Bluefin Tuna Hookup screaming drag 2020

- Опубликовано: 3 окт 2024
- Fished over 12 hours casting lures for kingfish and Tuna. decided to switch over to live bait for a little break. took out a live bait about a 100m from the rocks and after 45 minutes of being in the water it got smashed by a big Tuna, was a big splash in the water when it first got hit. A heart pumping fight that ended in my 100lb leader giving up.
I will be back for more next week so stay tuned.
Hope you guys enjoy the video

Caught a few long before this channel so I know this was a tuna run.. was so disappointed at the fact that my 100lb leader gave up. I needed to tighten the drag a little to gain some of the 300 or so meters that I’ve lost but that’s fishing.. you land some and you lose some 🤙
Where's this at..
brown coConut Victoria Australia mate
ever caught one off the stones?
I always adjust the drag, before I send out the bait. Once you start playing with it at the fight, sometimes you can over do it, putting way to much pressure on the line. Anyway it's live and learn, I feel your pain, it's gut wrenching, next time.
@@muhammedPies thanks mate. But where i was i couldn't set it and leave it because i needed just a little pressure at the start so i dont end up loosing my rod if im not near it. Unfortunate but thats fishing
The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
Sorry about the late reply and couldn’t agree more mate. However the weight on the 5500 isn’t too bad but in saying that doesn’t mean I can stand and cast it for 2 hours straight! It does have a solid drag but where I was fishing you really need to pump this fish in.
With all the screaming and commotion behind him, that one guy just does'nt give a damn
Richmond Daque hahaha no he didn’t seem to care at all 😂 love the comment.. no one else picked it up haha
What a solid hookup, my heart broke in half when the line snapped!
Matthew Gergis dame here bro I was so disappointed 😔 but I’ll be back for it soon 😀
My heart broke like I was the one that lost the fish.Awesome clip
Yeah I get disappointed every time I see it haha. I’ll hopefully land one on the next trip.
Cheers mate
FishingFrenzy same here, gutted for you. You were smooth and pretty calm, you couldn’t have done anymore mate.
Wow...heavy drag...awesome...keep it up masterr..🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I did go a little heavier than usual. Thanks mate cheers
Absolutely love that livewell technique.i gotta give that a try next time im fishing live bait from the beach
Thanks mate 👌 perfect spot to have the fish kicking for a few hours.
Dude in the pink shorts fishing the rocks 😂
He's like ...I think I need a bigger rod!!!
BRAHH that was a HORSE!! i felt that line break 😢 how good does your new expo sound!!! looked so smooth too!!
@@BoltImpact that's what keeps ya going!! I got the saltiga 4k sounds soo good and smooth moments like that is when you need the top quality gear👌 next time mate!👍
That’s an awesome reel as well man 😀 can pretty much pull anything. That’s it bro you loose some and win some ayy next time for sure.
Little did they know they were hooked up to a SUBMARINE!
Bad luck bro, great vid all the same, you were working hard there man deserved that fish, but thats the way it goes, we all know that feeling it aint nice but when things go right it makes it that much sweeter.
James Calley 💯 percent I agree mate. That’s what fishing is all about. I just hope the next hookup I have a little luck on my side. Thanks mate
As far as I know the Saltist 6500 LTD max drag is ~35ish lb. I think it's pretty unlikely you had a clean snap of a 100lb leader even if it was knot failure. I think probably sharked but who knows. Cool vid
Where is this
Awesome video boys!!! Can't wait to see you land that beast next time!
Scott M Thanks heaps mate 😀😀
Very nice video, I wish you next time you get this big fish out !!!
Y L 777 Thanks mate 😀 hopefully next time I’ll land it 🤙
First, great vid 👌🏻
What reel are you using....? It's a Trabucco exceed 6000.?
That fish rang his friend to get a scissors
Dammm man, unlucky bro, clean cut it was ✂️
Great video bro....look nice the spot casting....🙋♂🙋♂🙋♂🙋♂
Mas Topo Mancing Thanks bro yeah it’s a really good spot I’ll give it another go soon 🤙
Thank you...
That fish stamina is great, it could be tuna , nevermind next time , poor that fish with a baloon hanging behind for sometime.
Yeah Decent size tuna can give you a melt down. Very unlucky though. The ballon popped during the fight and the rest will dissolve in the water. Hooks should rust and brake off in 3-5 days 😊
Wow great fishing❤❤❤
Lyndon Heraban thank you 😄😄
Great video sir, amazing and beautiful spot, fish on nice strike
Allan King Santiago Buhay thanks heaps mate
@@BoltImpact your welcome sir
Rock fishing nice
Nice scenery awesome video.
Thank you 😄
When I switch from plugging to live bait, I tend to jump the leader to like 300# mono or just wire..
love the video, hope 2020 brings all of us your kind of hookups m8 :)
Love you comment mate 👌 yeah I think the safest option would’ve been wire but didn’t think it was going to be this intense haha. Hopefully after all this crap is over we all go out and have a few crazy hookups 😁
What is the fishing rod you was using. I would want to get one.
Bro you just gave me the best idea on how to put the balloon on your a genius brother thanks heaps for the video, just slip the balloon knot through the swivel hole that’s what I’ll be doin from now on 😁
Haha all good bro.. it’s the only way I do it.. when bait gets taken the knot will either slip out of the swivel or the ballon will pop without causing any knots. All good mate enjoy 😊
@@BoltImpact your a legend brother thanks heaps man 👍🏻
Hey mate great video just wondering what pound main line and leader you were using thanks:)
JCS Fishing Adventures Thanks mate. I was using 50lb main line and 100lb leader. The leader gave up at the knot where the hook was. The drag was a little tight but at one stage I had about 70 meters of line left.
@@BoltImpact ok thanks for the info
Nice video don't be sad it happend to every fisherman hope you will get it in the next time .
Good luck
Jus when you say give it more drag 😂🔥🔥
Great video I really wanted to see how big it was... there's always next time keep up the good work 🤙
Melbourne Land Based Fishing thanks mate.. can’t wait to have another go at another one 🤙 soon 😀
Beautiful video Well done I subscribed to your channel
Honestly how many hours til u hit a bite...
Estong Uacon Was in the water for about two hours before I got that hit.
That's usual time. Only a lucky craft anglers can do a lucky first cast...
what rod are u using
I like this, our hobby and I from Indonesia like fishing.
S.W Tube thank you. That’s awesome I heard the fishing is amazing up there.
wow just about, big fish
How many times can a reel go through that before it’s wore out?
It’s a Saltiga mate and only applying less than 50 percent of its drag so it will do it all day everyday for many years.
@@BoltImpact oh cool deal. I never caught a fish that big so didn’t know how hard something like that is on a reel. Badass video , great job.
Great video 👍😊
Croatia adventurer thank you 😀
AWESOME VIDEO BRO ❤️🥰👍💪
So beautiful this place bro.. where's is this place?. .. Australia?
Yu Sry thanks bro yeah it’s Victoria Australia mate
High stick queen
So good strek💪💪😀😀
Thank you 😀😀😀
Was the clean cut just above the hooks? If so it might have been a big shark. I think that tuna leave a bit of abrasion at the end of the line, same with reef. Just a theory, might be wrong. But great video and well done on even hooking something so big. Not too much big fish get hooked down here off the land
Jamie Doherty Thanks mate 😀 yeah was a clean cut but I recon my leader cut off from the pressure where the hook knot was or I got sharked. I saw the splash when the squid first got hit and it wasn’t a shark take or a shark fight but I could be wrong mate. I was very unlucky and still breaks my heart every time I see it haha.. hopefully next time I have better luck. Thanks for watching mate 😀
great video, they will find your weakpoints, drag could have been more loose after you had tuned and gained yardage. excited to see next hookup.
Alexander Crudello thanks mate. Yeah your spot on.. hopefully better on the next hookup 😀
Damn unlucky, that hurts.
Lochie David very ayyy 😳 thanks legend 🤙
This still breaks my heart :( ! haha
Fishin' with Marki Mark I know ayy 😔 I’m back next Wednesday so we’ll see what happens 😀
I call Tuna bro 👌 those constant head shakes at the start ,,, unlucky man hope you catch it next time
Shark wouldn’t have stopped in the first minute I hooked onto a big female bull and it took 450 metres of line in one run and snapped my penn prevail 2 whole thing lasted 4-5 mins tops
And if that was a king it was a huge one !!
Hey thanks bro 😀 yeah man that area does hold schoolies but this was big. That’s pretty intense with your shark hookup and breaking the rod. Where are u from?
Woow amazing fishing 👍👍😍
ical hantulu thanks mate 😀
Hi👍 is it rod??
Hi, it’s a daiwa saltist hyper 792 pe 5
amazing spot bro
Thanks brother
keep up the good work bro 💪💪
Thanks bro 👌
that drag screams... gives me a goosebump... later must better to use higher rating of leader mate. tight lines.... and upgrade to Saltiga 2020 to more drag scream...
Alan Pratama thanks mate 🙂 yeah I’ll be using higher rating leader next time I’m up there. Cheers mate 👍
I feel your pain brother!! 😥😥, great effort though 👍
Nick. K Thanks mate ☹️ was pretty upsetting but that’s fishing🤙
Aww man I’m hurt. Nice video. Is this in the US?
Thanks heaps.. no this is Australia
Where is that location? Wanna go there
Pm me
That was a schoolie for sure.
fishyu310578 maybe mate 😀
Where in Vic is this ? would love to fish here
what rod are u using?
Daiwa saltist hyper pe5
how nice. greetings from Indonesia
Midu nelayan TRP hi and welcome mate 😀
When a fish is running away from you hold the pole at an angle. The fish will turn with the pressure just switch which way you hold the pole to make the fish change in the opposite direction. That's just how I was taught
demoCRAPS suck hey thanks for the tip mate 😀
You're fortunate only your leader broke and not your rod tip, with the way you were high sticking it.
Nice job bro hopefully we can land the next one
Daniels Jovanoski thanks mate. We’ll land one soon 🤙
where's this spot bro
Unlucky bro, damnnn i'm just watching but i feel the pain 😖😖.
Zee_fitness1 hey bro.. tell me about it lol still want to cry every time I see it haha
Wowwww... Verryy good
Thank you 👍
What kind of aerator was that for the tide pool?
Dont be afraid of the squid bro.. It wont bite 😆
A JP hehe I got bitten before 😂
@@BoltImpact hahah if u get too near the beak it sure will
is there Aus ??
How much drag are you usually using to land these big fish?
urmailingalen This reel has 20kg of drag but never had to fully lock it. Max I’d use is about 12kg but depends on my leader at the time. I always have 50lb braid on that reel and usually run no more than 180lb leader.
Great video. What a spew it got away. Was this during high tide?
Sase Redzovski than you... this was during the incoming tide
Got the same reel man love it
Yao Bo He amazing reel man
More like a ray run, a big one. Run pause run full power. Where about is this in Aus? Nice spot.
I am watching your great video .You are using the same live bait method as me.
Thanks mate.. I just gave you a sub.. I was thinking New Zealand this December for kingfish but things have changed.. maybe next year I’ll be there.
Hello firend good fisong✅💯💯💯💯🎣
kumpau gasak thanks mate 😀🎣🎣🐟

Looks like i'm playing a mix between fish simulator and counter-strike.
Hahaha I love it 😀 if it was I’d be fishing on the bridge near area A haha
RRRAAAAAIIIDERRS. Bummer you lost the fish, due to leader failure.
Tom Cabrera I knoooo bro I was loosing my mind 😔 but I’ll be back for it soon 😀

Nice fishing 👍☝🙏👍 support ❤️
Rien On Tube thanks mate 😀
I feel you bro better luck next time tight lines
Congrats bro, is this daiwa saltiga?

Unfortunate man. Mind me asking if that is at mermaid Inlet ?
Thanks mate. Great spot man but not at mermaid. This was in Vic
Where are you fishing from that you can catch Bluefin from the shore ? Is that Hawaii ?
Nice reel!!! Daiwa...

Such a bummer. Painful to watch. Circle hooks are your friend!
Dr. Farhang Shahzadi thanks mate 🤙
Where’s is this at
Keep fishing you will get better
Thanks mate 😀
Nice catches
Damn I love the reel.
Same mate it’s bloody awesome ayy
@@BoltImpact what the name of your fishing rod?
Can you give me some tip?
I have had exactly same situation many times, while i fight with fish, always line snapped as same like you
Do you know any idea to avoid that situation?
Hey mate, most snap offs like this can happen at the knot between the leader and the braid and sometimes it can happen as a result of rubbing on rock or on the fishes teeth depending on where the hook is. This one I feel it was a result of too much pressure or I got bitten off.
Where is this spot ?? Sydney?? NSW ?
It’s in Victoria mate
You have better spots in NSW mate
@@BoltImpact how do u know
@@brucewu3622 I’ve fished NSW usually targeting kingfish around January
