A 12 stringer guitar gives you thicker, more rich, more ringing tone sound, the regular neck is a classic 6 string electric guitar , the second neck has another string at each of the six strings tuned an octave higher, which gives you that full beautiful sound, in this case the fact that you dont need to have two separate guitars on you comes in handy. Plus If a song need both sounds and you playin a gig its just practical to have a double-neck guitar. Not to mention it was cool at the time, and legendary, the gibson sg double neck guitar.

When I was 15 years old, I bought a Goya 12 string acoustic guitar with money I worked for at McDonalds (ha-ha) over the summer. That was in 1977. I had a friend named Raymond Kittredge RIP. He would come to my house a couple of times a week to give me guitar lessons in exchange for a homecooked meal from my mother RIP. He taught how to play this song. He also taught me Dog & Butterfly by a group Heart. he was a barefoot hippy with a heart of gold. One day I heard on my dad's scanner that he was hit by a car on his bike and was killed. I didn't play my guitar for a year.

Jimmy Page is the guitarist, and some say the GOAT. If you watch the film "The Song Remains the Same", just watching his hands, you (well...me) say to yourself..."that's not possible!". The double neck guitar: Well...there's a lot to be said about it. It's two instruments in one. Led Zeppelin doesn't have a lead and rhythm guitar. It has one guitarist. So, you can use it for both parts. That's one advantage. I would think that means it adds to the range, et al., but a guitarist could probably give you a better answer. I agree with the comment about watching the tribute to Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center Honors (performed by Heart, and many others). Robert Plant is brought to tears, and Jason Bonham (son of John Bonham - RIP - drummer for Led Zeppelin prior to his death in 1980) played the drums. It's very moving. With Led Zeppelin, you get 4 guys that are all so talented that they managed to put something together that is very special. I cried like a baby when John Bonham died and remember exactly where I was when I found out. I knew it was the end of something so dear to me.

I would suggest to you playing these "classic rock" songs in their original version first, then at a later date expand on it with the live version. Jimmy Page used 3 different guitars on the studio version to get the perfect sound, but that would be impractical during a live show, so he uses a double neck to reproduce the sounds. A six string on one neck and 12 string on other neck. The song has 3 sections, the intro with slow tempo acoustic instruments, then electric instruments in the middle, and final section with an up-tempo hard rock arrangement.

Many more Zep songs for you to listen to. To me, this is top tier Zeppelin, but there's like 3 other songs on this tier: Kashmir, When the Levee Breaks, and Immigrant Song. There's almost no drop off to the 2nd tier.
FWIW, if you want to hear Plant sing "baby" a lot, try "Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You." lol Also, in Plant's solo career, there's a great guitar part in a hit song called "Big Log."

12 strings .. ok .. you can tune them in so many ways. In pairs one string can be an octave up or in a fifth, to add depth. so you can play two notes at the same time. there are Bass Guitars built the same was in pairs like in Cheap Trick and the Guitar player Rick Nielsen also has 6 neck guitars. To me the guys in Led Zeppelin were John Paul Jones on Bass/Everything else and John Bonham on Drums that afforded a base for JImmy Page on Guitar and Robert Plant on Vocals to stretch out. When John Bonham drank his last drink they disbanded. They have done a few shows and turned down insane cash to reunite. They honor their fallen member in silence.

You need to do the studio version instead of live! The build-up is more subtle, more beautiful, more intense and the whole song sounds verrryyy different to this version

Out of curiosity, have you ever asked your parents what their Prom songs were? Or their High School make out music? Or just cruising music?
I'm amazed that I haven't seen reactors bringing in people who lived it when they check out the classics.

A pro tip with rock music, if you only know two of the band members names, usually(not always), it is the lead singer and the lead guitarist. In the case of Led Zeppelin, Robert Plant is the lead singer, Jimmy Page is the lead guitarist, John Paul Jones is the bass guitarist and John Bonham(RIP) is the drummer.

Checkout Heart's version of this song. They performed it in front of the members of Led Zeppelin at the Kennedy Center honors. The drummer of Zeppelin passed away and his son Jason Bonham played the drums with Heart...ruclips.net/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/видео.htmlsi=aLqKJY6cL-PrBcVK

This was 1975. You should watch the 1973 live version or the studio version from 1971, as Robert Plants voice was in much better condition. In 1975 he was having allot of vocal difficulties due to damage to his vocal chords. His voice did recover considerably through the years, but 1975 was pretty rough. Too much touring, with 3 hour concerts, smoking etc. He lost his higher range. Check out an older version. Very different.

First wanna say been a Strange Music student since '07+runnin and def gonna get into your new stuff 🙏 There's really no set time when it comes to any instrument.. I learnt Bazz 🎸 first by thumb pick so by time I got a acoustic+elec, finger style came naturally... But even still 20+ years later strumming+chords are just now starting to wake up 😂

Krizz, first off, I absolutely love you, your family you’ve brought on here, and your reactions. Thank you for it all! I just wish I could give you a hug, man. Your success is because of your charisma and talent. You have an incredible aura, it comes across so strongly. People must just gravitate to you!
Heard of the band YES? My favorite band. All about love and positivity. In Awaken live, Chris Squire- best bassist to ever walk the earth, plays a triple neck bass. He passed in 2015, and the man he asked to take his place, Billy Sherwood, is a friend. Chris makes it look so simple.
You can check out Roundabout first… but please play Yes for one of your newest and maybe oldest fans!
BTW, did you do “get your boogie on” in the Korn song? ☮️❤️🎼😎

at 12 he found a guitar in his new house that somebody left behind and mostly taught himself how to play. he was the most sought after session musician in the UK because he could walk in cold and nail the guitar portion on the first take. you would be amazed at the songs he contributed to.
here's a link to his first tv performance at 13
