One trick "the old man" showed me, years ago involved collar hooking--which I don't like by the way. But if you DO collar hook, put the hook on the side of the direction of current. If you put it on the other side, the line will pull the bait fish off kilter. You can watch the bait in the water and see for yourself it happening.
I do these exact things... I also get them fired up by saving sardines from every trip and throwing cut bait to get the water smelly and keep them around. Seems to work for me.
Great question! The easiest way to know that there's fish on a dolphin school is if you see them on your meter when going through/around the pod. In general we've noticed that dolphin pods that are holding fish will generally not be interested in swimming along with the boat. This is not always the case, but is a good indicator to when they may be holding fish. Many of the porpoise on the local San Diego banks are holding schools of yellowfin with them right now.
I just picked up a daiwa lexa 400 and need advice pairing it with a rod ..hoping to do some smaller yellowtail and bluefin fishing this year...any advice is appreciated...hoping for pricepoint that isn't too crazy
10 count wtf that fish with has it or not! It’s not a fucking largemouth. Probably the worst tip ever. If your spool jump jumps or line is ripping off put it in gear and wind! Don’t listen to this garbage
Great video. Nicely explained and no long winded garbage. Well done.
Thanks! Appreciate that.
LOL at the end I was like I think your bit before you picked up the rod. Great tips bud.

I need to get a pair of shades like those you have on 🕶
Costa del Mar. IMO best shades for fishing. I have a pair, just not those.
Terrific video. Can I ask what rods these are?
They are custom wrapped Seeker rods
How do you know when schools of dolphin/porpoise have yellowfin with them? How do the dolphin act?
