I saw this tour in the Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford New Jersey. a Month before this one. One of the best visually staged concerts that I experienced. We were on the floor about 35 rows back. Also remember Billy and Dusty standing on top of the radio set. the fuzzy guitars spinning, and then sinking into the set Behind Frank. What a great time.

Today is one of the saddest days in rock and beyond. We lost a musician, a singer, one tough hombre, a legend and a hero. Thank you for all that you have given us all these decades. RIP Dusty Hill May 19, 1949 - Jul 28, 2021 We love you and you will be sorely missed.

Agreed and thank YOU Dusty, RIP... Saw ZZ Top for 1st time at the Cow Palace for the El Loco tour, will NEVER forget it. Never seen that many Hells Angels assembled in one place in my LIFE!!! Was also here at Mountain Aire for this show too, good times and GREAT memories! And THANK YOU for posting this performance, it's people like yourself that make You Tube the greatest web site on the planet for these moments when we come here to honor, cherish and remember our musical HEROES either still living or who have passed. VERY much appreciated my friend, gracias!

I saw this tour in Buffalo, NY. What a concert, what a band! There will never be more people who can say "I saw ZZ Top live" than there are now. RIP Dusty, and thanks for all the great music!

I still have my All Access Pass in beautiful condition for this Concert at Mountain Aire. I got to be on the left side of the stage behind curtain by myself. What a view, within 6 feet of Dusty Hill jamming! Had beers at local bar with Night Ranger members the night before! Also got to personally escort Dale Bozzio, singer with Missing Persons, around the festival grounds. What an experience!

Awesome memory, am I correct that the name of one of the other bands was "The Unforgivin"?

Interesting story. I was working as part of Rock’n Chair Productions as a Promoter and our security was extremely tight. I even hired my stepdad to keep the generators filled with fuel all weekend to keep the stage powered up.
How did you gain All Access Passes ?

I was there too. They were great. They flew in by helicopter right behind the stage. It was a daytime concert and was hot as hell there. People passing out from heat exhaustion and fire trucks spraying everybody down. Still would go again though!

I went there with my ex wife. They had these sprinkler pipes set up people could cool off under.I remember the spinning fuzzy guitars. what a great show. Much better than about a dozen years ago up in Murphy’s. I might be wrong but I think the band was flown in from a hotel around Copperopolis.

Hello Folks! Well, after listening to this whole show,I can say with complete confidence this is a copy from my master tape. I perpetrated this recording using a Sony WM-D6C professional stereo cassette recorder combined with a pair of Nakamichi CM-300 Microphones. I had been taping concerts for about 3 years at this time and was very proud of this recording. It's good to see it up on You tube. This was my standard go to set up for several years. In fact I had purchased the microphones about a month before this show, from World of Sound,Van Ness Avenue,San Francisco. I caught the Top a number of times and I believe Billy Gibbons playing at this show was nothing short of phenomenal.
By the way,the date of this show is July 20th,1986 and if my memory serves me correctly,Night Ranger opened up for them.
There was a serious biker presence at this show. My friends and I had Shrooms as a main course with a Peyote button for desert. What a day! :-)

Thx for sharing.I was there as well. Miss those days. I remember leaving the fairgrounds and there was a huge line of vehicles backed up. So I cut through a field to the main road to get around the traffic. Several others followed me. Good times!

Damn,I was hoping that this had the video along with the audio. Saw this tour here in Atlanta at the Omni. Before the show they had covered up the drum set area with a huge white tarp. They had a big model of the head of King Tut,with sunglasses on. He had red laser coming from center of sunglasses. They lowered King Tut down over white tarp.Dusty and Billy came out playing “under pressure “as King Tut snorted that white tarp up his nose.Revealing Frank kicking ass on drums! Pretty much this same show! For three man band, they can bring it ! Saw them five times but this was my favorite tour.

Tut was hanging from the rear view mirror. The entire stage was the dashboard of the car and the band was where the radio would be. We had a laser projection of the red ford with green wheels spinning above the stage, Just basic red and green lasers from the 80"s lol. which then dissolved inside the car and revealed the dash

Have seen em some 20 times since but first time will always be the best!!! We were 22 yrs old wild as hell!!

On the way there, through Angel's Camp, we were behind a car with license plates reading: " To ZZ Top". Then my husband got a traffic ticket when he passed a stopped car. Ticket was, according to the cop, for "cutting in line", which I've never heard of as a traffic offense. Great concert!!!! anyway.
