    Hi there,
Watched your video yesterday, changed front discs and pads on my 55 plate mondeo tdci today. All good!
I had a warped disc too, shame they weren’t that old but obviously can’t change only one.
    Great vid

Hi planning to do this job and so looking at lots of videos.
Could you clean piston rubber and piston sides then silicon grease expose piston to make meeting on piston and sides friction free when it’s pushed in.
I would also have taken pins out and cleaned and silicon greased them.
I am learning so much before I do this
    Thanks for video!

Very ideal as I have one of these cars and need to do the brakes

You should ALWAYS open the reservoir cap when pushing the pistons back into the calipers or you'll end up damaging a seal, then drain out any excess fluid using a syringe if it has been topped up over time as the pads wear down, also you didn't clean the hub face before fitting the disc, any debris or corrosion left behind can cause brake wobble if the two faces don't meet flush.

Much easier fitting the carrier first then fit the pads up to the new discs

Hello, You needs to open the reservoir of brake before all this manipulation?

    • @FlawlessCulture
      @FlawlessCulture  7 лет назад

No you can do this with reservoir closed. No need to remove the cap :)

I didnt, but thats not to say you shouldnt. I know some commented previously saying you should open the reservoir.

No Stainless Steels shims/shoes for the runners???, where the pads sit on? so there's no binding?!

when i replaced dics and pads at the rear the last person to work on the car rounded all the caliper bolts so rear calipers were very rusted out so had to replace new rear calipers and pads lesson use correct scocket size or can be very costly .

michaelstarwars66 Amen to that i had the same thing on my Type R. Luckily I managed to get them off and replace them with new bolts.

Good video, but you shouldn't really start pushing that piston back in without opening the bleed nipple, you could flip a seal in the master cylinder or trash the ABS unit.... And obviously in that case it'd be handy to over fill the reservoir slightly before hand to ensure it doesn't run low when you pump the brakes afterwards.
Also, in my personal opinion, from years of pain caused by other people using them, adjustable spanners should be banned :p

Strider9655 Hi mate thats for the comment! Makes total sense what your saying. Although Ive never had an issue before but thats not to say I wont in the future. I will give your method ago in the future, oh an yeah I hate adjustable spanners but it was what i had to hand during the video lol.

Why take the guides out. Undo the two bolts and the caliper comes off then split it with the guides still intact
