Yuri's plan was genius. Aint no way the father chose not to press charges. The ONLY reasoning I can think of is either there was some sus stuff about how they got all that momey in the first place so they didn't want to do legal action that could lead to them getting in trouble, OR the were confident that they could make back all that money in a relatively short time, so they didn't feel like stressing through legal action. Clearly it wasn't the second idea if the restaurant closed and they moved away. Idk, this story is wildddd

Two more theories:
First, tax evasion could be a reason why they used a safe in the first place and not the bank. Plus, it could be why they wouldn't want to report the amount to press charges.
Second, since it says back to their country, I'm not sure how exactly they got everything in motion, but it's definitely possible that they were not legally immigrated and didn't want to get tied up with the law regarding them and their business. Which could be why they left after the business was closed.
I don't know what's more wild. The fact that Leon's crazy ex and her friend recklessly spent all of the money in about a week or Leon's parents not pressing charges/peacefully handling the whole thing

Only reason I can think of for them not doing that, is because they had some shady things going on and didn't want the police snooping around, which would explain the safe/shoe box instead of a bank. Either for tax reasons, the restraint is a front for something else, or the family wasn’t there legally.
What sucks about our justice system is depending on which state this happened in that recording could be thrown out as evidence since the girl was not informed/give consent to having herself recorded.
UK law doesn’t count non consensual recordings as evidence sadly. This happened in London so it’s most likely that the ex gf would get away with it if it went to courts.

I've gotten to a point where I don't even know what to do with random acts of kindness. I'll try to return it, but there's always a sneaking part of me that will think it's because they want something out of me (and majority of the time, they are).
