Yum!!!!!!! Heck yeah, 190- 210..... it’s all the same with dark meat, especially when it’s steaming in yummy spices and SABORRRRRRRRRRRRRR hot sauce from Texas Pete! Looking forward to seeing the seasoning job on the LSG!!! Thanks for the channel mention Big Lew!!! 👍🏻
I know this video is 2yrs old, but RUclips suggested it since I’ve been researching cast iron grills. Did this up tonight, used boneless/skinless thighs instead of quarters. Was awesome! thanks Big Lew!
The Chicken dinner looked delicious . I'll have to be on the lookout for that cheese . I like the size of that grill , I mostly cook for only one or two people so it would be handy and not burn much charcoal . Thanks for the review . Subscribed to be inspired to cook more on charcoal more often . Ontario Canada .
Thank you, I like the grill. I bought it a few weeks ago when Lodge first made it available on their website. I have now seen it at Walmart. I have pan to continue using this grill and making RUclips videos with it. I do like it, I’m not convinced I like it better than the Sportsman’s, but I like it just as well in its own right. A big advantage of this one is that it is round. Yes that is less surface grilling space than the Sportsman’s, but it provided better even heating for round skillets, pots and Dutch ovens. I also find this grill is easier to clean up and care for than the Sportsman’s, less parts and because it is round it fits in my kitchen sink to rinse it off. Before I do that I just pick the bottom up with one handle to dump the ashes, then sweep it with a hand held whisk broom. Thank you for watching, I will give all my Kick Off Grill videos the hashtag #KickOffGrill so you and others can find them easily.
You speak Spanish well, in my opinion. I speak nunya, lol. I also have a new kick off grill, same one, yet to use it, but looking forward to it. Your videos are getting me ready to use it!
Oh yeah chicken n rice, flashback to childhood. Mom didnt kick it up like ya did thou. Great cook, looking forward to a sportsman grill kickoff grill head to head comparison.
Simple can be best. Packaged food is way better than it used to be. Carolina Chris is an old friend. Looking for a Sportman Grill but they are hard to find right now. I like my dark meat well done. Welcome to Cast Iron Wednesday, and thank you for the awesome CIW recipe, Lew.. Stay safe and stay warm
Just made this, YUM! Knorr mexican rice with 1/3 can of diced tomatoes I had and finely diced bell pepper and onion and a little sriracha. Chicken breast vs dark meat was all I had on hand but after grilling then braising in the rice mixture in cast iron on my Akorn Jr grill it was tender and juicy. I'll be making this again. Thanks Big Lew!
Chicken and rice is oh so nice! That looks delicious too Big Lew! A very good cast iron/grill cook. Queso fresco is excellent, I use it a lot. Have a fine week and keep on cookin!
Don't hold your breath, best bet is to buy from lodge direct and use an shipping consolidation and shipping service for example MyUS. I gave up waiting for their bakeware to make it across the pond and went direct.
Oh Man !!! Oh Man Lew !!! You are acing the cool kids brother 🙌🏻 Woo!!! And Sabor 🥵 I am loving that cheese 🥰 Them Corrections ..... yep! That’s what they are for me as well 🤣 Awesome Cast Iron Wednesday..... mouthwatering as expected. I am starting to groove on that little kickoff grill Sounds like that SG is soon to be back in the game 🤗 👍🏻
Oh now this is one heck of a meal that rice perfectly flavored and seasoned and cheesy with the glorious barbequed chicken it all must be soooo delicious. The dark meat is the way to go as far as I'm concerned and some of these packet rice mixes work really well I found some Louisiana Fish Fry rice mixes here that I thought were really good but I've never seen that Knorr brand here. Awesome cooking Big Lew. I'm fairly new to the channel so I imagine you must have had this comment before but that's one amazing back yard there, awesome scenery!
I'm amazed that the rice did not burn or stick in the skillet!! You nailed this one Big Lew! Love skillet meals like this and you can add so many things to the mix. I need to find that version of Texas Pete. Great video bud. Have an awesome week!
There was a little caramelization of the rice in spots. Not burned but like a socarat in a paella. It was delicious. I actually shot video of it but cut it out because this video was too long. My skillet is well seasoned it wasn’t going to stick. I will PM you the out takes of the rice.
Yes, I can hear the carcinogens sizzling up on that chicken. Just grill your chicken on a decent bbq pit and stop eating charred chicken. No mucho bueno, muchacho.
So glad that you are so concerned for my health. Since my wife passed away, it’s nice to know I have some one to look out for me now. It’s quite comforting.
I’m concerned about anyone who listens to you or follows your example. I grill all the time, but I don’t burn my chicken like you do on this video. Now, in case you think I don’t know what I’m talking about, I got the following from cancer.gov: “Heterocyclic amines (HCAs) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are chemicals formed when muscle meat, including beef, pork, fish, or poultry, is cooked using high-temperature methods, such as pan frying or grilling directly over an open flame (1). In laboratory experiments, HCAs and PAHs have been found to be mutagenic-that is, they cause changes in DNA that may increase the risk of cancer.”
I use a small gallon steel drum. I have demonstrated it in several other videos. In my latest video you can see it at the 105 mark. ruclips.net/video/KvPR2EboFco/видео.html

Next video will feature the LSG with new grill grate. Thanks so much Chris.
Haha...fun post. You rock Carolina Chris. I always add several whole cloves of garlic to my rice, when cooking for my self.

It is a fairly simple family meal on the grill.

I just scored a kick off grill at Walmart for $35 on clearance 🤗 enjoying your videos on this grill.
I love this grill. I used it the other night for pork steaks. That is a fantastic pricey
Thanks for posting videos on this grill. I’ve been checking RUclips everyday and you are the only one posting vids about it so far.

One of my favorite weekend cooks Big Lew. Chicken thighs and i like the dollar pack off Mahatma Yellow Rice.

@@BigLewBBQ heck yeah 💪🏻 tag team the even 😎
Man you have a slew of good Big Lew BBQ hanging out with the cool kids on Cast Iron Wednesday 😉😎👍🏻
What are those long tongs you were using?
For the charcoal? Those are about 70-75 years old. They date back to circa 1950!
Good looking dish, bro! Sanding cast iron? Who in the world?? 🤣😆
I don’t think it is a good idea. Just use it and it will smooth out.

The 10 second rule applies to forks as well as brisket, chicken, and hot dogs.
That’s a good rule!
Looks like you're supporting the kick off grill on a plastic bucket. Do you put anything between to insulate the bucket?
It’s not a plastic bucket. It’s a stainless steel beer keg.
BIG LEW! Do what you do..!!
Thank you
Why not cook on the stove ???

It’s chicken and rice but not Mexican food .
I agree but it has some flavors inspired my Mexican cuisine.
