I love your sense of sound design. Andrew Huang has a video covering a similar topic, how artists should set aside time in the studio to "play", time to discover things that working in the middle of a song can sometimes prohibit. Following that advice, I like to make synth patches for the hell of it, and figure out what to do with them later. Now I want to try making sample packs using the method you described here. And, I canNOT wait to hear this new album!

oh man, I love Andrew Huang. super inspiring.
what do you use to make your synth patches?

@@daspetey Re: Andrew Huang, hard agree! You, sir, are also an inspiration.
I use Vital for patch making. If you're interested, I'll happily share. Most of the original patches I've made whole-cloth on my own that I've used in my tracks are bass patches. All my good patches are made from RUclips videos.

@@daspetey It is both stand alone and a .vst3 plugin. vital.audio/
It's often compared to Serum in its sound design capabilities, and there are a ton of YT videos out there to learn how to use it. (i have no affiliation with Matt Tytel - the developer - I just really love the program).
