It took a few weeks to fully kill the nutsedge and it worked great.

  • @maxsax6789
    @maxsax6789 25 дней назад +4

    It ... worked! I used the Sedgehammer and Surffactant combination is it basically got rid of 100% of the areas that I sprayed within just a few days. Since I have basically the entire bottle left, I am tempted to go around and apply this to all my neighbors ... almost every lawn in the neighborhood has the weed growing.

    I will try Sedgehammer again, I think it worked the first time but If you don't keep up they do come back, espesicially when you have to water other plants in that same area. I think it's best not to give nutsedge any water at all and the herbicide will work even better.

    I have found that if you have ANY WEED in an area that you can spray liberally as this man did at his fence in the back yard, where you can spray and not worry about killing any grass,plants or anything else growing , go to a hardware store( I go to Tractor Supply) and get a gallon of 30% vinegar(about $20) put it in a sprayer of your choice( I use a 16 or 32 oz sprayer) put enough of the 30% vinegar in your sprayer close tightly and go spray whatever it is you’re wanting to kill it WILL KILL IT by the time you’re up in the morning and go check on it …the weeds will be snow white and dead! I stopped buying expensive chemicals…but, make no mistake,you CANNOT SPRAY the 30% vinegar and it touch ANYTHING ELSE that is growing as it too will die!!! DO NOT spray this 30% vinegar as this gentleman did with the sledgehammer as ALL OF YOUR GRASS that the vinegar hits will KILL IT! Best wishes on killing your weeds. P.S. the vinegar you get at the supermarket(usually 3-4% vinegar WILL NOT DO THE JOB…you must get the 30% vinegar!

    • @treasuredLawn
      @treasuredLawn  25 дней назад +1

      Absolutely! Only reason I used the sedgeghammer on those ones in the gravel was because I already had the mix up but I wanted to see the product work on the individual weed. Sometimes when it’s mixed in the grass it’s hard to see. Vinegar is a great weed killer if it’s not in grass

    SedgeHammer definitely works. But if you're cheap like me and you have some time, you can do it all natural with a little effort.
    I use a simple narrow jet blast of water to blast the dirt away and get down to the nut and roots.
    Just grab the stem with your fingers and blast the water down the stem and you can slide your fingers down and eventually find the nut and roots. Yes, it's a little messy, but you don't need a powerful blast, just enough to blast away the dirt and slide your fingers down the hole. The dirt will flow right back in for the most part. But it's free and very satisfying, and maybe borderline fun to grab the nuts and roots and pluck them out whole.

      Hmmm idk nutsedge is crazy I have seen it come through some extremely thick weed barriers even those tarp like ones. @@treasuredLawn thanks for your reply. I was thinking more of using the tarp to smother the entire area including the grass. Then starting over by removing the dead debris best I can, add a bit of new soil and grass seed. The weed has been growing yearly to what is now 90% coverage. I don't think I would have much to lose with killing it all and starting over. Maybe I'll add some vinegar in the equation to make sure the nutsedge is totally killed off? My concern is how resilient those little seeds are.

    Tell me how to kill morning glory. It is such a pain and grows 4 to 7 inches per day. I spend my summer saturday mornings pulling it. I've tried steaming the roots, weed killer, etc... it kills the surface weed, but doesn't pen the root system.

    • @treasuredLawn

    Did you have to turn off your irrigation so you don't wash it off? I just got the sedge hammer and will plan to apply it after this heat wave passes. I do water every day, so I'm worried that turning off irrigation will damage the lawn especially that we've barely gotten any rain. Thank you for this video.

    • @treasuredLawn
      @treasuredLawn  2 месяца назад +1

      Sedgehammer is rainfast in 4 hours you just want to make sure you give it a good spray. So as long as you wait about 4 hours you should be fine. My system would be to spray sedgehammer in the evening and then let the irrigation do its thing in the morning.

    I have an organic vegetable garden. The grass slightly uphill from it (about a patch 8 feet wide) has an "infestation" of purple and yellow nutsedge. Beyond this patch, I have a large flower bed, which I have been losing the battle with nutsedge infestation for years! I have tried Image, and our lawn company will NOT spray anything in a flower bed or near a vegetable garden to kill nutsedge. I need real help! Can I spray Sedgehammer -- with your surfactant and liquid nitrogen -- on the (1) nutsedge adjacent to a vegetable garden and/or (2) nutsedge in a rose/perennial bed. I know I cannot continue pulling this weed grass -- that was a mistake. RoundUp will kill everything -- grass, perennials, roses -- if I use in the rose/perennial bed and ruin our vegetables for consumption. What can I do???

      In the water? It shouldn’t take long. I’d give it a few min of aggregation. Make sure you’re using a surfactant so it sticks to your nutsedge. It does take time to watch it fully die but it does kill it from spreading
