Shout out to the student for asking such incisive questions - big help to the audience. Thanks guys
Agreed!!!
Absolutely hw asked every question I had
Yeah, good questions.
i love these videos where they are average/ everyday students and not elite players, they ask the same questions and have the same issues we have so the videos are so much more relatable. Excellent job please keep them coming.
Thanks Steve, we appreciate that feedback and will look forward to doing more! Thanks again!
You are on DIFFERENT level my man. So much clear wisdom in each and every minute of every video. Great vibes too. Always positive.
Love the detailed reasoning for technique. Much easier to understand when there is more of a 'why'. Thanks for the great video.
Thanks Christian, we appreciate the support and feedback. Glad you are enjoying the videos!
I've watched a bunch of your videos since my coach teaches a bump as well, but it finally clicked. Your explanation of what it should feel like, including once rotation starts is so huge. This setup tweak and everything that comes with it has saved my golf game.
This is the video that has given me the best clarity on the setup, bump and how to set the right elbow 👍 😀
I've seen the pros do this move. Your explanation brings it to the application and execution. Tried it today. WORKS perfectly. Looking forward to take it to the golf course. Thanks again great video. Your students are really helpful they ask all the right questions. They are not macho just want to learn the swing.
Porzak is absolutely killing it.
Dude, you explain the feel of the bump so well. Awesome.
Hi loving these videos they are a real eye opener, when you had the alignment sticks showing weight on the in side of the feet was mega for me.
Thanks again👍
Happy with the repetitive explanation as it really helps the motion sink in. At first when explained the inch forward bump to me meant straight to the target. But when explained thoroughly and panning around with the camera angle and at what point of the setup you do this, you could see it's bump lead hip back and forward almost like 30 to 45 degrees which helps spine angle and not swaying off the ball and follow through. this was a great tutorial. Great information/content Porzak Golf!!!
Stack and Tilt this is the move I been doing past 2 years.Pressure on the left pivot on the left .I love your videos. Thank you
This is not stack and tilt.
I needed this video so bad. You guys are life savers
Hip bump. The pressure on the ball of your left foot and inside your right is a great explanation! Thank You.
I switched to stack and tilt 3 years ago. Still hasn’t felt right now what you’re doing is similar but not. I love it and finally I will break into the seventies more often! Will put your method into play for the first time tomorrow. I will report back. Thx!!
Outstanding content. trying to find that anchor piont omg, early extention, all arms and hands, inconsistent every other shot , it's unbelievable, loving the hip bump, could be a game changer for myself, Thank you as usual!
Thanks for watching Kevin!
Thank you some much for these videos. I was talking golf lessons and he made me feel like I couldn't do anything right and basically just gave up. I really wanted to quit, my confidence was shot and then i found your videos and was able to go out, play 9 and shoot a 41, which is huge for me. Thank you Sir.
I am from Chile. I appreciate so much your clear explanations. Thanks a lot for this lesson.
All of I need to learn it's in this VDO. Thank you very much.
Dude… wtf… no one has ever told me about the elbow or setting the pelvis. I finally figured out the elbow on my own not long ago. And it has helped a lot. The positions you give will help refine it and make it easy to make that a constant in my game. Thanks so much! Swinging better than ever.
Thanks, glad you are liking the videos!
I really like your instruction not over complicated, I wish I lived closer. Thanks for the videos

huge fan of the clarity and detailed description of the task in order to make the golf swing efficient and reproducible. great Knowledge easily helped me on my way to single digit handicap
Thank you so much!
Really appreciate this video! I’ve always had a little hip bump in my setup and had been attempting to transition to this one but what I was missing was the feeling of almost being mid-sit to get more over the ball. Great stuff.
Thanks Ryan, we love to hear that! Thanks for sharing!!
This is such a well explained lesson! I have watched so many golf instructional videos. You are the best out there. Thanks.
Thank you so much David!
I just starting watching your videos. You have some talented students. But the guy in this video asked good questions. Ones that most of us hackers would have asked. The young talent you teach are sponges and absorb everything. Guys like me have listen to many different theories so we need to confirm we understand what you teaching. The gentleman in your video did just that.
Thank god he asked that question, and thank you for explaining this.
great advise, Coach Porzak! Can you do a video to solve the issue for a golfer who raise the body and head during the backswing, such as me.....haha! Is it during to my inflexibility or just a bad habit? Cheers!
Thank you for your detailed explanation, wish my daughters can go down there sometime for lessons with you.
We would love to see you some day, thanks for the comment and support!
Does this work for hybrids, woods, driver
Adam I’m serving in South Korea where there are no English speaking pros in my area to assist me with improving my game. Watching your videos that provide clarity and repetitive instruction has helped me go from low 100s to mid to low 80s. Thanks a million.
Thanks so much. You fix my problems 👏
Appreciate the explanation. I had been trying this but was just bumping forward and not back.
Thanks Joe, appreciate the support, glad you like the vids!
great questions and answers.
THANKS again KWG!
I really like this video regarding the hip position and pre-post up. Is this primarily for wedge play, or can you utilize this technique for all of your iron shots? It appears that when you are demonstrating various techniques in your videos it is always with a wedge.
Hey Paul, this hip bump is done through out the entire bag from wedges, irons and driver. We detail this in our Master Class! bit.ly/FullSwingMasterClass
What's beautiful about the hip bump is that you already pre-set counter-balancing of the club and arms going away from target in the backswing. Without the bump, I feel you are actually supposed to do something similar after the takeaway to swing in balance with width and give yourself room in the downswing. Thanks Adam!
Awesome lesson thanks 🎉..
Mannn it’s insane that these videos are free after every one I feel like I owe yall some money because it’s world class golf instruction right here.
Feel free to check out our master class and take your game to the next level!

You're officially my new guru.. Thanks!
We got you 👊🏼👊🏼
Mr. Porzak is Genius. Congratulations
Wow this video is the one where I finally get the magic!!!! Incredible - can I just ask a quick follow up do you also promote hip bump for driver? I was always taught more of the reverse for drivers
Absolutely with a driver! We like to see the left hip a little higher with driver too! Must know that because of a wider stance with a driver your upper body will be more supported by the instep of your back foot at address and to start you will have 55-60% of your weight on instep of trail foot at address.
@@PorzakGolf amazing / off to the range immediately to implement this. Based on the UK by the way - get yourself over here to run some masterclasses in the summer. Let me know if I can help.
Great stuff…You make it look easy. How do I keep my setup from looking so hunched over. I’m a 1 handicap, when I look at my setup it really is hard to look at.
that thing with the right arm is a game changer set-up tip. gold!
You are clearly Top Notch teacher on RUclips. I’ve been using give blood, shake hands, serve dinner for years…
Pro... i have 2 queiries after watching a few of your videos.
1)the hip bump upon setup... is it to the left n back?
2) On the back swing r u using the right hips as the pivot point?.
Thank you
Great instruction.
So thought I had the hip bump sorted but now this video has caused uncertainty in my mind. Does the hip bump affect my posture / spine angle towards the ball and ground in front of me ? i.e. bend from hips over front of belt-line. I thought the hip bump was to tilt shoulders to back foot and allow shoulders to turn back more easily.
Thanks
Great stuff... left anchor point but still turning over right leg...Gary Edwin stuff somewhat similar Adam? Also I notice you keep both feet very square...does this help with your anchor points/brace? Thank you
Feet flare we like neutral unless the individual player needs some. Thank you for watching!
i'm trying to get this setup key, i'm gonna have to actually make a not to keep in my pocket when i go to practice, thnx
I was doing just that until a high level coach told me that lpga doesn't have that kind of set up and it stopped me from weight shifting which is crucial and created reverse pivot so i immediately stopped the K angle set up until i saw this video . This set up does encourage a draw and if this is the case, how to get it straight? Thank you for the video
Love your videos. However, are there any instructional videos where you teach these concepts to SENIORS?
Best instruction out there
@Porzak Golf if you’re facing 3oclock , the hip bump is diagonal to 11. Correct? It makes it feel like your right elbow tucks into the rib and you have a slight reverse K.
Also the back swing rotation feels shorter as a result?
This is fantastic
Do you use the hip bump for driver and fairway woods?
Awesome !!!!
Fantastic instructions! I have deleted all other YTers!! Question. When you turn onto the braced right knee. Does ur right hip stay put? Or does it also go backwards and add depth while keeping knee straight? If so how much does it go back. It appears that it stays the same during the brace portion. Thanks in advance!
Oh no, that right hip is going back! Maintain some flex in the trail knee will make the hip rotation about 30-45 degrees depending on the player, straightening the right leg cause hips to open too much and creates a lot of other problems
Really one of the very best videos on set up, anchor point of swing, movement of right arm, pressure points on feet etc.. Eliminates sway in the backswing and real easy on the back . Valuable insights.Must watch for golfers at all levels.
What's crazy I been swinging like Porsak golf 4 ever and I just tripped on RUclips and found that I was swinging correctly.
I'm trying to get more squared at my feet like Anthony Kim.
Been swinging like AK and Porsak is so similar.
Your videos just dial me in if I have a doubt.
The hip bump...I get it now. The hips stay parallel to the target line when you bump the hips. Thanks.
I used this yesterday found centre of club and divot after ball job done
Would you explain what is happening with your trail knee when you do the bump? It looks like your right knee is straightening.
Adam give me your thoughts on the lifting of the lead heel when starting the downswing after presetting theset up as you show it in the video
Hey Jonathan, I've never seen Adam promote that, but I doubt if it's not to big of a problem he would allow it. - Gabe
There are a great number of "experts" here on RUclips giving advice on how to set up and play golf but this guy is absolutely the best. I just wish he worked and lived in the UK
Thank you Phillip!!
Me to. If I win the lottery I'm on my way to San Diego.
Kinda going towards Stack/tilt with the ancho point on the tilt.
My problem is that I take the club back to far in the backswing, my right elbow raises up away from the body and I lift up my arms a bit and then I come over the top and have to recover a little.
I NEED to reduce my backswing length and work on that timing, but hard to find the trigger points... :(
We turn our chest over our back foot unlike the stack and tilt which turns your chest over your front foot. Very different… However the lower body action might be somewhat comparable
That’s what am struggling with. Getting the pelvis set. It’s been feeling like it’s restricting my turn and it’s jacking my back up.
What effect does this have on the clubface at the top of the swing as i sometimes bow it and shut the face
That’s hip bump its really work for me 👍✌️
We love to hear that Ronaldo!! Thanks for the comment and support!
Do you do the bump before you start the swing?
Yes, with every club.
Hi Adam
Great lesson again..when you hip bump you seem to lose some knee flex..is that accurate? Just to be clear is left side of pelvis moving out and right side moving back??
I wouldn't say any knee flex is taken away. Yes slightly to your second question. Just an inch.
I have had some success with the hip bump but sometimes feel closed off. Could you do that with ball position mixed in? Looks great when you go thru the brace and post demo but wondering if I've maybe got the ball too middle and the bump makes it feel back of center and I react to it.
Depends on what club you are hitting and the width of stance will change ball position as well. We detail this clearly in our Master Class.
bit.ly/FullSwingMasterClass
After watching this video, realized I was doing the hip bump incorrectly by only going to the target. Will practice this in a mirror first than go from there. Thanks
Adam, is the hip bump towards your target....9 o'clock, or is it more in the 8 o'clock position, if the ball is at 12 o'clock? It is hard to determine from this video
9 o’clock! If it went to 8 o’clock it would open your hips and negate your turn in the backswing, very common issue. That’s why sometimes we throw in and pull the right hip back (behind you) 1/2 inch, to square everything up!
@@PorzakGolf thanks Adam. Its been 10 years since I picked up the sticks, and the swing has changed.
Is this stack and tilt, Adam? I see some comments below about it and I don’t see it as that.
No it is certainly not stack and tilt. Any type of similarity in what we do is solely from the lower body perspective. Keeping the lower body forward and anchored as you turn your upper body behind the golf ball is a significant difference of the stack and tilt. His stack and told threw it up to back up out of the golf shot and make many manipulations to adjust for being so in front of it on top of it we do not promote that. We turn our UPPER BODY AND CHEST BEHIND the golf ball over our backfoot so we can move into the shot and maintain constant rotation freely through impact!
@@PorzakGolf okay, that’s what I thought… that’s why I don’t see it as stack tilt. Just need a confirmation.
I couldn’t figure out the hip bump… felt like I was just putting all my weight on my front foot… then I was holding my 3 year old son one day and he was getting heavy… I bumped my hip out to hold him more easily… somehow that feeling helped my brain click on this golf move… instantly felt like I was getting more rotation but somehow the swing also felt shorter and more controlled
This k move has revolutionised my game
hi. correct me if im wrong, when u setup like that with slight 1inch bump to left, when i tried it my weight shift doesnt transfer to my right. its like my weight is all in the left foot. pls clarify. thanks heaps. u help me so much.
I'm feeling the same way. If I'm bumping an inch left (for a right hander), I dont feel any added pressue on my inner right foot like Adam suggests. For me, it makes my hip turn in the backswing restricted. I keep watching over and over for something to just click, but I cant grasp it
@@craigg2058 I think the goal is to have a somewhat restricted hip turn on the back swing. For me, too much hip turn on the backswing causes me to often early extend on downswing. Not sure if I am even doing the hip bump correctly, but it almost feels like I am anchoring the left pelvis over my knee left. On an iron shot I do feel more pressure on the left foot and with on the backswing, the restricted hip turn makes me feel really loaded on the right. Hope this helps.
Another thing that wasn't mentioned is the hip bump allows you to get the low spot on the down swing in front of the ball
Thanks for the addition Jonathan! We appreciate the support and comment!
If our right leg wants to re-plant when we bump, what is going wrong?
Basically are you transferring weight on the left side at address? I'm kind of confused. Thanks
Yes with shorter clubs! But your chest will still turn over your back foot!
@@PorzakGolfthanks for the reply! What would you suggest for longer irons(5-7)? I'm a 12 handicap but absolutely "cannot" stop untimely fat iron shots! Very frustrating. Have tried everything to shallow my downswing!!
Consistently excellent explanations, but why do your players set up with feet square? I am nearly78 years old and square setup wrench my back.
Are you located in Ca?
Yes, we are in San Diego, CA!
I’m trying but I am just not doing it right, I don’t know why, it seems simple and I should be able to implement the hip bump but it keeps eluding me! I’m frustrated as hell!
The left leg drill Peter! Hit some shots on just your left leg!
@@PorzakGolf Adam I love your positive energy that give to all your students, I have learned so much through your U-Tube and Master Programs videos, every video I pickup a golden nugget! Again, thank you for this tip.
Prob is your hip bump looks like to the target and back but you say bump to target only
I feel like the ball position is way to far back on my stance after the hip bump.
Brother I cannot stress enough how helpful this video is. This channel is a goldmine
Where are the masterclasses I hear you talk about?
Check it out here! we would love to see you on the inside!
porzak-masterclass.mykajabi.com/
👍👍👍
Thanks Mark!
This preturn setup makes it easier for body to twirl
Exactly!!!!
@@PorzakGolf preturn setup allows -when we reach the top of backswing to feel the downswing move starts from behind the body hence allowing a later body xtension
I had been following shawn clement on this 2 moves for 5 years with difficulty understanding clearly.but after watching yr videos on setup n how handpath n body connection is important i finally understand the whole process
It would b great if u can do a video on how to apply energising the core from ground up to add power n speed to the swing
Still lost on this hip bump
Does Adam notice he bounces everytime he demonstrates positions? Haha! 😂😂
I do the same thing now in an effort to work on this swing 😅
Yes, he does! lol
It gets him rooted into the ground!
hip bump direction kinda confusing...
We'll work on the delivery!
Why have i not found this earlier?!??? Lol
I still don't fully understand the hip bump. It looks like you're moving your left hip forward and your shoulders back.
When done properly the hip goes to the target and back side, this puts the shoulders more over the golf ball. Thank you for the question!
It's starts the turn, it initiates the turn, and it stops the hips from swaying back and the hips now stay centred over the ball. Also none of that reverse extended look upper body look
Game changer
Question, my shoulders get quite closed after bumping the hip left and back, do you set your shoulder back to square or slightly closed?
Square.
You got it Ken!
Adam could you do a in depth video on shoulder turn with the driver.
I understand the irons. And hit them fairly decent. My driver is on off. I just want to make sure my shoulder turn and Plane is correct with driver.
Money
Getting dizzy watching all that bouncing
lmao, thanks for watching!!
Cheers Adam love you videos I tried this with my hips working every time how can I gain move distance with driver ⛳️🏌🏿♂️🏌🏿♂️🏌🏿♂️🏌🏿♂️👍
Let’s go!
