Tony ! I see that DAIWA BG MQ ! What a workhorse of a reel ! I hooked into a 30inch Cobia from shore last Saturday in about 1 - 2 ft of water. My Daiwa BG MQ 3000 handled that strong Cobia so well . What a fight ! It is by far my favorite in shore reel I’ve ever purchased . I want to go test it off shore with the grouper and bigger snappers . 😂😂😂

I lost 3 big ones the other day because the skin of the bait ended up covering the tip after the fish took them...they moved the bait every time. I was told told to tie the bait on the hook so that doesn't happen...I moved up to a shaunessy gold hook that's larger and thicker also the circle hooks pissed me off also the fish hit so hard and fast I don't think they had time to work so now they are J styles..hopefully when I go tomorrow I dont have that problem again.

What's the trick for fishing with the head of the mullet?
You can do it the same way! Rig through the eyes!
I usually use 4/0-5/0 for essentially for gator trout, to small sharks. All in the circle hooks. And will use live pin fish rigged right behind the anal fin or dorsal fin with fantastic result. And just snip the tail fin in half and half the top fin off to slow bait down.
