Oh hell yeah. INXS (in excess), were one of those bands that you couldn't put in a box and label it. They had their own style and sound, and Michael Hutchence was one of the most mesmerising, charismatic live performers ever. Thanks for another great reaction.
Ya man. Back in the day INXS was one of those few bands that were liked by everyone. Rockers, pop, metal heads all of them. Much like Portishead, Garbage, Beastie,, Alice in chains, Metallica, tool and a select few others. If there was a party going on, you can bet those CD's were in the mix.
They were one of the biggest bands in the world around this time.
Michael Hutchence, lead singer of INXS was one of the greatest frontmen in music history. Tragic how he was gone too soon... R.I.P. 😪
INXS trying to replace him was like Jackson 5 trying to replace Michael Jackson... not possible.
They were thinking of replacing him with Terence Trent Darby. They played together and sounded great. Don’t know why that didn’t continue though. There is live footage of him with the band on YT.

Thank you for reacting to this. I saw them live so many times and they were absolutely on fire every time. I caught this tour in Chicago and the energy that is captured in this video at Wembley was the same at the Rosemont the night I saw them.

INXS are just a bunch of boys from Sydney's Northern Beaches, they all grew up together & are one of Australia's greatest exports. They started out like every other Aussie band & went thru Aussie's pub scene which is extremely difficult. It's our own genre of music called pub rock & if u survived our Aussie pub scene then u know ur gunna make it big time & bands like Acca Dacca (AC/DC) went thru the same hard grueling pub scene. Actually one of the brothers was President of the Manly Cricket Club in Sydney's grade cricket comp, he might be still but he was President about 10yr ago so that just shows how down to earth the boys are, that they get involved in the community & just like any normal day to day Aussie's.
Oh... the nights at the Manly Vale Hotel, INXS and maybe 200 people. Precious.

The whole "Kick" album is amazing. INXS (pronounced like in excess) have many great songs, and were generally a band that everyone enjoyed.
My first record and still holds up like it did then.
I think this is INXS' Wembley concert - 70,000-plus. This was their first U.S. hit and springboarded them into the next album - Kick (by far their best). Shame Michael isnt with us anymore :(
This was actually in 1991, Kick was '87. They were already one of the top groups in the world, thus this huge crowd at Wembley. Michael was one of the all time best frontmen, still miss him.

They had a top 30 hit in the US 3 years earlier with The One Thing. They go all the way back to 1980 in Australia. I'm going to tell you the truth, these early albums, INXS and Underneath the Colours are great.
@@debjorgo Yes, my friend introduced me to their music in around '85, she had all their earliest stuff, then of course they got huge. My favorite early album is The Swing...amazing song after amazing song...but all their early albums had great stuff. The fact that they could evolve so much but still be so good is a testament to Andrew and Michael's song writing skills and the band's overall talent.
@@jenniferfoster1692 The Swing, with Original Sin, about interracial relationships, with guest Daryl Hall singing in the chorus, and Dancing on the Jetty. Great album. We might as well mention Shabooh Shoobah too, the great album with The One Thing and Don't Change.
I loved this band growing up! Was lucky enough to see them in 1986 when I was in high school. The stage was not yet that big! 🤣 They became HUGE with the next album!
Some bands just got it and some just dont...THEY GOT IT!!!!!!

Man, this brings back memories! I got to see them in concert back in the day and it was awesome!! I stayed past the end and was hanging over the railing above the tunnel at the arena where I hoped they would exit through, and they did! I hollered "Michael" to lead singer Michael Hutchens, and damn if he didn't look up at me, and I just about swooned and managed to wave my hand at him and he smiled and waved back. I wasn't worth a sh!t for a week afterwards, lol! I just walked around with a goofy arse grin..🤣🤪
They have a huge back catalogue of amazing songs. This was at Wembley Stadium in London, the whole concert was filmed and it's all amazing. At their peak they were in the top 3 of bands in the world.

A big wad of the revenue that night went to this video production and it has been their legacy. Don't you just feel the energy, like one with the crowd that night. Timeless 30 yrs later!! These guys were magic together.

74k at Wembley Oval - they were huge then. 1991. Aussie band - Michael sadly died in 1997 back in Sydney, the place of his birth. His funeral is on RUclips. You can buy the DVD of the concert and the CD too. I have it for my car and watch the DVD every now and then. LIVE BABY LIVE is the show.

Saw them live twice. At one of the venues (den Haag) they came up an hour and a half after scheduled time. The pre- act (don't know how you call that) was Ziggy Marley.. Leadsinger INXS came up and he said: Ziggy has some good shit. haha and then he layed down on stage and started singing lying down.. now that wasn't the best concert of the two I saw.. but it was still pretty great. (and so was Ziggy Marley)
AC/DC was lucky enough to find another brilliant singer in Brian Johnson after Bon Scotts death. Sadly there was nobody that could ever replace Michael Hutchence, he was & always will be a 1 in a billion!!!

There was just something about his band. Would say INXS, Huey Lewis, maybe Oingo Boingo were the most complete bands. They had it all with the horns, drums, guitars, vocals, even harmonica. All the elements were there. Maybe another one would be Miami Sound Machine. It's hard to get a complete band to sound so tight like that.

there is no studio version of any inxs song that is better than them live. they are amazing in studio, but they blow them out of the water live. nothing compares.
