- Sometime you get a free tractor and it starts right up- not the case with this one! From electrical to mechanical to fabrication, this Simplicity Regent required a lot of love.

Late comer to this video but I'm about to attempt a full inspect/repair on my riding lawn mower. This was one of the most concise, thorough video I've come across. I've been searching for repairs with a lot of issues and this mower needed a lot of TLC, but it helped me learn so much. Your editing and coverage was excellent. I was able to follow along and learn so much about small engines. Thanks for the assist!
Wow! Thank you so much. I’m glad it was helpful, and I hope you check out some more of my videos. Happy to answer questions too
I think this is a great video. My comment is about the oil filter. I keep a strap wrench and chain wrench in my bottom junk drawer just for these occasions. They're both pretty cheap. They're both priceless in the right situation.
great idea on the headlight switch retrofit .
It’s a common circuit breaker, but most have a metal cover, can replace with a fuse type or a new one, rated 15 amp
Thanks
I have the same engine on my John Deere STX38
Once again great content
Thank you!
Simplicitys are juuuuunk
I like them. They are made better than MTD
After a while I was thinking you might end up ripping out the entire harness and start from scratch!
I really like the idea of headlights that are a switched as opposed to constantly on. Those LED’s are a huge improvement! 👍
Thanks!
Isn't it a great feeling when you make things work.
So true!
Excellent work
Thank you!
Kyle, that thing looks awesome, love the leds, you just have to be creative. That is what makes it rewarding to make it work and bring a good piece of equipment alive again :) Keep up the good work, my friend :)
Thank you very much! I appreciate your kind words
Great job, Kyle. Arch’s Garage also really likes Simplicity machines. I have yet to see one here on Cape Cod but I look forward to checking one out when a free one shows up (I’ve only had 4 lawn tractors so far - all free).
Nicely done. Recent subscriber although I have watched a couple of your videos and would like to offer a suggestion er two... lol
The torching thing you do with bringing back the black color on sun faded things is an interesting technique but can I suggest trying a heat gun on them as well as using the heat gun on your stickers when removing them. That way you don't have to clog up that abrasive wheel you used in this video to remove that large sticker decal on the center plate.
Again just a suggestion but overall good work!
Thanks for the tips! I don’t always have electricity where I’m working- just depends. But you’re right, I usually just grab the torch and the wire wheel. But the heat gun works just as well!
I like Murray’s… Mowers rule!
That is a thermally controlled fuse. It is supposed to make contact until it gets hot. Might be able to make it work again by cleaning the contacts and bending it enough to allow it to make contact.
Very cool! I had no idea
one tip i have is to use carb spray instead of starting fluid it has lubricating agents in it to protect the engine, starting fluid will wash the oil off cylinder walls
thanks for your videos i am enjoying them
great find with the missing washers on the starter
Thanks
Nice work enjoyed watching
Thank you very much!
looks great. keep making the vidos maybe do some old John Deere Garden Tractors
Thanks! I love working on John Deere tractors. I had a 285 a while back that I restored. Videos on Instagram. Hopefully I’ll get another one like that soon. Hard to come by though
Well it looks like it might be a fixer upper, but it has a lot of stuff messed up 😊
Yup! It’s all fixed up now
Did a great job
Thank you!
wow good video Thanks Ed ,,, Loretto Ontario Canada PS you need SOME SATIN BLACK PAINT ,, ,,,,,you will be surprised
that rusty thing a circuit breaker its shot when the contacts don't touch
Thanks. I’m glad I fixed it then!
You can buy that paint at tractor supply for $8.99 a can.
👍👍👍👍👍🤜🤛 you can’t find a front piece for that either on Amazon Amazon or eBay used?
Not for a reasonable price. You should check it out. Crazy high prices
Now that I’ve watched a couple more of your videos I’ll have to revise my previous negative comment about the use of music in videos. I get where you’re coming from now - only using music while you’re accomplishing a task which doesn’t require verbal explanation. That makes sense and isn’t really unpleasant, plus it gives you a way to express your creativity.
I would just caution you about the use of any background music when you are talking. If the volume isn’t low enough it’s extremely distracting. Also, if the volume isn’t modulated to match adjoining clips then anyone wearing headphones has to constantly adjust their volume to cope.
Just a couple things to think about. 😉
I edit my videos with a program called Shot Cut. I use headphones while editing and I always adjust the music volume. However, everyone’s audio set up is different. The scene might sound completely balanced on your set up, while sounding out of balance on someone else’s set up.
I’m not a pro at this, but I’m doing the best I can
👍
I would sell it asap for as little money as possible and never bring it back again!!
Ok
circuit breaker :)
Great save brother. You stayed with it longer than i would have. Simp make some good mowers. This was just mistreated and poorly maintained.
Thanks! Much appreciated!
remove the plug put oil spray in cylinder
Too nice of a tractor to junk up those headlights like. And that thumb button on the deck should have fixed it correctly.
Sorry
the min he said a well made mower. i loled and peed myself now i leave not to watch. as this tells me no clue in there ..
I like these Simplicity mowers. Pretty solid units. I really like the tough mowing decks and the way they cut. Better than most mtd brands I think.
