By far the most skilled youtube angler I’ve seen, proper rigging, good tips, and a guy that actually knows how to fight a fish. Definitely subscribing and looking forward to watching more videos
This was total execution'! Excellent instruction and perfect tutorial. I've been fishing about 10 years and never once seen an Angler go in High Gear while the bite was fresh. I've always waited until I could see deep color or wait for the Tuna to do the Death circle. Can't wait until my next trip April 16th 2023 on the New Lo Ann 2-Day. Thanks for the amazing Video #New #Subscriber!
Thanks DJ. It’s hard to not drop down to lighter line when other people are getting bit. I don’t want to be the guy fighting a fish for hours when it’s time to move to another spot.
@@artemisadventures1734 i have been both guys landed my pb in 5 min at night with 100 lbs test and an 80 lbs fish on 25 lbs bass setup at least the 80 lbs kept the school around
The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel ruclips.net/user/postUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.
@@artemisadventures1734 Maybe silly question.. Does it it seem more likely that knots will fail with more of them than just going from Mono to Braid? Or, is it more likely to have knot failure of going direct from mono to braid? thanks.. Nice fish.. Very efficient extraction.. hahaha
The thought for me is that you don’t want to add any more knots in your line than you need to. It seems that every time a fish is lost, it’s at the knot (unless the fish chews through the line, prob more likely).
Worst twisting of your bait braid n sinker idea yet cause if you need to get down to 400 feet plus you hafta drop if slower than full speed cause it will get all twisted up at full speed So this method only works at shallower depths and slower decent However if you do a standard dropper loop you can send your bait down at full speed Stay away from fades stick with what still works still gave the guy a thumbs up
You’re totally right. This technique works good on private boats too. I’ve been using the drop shot rig for deep fast drops. It took me a while to warm up to it but I love it now.
I didn’t think it was that big either but I got it processed. Maybe they were trying to make a couple extra bucks off of me. It was a nice one either way.
This way works pretty good when it’s not too crowded. I know some small rod/reel commercial guys that fish this with a 20’ leader. But that’s on a small boat with two people. You’re right though, I’ve been using the drop shot rig more than this lately.

Well, that’s a nice comment. Much appreciated.
Thanks for showing the etiquette and the guys correcting you to tell him to go under. Great communication seems key
Yeah, it’s easy to get excited when you’ve got your one shot a potential fish of a lifetime. I make an effort to try and stay calm.
Awesome job from showing the sinker rig how to, and then letting your bait go perfectly, and a 140lb trophy!

Thanks David! The kind words keep me motivated to keep posting.
140# in 8 minutes, congrats for having the right gear and knowing how to use it. That's how it should be done, watch and learn.

Bro that doesn't look like a 140#
Great video

On the boat! Nice fish!
Holy crap you made that look easy
Thankyou for the instruction manual.
Great videos dude. Simple and to the point. Let’s try and get out and fish sometime and put a video together!
I checked out your channel. Great vids. I’ll trade you fishing out of SD for some trout fishing in your area. :)
Nice fish. well done.
So how was the drop shot style work???
Check out this video:

Thats a nice T bar on the reel, where did you get it from?
This one was from Squidco
Which rail rod are you using?
Calstar 7’ XXH
That was epic!
what type of line are you using?
Floro: 80 lb yozuri
Mono: 80 lb Izorline
Braid: IDK, bought reel used with it on there
What I’m using doesn’t make it the best. Just what I used.
what knot did you use connecting braid to Floro?
I use the RP knot
@@artemisadventures1734 5 or 7 turn?
I just do a whole bunch of turns. Probably closer to ten.
Nice Job..what kind of reel did you use?
This was a Talica 20
What was your rod and reel set up
How are you connecting your topshot to your fluoro? Thx!
I use the uni to uni knot. It works for me.
Line?
Nice job! Did you have a mono top shot then tied to a short fluoro leader? Or straight braid to fluoro?
About 100’ of 80 lb mono, then 5’ or so of 80 lb floro.
@@artemisadventures1734 thanks for the tip! I have a 2.5 in 3 weeks
@Blueskies Shimano Talica 20 with braid backing

Why do you use a rubber band,,???
The rubber band lets you adjust your leader length and minimizes the number of knots you have in your line.
@@artemisadventures1734 makes sense thank you
Finally someone showing how to properly rig a sinker setup!! I can’t stand the friggin helicopter rig that collects everyone on the drop!!!!
is your talica stock other than the handle? rod rating since you made it look so easy
Talica 20ii
Calstar GFGR-765-H 50-120 lb rating
What aftermarket handle is on the the reel? Tiburon T-Bar?
Why don't you just use a swivel at each end of the weight??????

Awesome
140 weighed? Looks closer to 80-100. Nice fish🤙

🤙
Nice fish but that ain't no 140lbs tuna, maybe 70-80lbs tuna, congrats
I don’t think pictures or videos do fish sizes any justice. I have a picture of it on the scale though…. Just sayin.
You are in low gear way too early
Agreed
Way to early for low gear
I know, I know. But, still put it on the boat in 12 minutes!
That sinker set up is called the helicopter fuck your neighbor rig. Thats incorrect my kind sir
