Their sound is very unique. Been sleeping on this Aussie band for sure.
Also, video got flagged so I had to fisheye it, apologies.
Yes; you also need to listen to Neil Finn. He was in two bands. Split Enz and Crowded House. Split Enz was a part of the start of NuWave. So was bands like Blondie, Pat Benatar, The Pretenders, B-52's, and others
You may have been sleeping but you’ve woken up from your nap 🤭
@@TheRatsCast Pat Benatar's Promises in the Dark, Hit Me with Your Best Shot, Hell is for Children, We Belong, We Live for Love, etc. are all rock songs.
Alright Salvo! This "Aussie" band it was the best thing in the late 80s when I were out nightclubbing. The ladies love them. I idolize them . They took the big band sound from the 40s with the horns and percussion and mixed it with a sutle rock pop groove. It just hit the right spots.
In allergy hell this year, it never eased up midsummer until September, ahhhhhhchoo!
There is nobody else like INXS, they invented this sound! Michael said they were born between Punk & Disco in 1977. Three brothers in the band with three mates that grew up together. If you really want to blow your mind, Wembley 1991. This song is in the set list. The thing about INXS is that they are a live band and that is where they really shine! They have many different styles and Michael can sing anything.
Yeah they were a great hybrid band
Just listen to the music and don't worry about genres. Everything doesn't fit neatly into one category.
I just said the exact same thing. Sorry I didn't see your comment first. It really does drive me crazy the way he obsesses about definitions and genres and subgenres.
INXS is really their own genre.
Exactly!! Not Every group has to be put in a genre box. I think that INXS is their own great beast.
You simply cannot go wrong with any INXS song!!
They had some of the most danceable tunes of the 80's! I remember it well. The "sequel" is "Need You Tonight".
I concur!
PLEASE do them live! They’re one of “those bands” that came alive onstage. Suicide Blond at Wembley is a good choice. Michael Hutchence was one of those top frontmen that you see over the years with amazing charisma.
Btw….the energy of the crowd at Wembley WILL remind you of AC/DC at River Platte. What is it about these Aussie bands and sheer energy? Don’t know, but love it!
I love Suicide Blonde!
My favorite performance of Suicide Blonde is 1990 MTV Awards!!!
@@PMD6565 just watched it. It’s very good indeed, but the sheer energy of the Wembley crowd makes it my choice.
When I first saw them live in 86 I immediately bought everything they had made, then in 88 I was a guard on stage for them, and had dinner with them after, and then saw them again in 88 as just someone in the crowd. One of my all time favorite bands!!
“New Sensation “ performed live at Wembley stadium is one of the best live performances of any song ever
I just drooled a lil bit 😂
They did this song and many others live in concert at Wembley Stadium. Catch it on RUclips!
I took my brother for his 17 birthday in 1985 to their first UK tour at the Royal Albert Hall when they were promoting this album. Saw them nine times after and they were incredible live, especially Michael Hutchence.
God I’m jealous! They were such an incredible band
I am soooooooooooooooooooooo envious
Enjoy the rabbit hole of INXS…there’s a whole lot to react to!
One of my favorite things about your channel is that you’re not reacting to the same songs/videos that every other channel thinks they need to do because everyone else has done it. Keep it up!
Thank you! No cookie cutter over here! Like to keep it fresh
This INXS KICK Tour was one of my first concerts. Fantastic! (This song is slightly before KICK). Luckily, my husband and I decided "last minute" to see INXS again in 1997. Michael Hutchence died just a few months later, may he RIP.
"Never Tear Us Apart" should your next INXS song!!!💜💜🎵🎼🎶🎸🎹🥁🔥🔥🤘🤘
Ya they sound Like INXS .They are like no other ! RIP Michael
INXS is really underrated IMHO due to Michael's early death. The band had so much potential. They created their own sound that was unique to them. When an INXS song came on the radio, you knew it was them. If Michael was still alive, they had the chance to be another Guns N Roses not in terms of sound, but in terms of popularity and effect on the industry.
😆 🤣 😂. Love INXS. Another step in music's evolution. "Elegantly Wasted". It was my theme song in the late 90s. Just not so elegant. "Never Tear us Apart", "Suicide Blonde", "Need you Tonight". They are great.
Oh yeah everyone here we go with the boys from Australia!!! These guys were kick ass and original bro. RIP MICHAEL HUTCHINS!!!
One of my all time favorite bands, lots of great songs still to experience... keep it coming!
Got turned onto them with the Listen Like Thieves album. Only saw them once live - on their X tour. Incredible musicians and Hutchence was the sexiest frontman. Incredible band.
The thing about Australian music is that it can combine influences from the US and England to a uniquely creative Aussie sound.
Know as pub rock!
So happy I got to see them perform live in NY. They were capable of making your internal organs vibrate through the whole damn show. Cured whatever ailed you!❤
You are almost ready for some Duran Duran.
INXS What You Need got EVERYBODY dancing, grooving, making that scrunchy face.
INXS "NEED YOU TONIGHT/MEDIATE" combo video is 🔥🔥
❤ INXS are one of my favorite bands. What You Need, Need You Tonight, & Suicide Blonde are my favorites.
I was lucky enough to see this band when the played in pubs. They have their own sound. Next one for you, Don’t Change.
Ooh that’s one of my favourite alongside the rolling down the mountain. Can’t remember its real name.
One of my favorite songs in the 80s was inxs "on a bus"
This is get up on the dance floor music! Also good house cleaning fun!! I miss these guys.
In-excess. My favourite 80s band. They were as big as U2 in the day. Most songs written by frontman Michael Hutchence and Andrew Farriss (who did the arrangements). Michael was the best frontman ever...some serious magic. and INXS was the biggst band to come from Oz, Bass is Gary Beers, sax Kirk Pengilly. Drums Jon Farriss and lead guitar Tim Farriss. Friends (and 3 Farriss bros.( from teenage years. Very original and cutting edge in terms of tech, using samples and loops and the like. Best live band. Never Tear Us Apart, Devil Inside, Suicide Blonde, Disappear, Mystify, New Sensation, Beautiful Girl, Heaven Sent, Time.
I was 22 when this song came out and you can bet I was dancing to it in the clubs....sad day when Michael Hutchence passed.... he was a real heartthrob to all the ladies. Another talent gone too soon.
"Its the one thing" was their first big US video and hit...highly recommend it.
It's the best.
Another awesome singer taken away from us way too soon.
what was unique about INXS is that they were one of the few bands that totally changed their sound and became even more successful after they did. They started out as a standard rock band but when they started mixing funk, rap and disco into their sound they went to the top of the charts.
Listen Like Thieves is an awesome album.
This Time
Shine Like It Does
Listen Like Thieves
Kiss the Dirt
Good + Bad Times
One of their older songs, The One Thing, is a really good song. It got a lot of airplay on MTV, back in the day.
They continued to progress with Kick, their most popular album. X was their next one, with fewer hits.
Unfortunately, their lead singer passed away. Michael Hutchence had a special voice and energy.
Such a catchy song, they always nailed the groove.
New Wave and alternative music is hard to describe, depending on what decade you were born in! Hell yes to "Let My Love Open the Door" by Pete! It is right up your alley!
Need to hear more of INXS
Excellent reaction to a great song !
INXS - Need You Tonight
You should pull the live version of this! Off the chains!
Thanks for your great reaction, please do more INXS!
You just peaked your head into a rabbit hole, my friend! Now go for NEED YOU TONIGHT, DISAPPEAR, SUICIDE BLONDE, DEVIL INSIDE, NEW SENSATION, NEVER TEAR US APART, MYSTIFY, etc. A lot of bands couldn't reproduce their sound Live onstage, but INXS really rose to those occasions and lived to perform Live.
INXS has its own music genre
It’s called Dance Rock
Beautiful Michael. One of true stars of his time.
They were an exceptional live band plus so many hits its ridiculous.
INXS were in the top 3ish bands in the world for a good chunk of time. They were 'it'. Watch New Sensation or any song really, from their Wembley Stadium concert. They were phenomenal live.
This is one of their good ones. Gotta love that rolling synth bass line and Michael Hutchence excellent voice.
Their most popular songs are Need You Tonight, Devil Inside , Never Tear Us Apart, New Sensation, and my personal favorite Don't Change.
Their lead singer Michael Hutchence is a sad story, he committed suicide in 97 with an overdose of alcohol and drugs due to depression. Sad, sad, sad.
✌Peace✌
...and 'Kiss The Dirt (Falling Down The Mountain)'
😊👍
This song is the reason I've been fan since 1986. Nearly thirty years later, they're still my favorite band.
My bad, it's forty. Boy, how time flies 😂😂
This is a great song, big hit on MTV
The beauty of this band is their unique sound and they are all great musicians. Its no wonder they became the world's biggest band...they were playing such a different, upbeat sound at the time and it was a great sound. Australian rock in the 80s was unbeatable, and yes i suffer daily allergies so i get your issues.
In 1987 I was a 20 year old diehard Rush and hard rock/metal fan who begrudgingly agreed to take my then girlfriend to see these guys live…it was a incredible show. R.I.P. Michael Hutchence.
Definitely would recommend checking out early INXS -
Don't Change, Dancing on the Jetty, Kiss the dirt - and anything live.
"Need you Tonight" is awesome! I also Love "The Devil Inside"! Be sure to check them out as well!
Absolutely adore this band. 💗
Why are we all trying to categorize? 🤔
New wave, pop/alt rock, it's glorious ear candy to my ears. 😊
What that was, was FUNKY! No excess, to INXS. Welcome!
I saw these guys at Miami Arena in early '91 😎👌
you: what have they done here?
inxs: what you need
😀
Oh, my goodness...........Michael Hutchence was SUCH an artist and performer. All of the band were badass, indeed.
My gen had THE best music! No need for gym memberships when we had a dance floor.
In his looks and his charisma, and vocally in his lower register, Michael reminds me allot of Jim Morrison of The Doors. Anybody else?
Oh yeah. Michael and Jim were incredible frontmen.
Another group Salvo should look into. Riders on the Storm is a good start.
Always so thankful I got to see them live. It was on their Kick Tour in 87. INXS was musical heaven. I’ve adored them since their debut album Shaboo Shabah. So much to pick from in their music catalog. “Don’t Change” will make me feel 16 again any time I hear it, and that was 40 years ago. Timeless and glorious.
That was great ! Have you reacted to "need you tonight " by them? very steamy . Yes to Pete Townshend !! "let my love open the door " all time favorite . The whole album Empty glass is worth a strong listen .
And you MUST include "Mediate" at the end of it! So many radio stations only play Need You Tonight and don't include Mediate and I'm screaming at how awful that is!
Alternative rock blossomed in the late 80’s into the 90’s with bands like Smashing Pumpkins, U2, My Chemical Romance and Nirvana evolving into Foo Fighters. I think you’ve heard some of them and maybe didn’t realize it was “Alternative”!
This song was massively popular everywhere
Like this whole album!
They have a bass player…can’t imagine them using synth bass.
The bass is great, and it's a great song for dancing. You can feel the groove.
Great Townshend tune, Let my love open the door.
Need You Tonight!!!!!!! Puh-puh-puh-please??? 😉
Have you heard Elegantly Wasted? GREAT!!!!!!!!!
The singer was in an Indy Aussie movie called Dogs in Space I think. Cool little underground flick.
I love this band. Had this on cassette 😅😊😂
Yes for Pete Townsend. Other good songs include Give Blood , Face the Face, White City Fighting and Second Hand Love.
...and particularly the _live_ version of 'Give Blood'! 😊👍
This was their second Top 40 hit. You should do their first hit "The One Thing". MTV played the hell out of it and it's what broke them in the U.S. It's really good.
I was in love with Michael Hutchence ❤️❤️ RIP
I'd forgotten what a great tune this was! Thanks!
Another 80s tune you CANNOT miss: I would walk 500 miles.
I never thought of songs of my youth fitting into future genres…..they ‘made’ your genres…..they refused to fit into them! You will enjoy music of pre- 2000’s more if you forget about ‘genres’….of course, there was opera and country music that never made it to our attention….so, I guess if we had to think in ‘genres’, we had classical music, country music, opera and ‘popular radio music’ which was everything not fitting into the other 3! Seriously, we loved ‘what appealed to us’, not because of any box they belonged in, but because ‘we just did’! If you must have a genre, it is ‘INXS’. The reason is that band went out of their way to create their own new, unique sound…so they each made a new genre!
They have some really awesome songs!❤️♥️😊😎
They are a total vibe all to themselves. They are not like anything else. I can understand that one might think the bass was synthesized given it was the 80's, but their bass player put down some sick bass lines. This was back when music was still crafted with love, care, and professionalism. Nothing like the junk that is put out today. Midnight Oil is another good one to listen to. Beds Are Burning was probably their biggest commercial hit.
Their Wembley version of this is wicked.
INXS - "Never Tear Us Apart" INXS - "Devil Inside"
Salvo-Remember when you’re listening to stuff from this time period, there were ENDLESS different sounds with new ones coming out all the time. Some people genred up (I just made that word up), but many people liked and listened to a big variety. No other time had this much variety (80s).
Its funk crossed with pub rock. They branch out into all directions.
Inxs...always changing, always ahead of their time.
Great get up and dance song. Really, REALLY good.
At their peak they were the second biggest band in the world
The 2 you did from Kick (1988) was devil Inside (#2 in the US) New Sensation (#4 in the US), the other singles from that album were Need You Tonight (#1 in the US) and Never Tear Us Apart (#7 in the US)
With the passing of Robbie Robertson today can you listen to his song "Showdown at Big Sky" or "Somewhere Down the Crazy River" off his EPIC solo album. He was a founding member of the iconic The Band.
They were extraordinary. Not a so-so song in any of their albums
Great band... so good live. This was one of their biggest hits. Lots to explore with INXS.
A couple of bands to check out. Toad The Wet Sprocket with "Fall Down" and "Good Intentions". Also check out Gin Blossoms with "Found Out About You", "Follow You Down" and "Till I Hear It From You".
LOVE INXS, thanks for this reaction! Definitely check out this one (or any others!) live from Wembley 1991, where they played in front of 80,000+ and the place was rocking! Michael was one of the all-time great front men - talented, charismatic and awesome. Shed some tears when he died by suicide. Gone way too soon! RIP Michael, you are missed.
😮This song is going pretty deep into inxs for states side these days...nice one more inxs please
INXS were SUCH a vibe. One of my favorite bands when I was in college in the late 80s.
Dancing while lying in the bed right now! Love them!!!!
This album was huge and so much fun!😊 everybody up dancing every time this song came on
Band of my high school and college years!!❤
Another INXS song is TO LOOK AT YOU from 1982.
THAT was The New Wave of Rock rolling over you, dude...
Great reaction 😁👍🏼 Another Inxs "Need You Tonight"
And another Australian band check out "Midnight Oil band"
