Both Angus and Malcolm were born in Scotland but moved to Australia when they were younger. That is not an English uniform but an Australian school uniform. AC/DC formed in 1973 with the original lead singer called Dave Evans. Then a few years later he was sacked and Bon Scott became there lead singer up to until his death and then Brian Johnson took over in 1980

greetings from Down Under. the Youngs were born in Scotland & most of the family came to Autralia in 1963. there were 8 kids:- Angus (youngest), Malcolm, George (founding member of Easybeats), William, Alexander, John, Margaret & Stephen. Alexander stayed in the UK. Angus's signature schoolboy look was the suggestion & creation of his sister, Margaret, and when it fell apart from wear and tear, he used his uniform from Ashfield Boys High School in Sydney. Angus started playing about 5 or 6 yo & practised as soon as got home from school, without changing.

A group of us from school, the "Ecology Club" were on our way to a state park for a rock-climbing adventure. 10 of us teenagers were riding in the back of a covered pickup truck, and the guy whose father was driving us up there (the teacher who organized the club was riding shotgun, had just bought this cassette that morning. He put it on for us, and we ROCKED out for 90 minutes or so to this album that no one had ever heard before, because we knew AC/DC was a kick-ass band.

I was 12 when this album came out in 1980 and the moment it was released it was clear it was going to be arguably the best, and inarguably one of the best, hard rock albums of all time. And its sales as well as longevity speak for itself. Shoot to Thrill in Iron Man and endless plays of this song, Hells Bells and You Shook Me All Night speak for itself. And to think their original lead singer passed just prior to this album, potentially fatally wounding the band. But Brian Johnson brought the power and respect to AC/DC vocals that was literally perfect for BACK in Black - an ode to their late singer, Bon Scott. Great reaction gentlemen. Keep it up! 👍🏽

Not sure where you heard he lost a bet, but Angus Young of AC/DC wears a schoolboy uniform on stage because his sister suggested it as a unique stage look when the band was starting out, essentially using his school uniform as a way to stand out and create a memorable visual identity; it's considered a part of his signature style and has stuck with him throughout his career.

AC/DC is an Aussie band. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺 Whilst members came from Scotland and England, they immigrated here, just as my family did generations ago. Doesn’t make them less Australian. RIP to Malcolm Young, the guy with the large guitar 🎸 Angus is wearing a Sydney school boy uniform, from Ashfield Boys High School, I believe. Great music from them, written by Brian Johnson, lead singer, Malcolm and Angus Young. The older brother of the Young boys was in one of the bands from the 1960’s, called Easybeats. His name was George Young. George was a great songwriter as well, and Easybeats forged a new era in Oz music, writing their own songs, firstly with Little Stevie Wright (lead singer of the Easybeats) and then with Harry Vanda. Not only did they write songs for themselves, they wrote songs for others including Stevie when he was solo, John Paul Young, their own band Flash and the Pan. The duo also produced music for AC/DC and Rose Tattoo (aka the Tatts), as well as others too.
A classic is Evie Parts I II and III, by Stevie Wright. It is a three part trilogy of a story of boy meets girl, the surprise of falling pregnant, and lastly loss of the mother during childbirth. Just listen to the anguish Stevie portrays in the final verse. Magnificent.
Oh by the way, if you like movies, and the Lost Boys, an Easybeats cover is on the soundtrack, sung my my favourite artist, Jimmy Barnes (who is heard singing 3 times in the movie) and INXS (pronounced In Excess because ie the word IN and then separate sound X and then S). The song is called Good Times.

It was the music that broke those barriers late 60s through the 9os. Music was open to all but a black people heard, " don't listen to that devil music." This music in this era helped us mentally get through stuff like child abuse. Yes it did. It's that many black teens would not break the rules, but I did and fl in love with rock and all other genres.

When AC/DC first started, everyone in the band was supposed to have their own costume. Angus' original costume was a knock-off of Superman. They decided that it didn't work, so Angus decided to wear his school boy outfit to the next gig and the rest is history. There was just something about the wholesomeness and the innocence of that costume contrasted with the hard rock and roll. Brilliant.

The Young brothers chose the title Back in Black as a sign of mourning for Scott, and to send him off with a powerful performance.
    Lyrics
The song's lyrics celebrate the band's return and resilience, while also capturing a sense of mourning.
    Opening riff
The song's opening guitar riff, written by Angus Young, is considered one of the most iconic in rock history.
    Album cover
The album's all-black cover was designed as a "sign of mourning" for Scott. The band started working on the album just three days after Scott's funeral. They refused to use any of Scott's work on the album, not wanting to seem as though they were profiting from his passing.
    Legacy
The album's sound quality is so perfect that studios use it to check the acoustics of a room.

was in middle school and boom boxes became "the thing" to have in the late 70s then AC/DC music was a must hear with a box on your shoulder...Hells Bells sounded amazing right up against the ear and 40+ years later hearing still works contrary to the teachers and parents ;)

Back in the 90's I had two car stereo stores and I had a black guy as manager of one of them . He was a hard rocker and demoed
systems for black folks with hard rock like AC/DC . It was fun to watch their reaction to the music . Most started by just looking at
each other , but by the end they were all patting their foot and shacking their head to the rock .

Seen a few of your videos. More impressed each time by your attitude and mentality. Not everyone can see the beauty in music across genres. Props to being a good man and great dad. Props to being a fellow child of the 80's. The best era to ever exist, except for the constant fear of nuclear war!

You’re absolutely right. The blues from the 50’s influenced a lot of the rock music that came from the British Invasion in the mid 60’s. I was in my early teens and you can’t imagine how thrilling it was to see the bands on tv because a lot of people didn’t have tv yet in the 50’s. So the technology came together with a a musical era that y’all will never forget 😊👵🏼☮️🥰

When I graduated boot camp, my chief RDC put Thunderstruck on over the speaker, and my shipmates and I formed a giant circle in the middle of the division (the assigned room for our squadron). AC/DC was always on in my house growing up. You should check out some more, like "Highway to Hell", "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap", "Fly on the Wall", as well as "Thunderstruck"!

"BinB"🌑 is AC⚡DC's tribute anthem to their lead singer: RIP-Bon Scott as Brian Johnson's 1st song w: 'em after Bon🤘had pre-picked Brian🤘in '79 to replace him: as Angus Young'd told Howard Stern, & Brian'd told him about Bon seeing him laying on stage w: appendix burstin', screamin' out his lyrics live, ;butt almost not alive, so Bon had told Angus & the boys: "Brian would d*e for his band & their fans, so he won't fail our band & our fans either!"

I watched a documentary on ACDC once and the story of his school boy outfit was that Malcolm his older brother had friends in a garage band and Angus would run home from school everyday to try and play with them he was so excited to try that he never changed clothes after school and would just strap up his guitar and start emulating his big bro and his sister who named the band ACDC told Angus just to wear the outfit on stage bc he never took it off and first gig playing it stuck as people would laugh at him and say he looked cute with it on but he kept wearing it and later people qould always expect him wearing it so she made him multiple school boy outfits to wear on stage

No no no, Krizz...the schoolboy uniform is what Angus wore to school, and he came home from school one of the days, started playing , and his sister said he looked cute, why not keep the outfit?...it's just something you can remember about the band.....and the name "AC/DC"?...his sister was sewing him more schoolboy outfits, and one of the brothers read the tag on the back of the sewing machine, and saw the words "AC/DC", referring to the type of electrical current that we all use...ta-da!!!..there ya go, and I am so glad you like these guys....I heard them in 1978, and have been hooked ever since....AND, like you, my 2 sons are addicts as well, and we all saw them together in Toronto, 2009....LIVE???????.....OMFG!!!!!!

That little guy with the "guitar bigger than him" is Malcolm Young, the driving force behind the driving, open chord rhythms. Back in Black was a comeback album after original front man Bon Scott passed away. Tons of great stuff from the albums with Bon too, I would urge you to dive in. A lot of the best Rock bands featured brothers that jammed together since they were little kids. Angus and Malcolm, the Abbott brothers (Pantera), and the Van Halen brothers for examples. Lots of great music out there that will give the youngsters a new outlook

This song was a tribute to Bon Scott after his passing when Brian just joined the band as lead singer - Bon Scott was a wild boy - died in his car from Alcohol poisoning or related. This is my growing up music in Australia - left school in '78 when they were at their best. The school outfit is Australian not from UK - All schools including public schools not just private wear uniforms here (gets rid of a bit of the bullying etc when they all wear a uniform - rich or poor) By the way they are not from the UK they are the Australian rock from the 70's, 80's we were exposed to. The family immigrated when they were very young children from Scotland. Trivia - the bands manager for a time was Angus and Malcolm's older brother who was in an Australian band in the 60's 'The Easybeats' - their biggest hit - 'Friday on my Mind'
