I have used the waypoints to help get me home when lost on a run but it’s not going to be nearly as helpful as your Garmin Fenix 6 maps. Let me know what you end up with and how you like it Sara! 👌
I currently use a Garmin Swim 2 for my swimming, and other, workout tracking. I appreciate your video here and I think it's time to make the switch soon - the increased pool accuracy (especially with kickboard sets) is huge. I also really like the concept of being able to have the Alltrails app up for tracking my hikes - which is something I would use a lot. Great video!
Hi Big C, I think there is a lot you’ll like about the AW Series 8. But I don’t think it’s more accurate in the pool than the Garmin Swim 2. Maybe similar 🤷🏻♂️ Let me know what you think if you pick one up. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Completely agree, there really is not enough differentiation that can't just easily be accomplished with the OS update on a 7. I have been feeling the exact same. Awesome video transitions and video work as well. Music & background sound blends continue to get better as well. Such good work
Thanks buddy. I'm finally getting the Ultra so we'll see how that one holds up over the next few weeks. Hope all is well with you guys and you haven't had too much rain after the hurricane remnants.
@@mlegrand that's so funny, my ultra is minutes away from arrival as well! Ha ha. I just hate the form factor on the regular Apple Watch so much I'm honestly really excited to have a different design and think it may be a winner.
Agree with you. I love my AW6, the new features are fine for 1st time buyers or temperature for woman's needs, but not enough for me to fork out more $. I might consider it if the temperature were accurate for fever detection.
I just bought my series 7 on Saturday and had it delivered on Wednesday, got myn in the red in 45mm and I saved a crap load of money by going with the series 7 over the 8 , if you can get a series 7 get it , it’s almost the same as the 8
Nice work Trev! I'm surprised you're able to get a great deal on the Series 7 at this point. I think a lot of people looked at the Series 8 specs and looked to get a deal on the S7. Nice work 👏🏻 People need to move quick because I'm guessing there won't be many 7s to pick up here shortly. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
You and I are a lot alike. I use a variety of different watches. I think you'd be slightly disappointed in something on the AW and happy with others. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Nice! It’s a nice watch. You’ll have to come back here and let me know what you think! Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
It's probably not one I'd recommend for you at this point. I wonder if Wahoo will update that Rival at some point. A V2 might be a very interesting option. I'm always available to talk watches. 👍🏻
That's kind of what I recommend at the end. 70-75% of AW buyers are new to the platform. This isn't a huge update compared to the 7 but it's a great option for someone who is new or has a Series 5 or below. Keep me posted on how you like it Aaron! Thanks for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
As much as I want to say Apple Watch Ultra checks all the boxes for me, it still falls short for me. As much much as I want to go all in using apps on it, it still gets bogged down with long load times-indicative of the 3 year old 7nm SIP which they now call the S8. Cellular is still LTE, which is slow to gather data. Other smartwatches are much faster in CPU and cellular. Not much of an excuse for a device which costs $800 and $100 more for AppleCare+.
Good feedback for people o hear Iggy! It does seem odd that there's not faster cellular connectivity at this price point. My guess is that they'll release a very modest update for the version 2 with some of these suggestions. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
I think so. I think that's the perfect update cycle depending on your budget. And I'm sure there will be good holiday shopping deals here in another month. Thanks for watching this one Fahad!
Oh dude, sorry the Fenix 6 isn't still getting any love. But yeah, the AW7 is solid and I like the new software updates of WOS9. Thank you for watching and taking the extra time to comment. I really appreciate it. 👍
Great review as always. I have the Apple Watch 3 and it's great, but the battery isn't the best. I'm not a fan of the Garmin, but have it cuz of battery life. Look like I could update to a 6, 7 or even 8.
Great intro, detailing, rationale behind returning it, music, transitions etc- AS ALWAYS :). (I check your channel everyday to see if #AppleWatchUltra review has dropped yet. Waiting :)
Probably at least two weeks unless I just make some sort of unboxing video. It takes me a while to test these watches. Thanks so much for watching Pavan! Super kind of you and I really appreciate the nice words and support!
Good vid man, I am amazed at how small the update was between the 7 and 8, but tis the year of the ultra I suppose lol. I’m the family go to regarding tech update questions, and I definitely will not be recommending anyone make the switch unless on an older watch. Btw I don’t know how you use the AW swimming. I tried, *TRIED* so hard to make the AW work for my tri training alongside my edge but man the swimming experience is so much worse compared to the Garmin.
Garmin is my preferred swimming brand. I like the drill mode for kick sets and drills. Touch screens are not ideal. But I try a lot of watches and watchOS 9 is an improvement on the swimming front. 🤷🏻♂️
I’m hoping watchOS9 apps that can use always-on display with SwiftUI come to save the swimming experience. So obvious Apple puts most of its attention with workout tracking into running and little else :( - for open water and tri events at least there is some native multisport functionality now
@@mlegrand no I agree it’s better but still unusable unless I’m missing something. Like my coach often prescribes sets as, for example, 4x 100 descending on 1:40. On my garmin when I complete the 100, I’ll quickly see okay I did that at 1:30, I have 10 seconds rest, and I can start my next 100, etc. Then when I was doing 1k sets, it was extremely my confusing for me because it would show like 976m, like it never seems to snap to the length of the pool like garmin does I’m during the workout, yet when I would review the workout in the app after it would say 1k. So idk, maybe I’m using it wrong lol.
Coming from AW4 (without power data in WatchOS 9) is making think I should upgrade. However I’m still contemplating going with a FR 955 / Epix or AW Ultra. I’m long course triathlete. Any suggestion or thought from others?
This is going to sound crazy but you’d love the 955 for tri but I think you’ll miss the AW for everything else. Tough call. The Ultra should be able to handle a full Ironman you’d just want to check to see if you like the size of it.
As a Space Black Titanium S7 owner, I am also skipping this year. Still not sure the Ultra isn’t too massive for my 165mm wrists, but it does look super cool! Might jump on a version 2 next year and hope for a black version 🤘🏼
