- Firefighters are battling a fire at a commercial building in the Signal Hill area that's sending a large plume of black smoke into the air. MORE: abc7.com/signal-hill-commerci...
I think the owners of the building told the fire fighters not to rush as we need in insurance money!
Fire Fighters seem don't know what to do. So many fire trucks but only 2 working until the buildings almost gone by fire.
Si perché hanno più mezzi che personale .
It took a big amount of time to bring out some water and to get to the roof.
Two ladder trucks at the start and no water from above? Only two lines in play? After TWENTY MINUTES?
Thanks for confirming that you have no clue what you are babbling about
They may not have enough water supply to flow 3 ladder, a 2.5, and four 1.75
@@virgilhilts3924 Well, your comment did nothing to tell him where and how he is wrong. I see you have three other useless humans that agree with you so that must make you feel good about yourself.
@@HUNZY-qo3cv Too bad none of it got on any burning material.
I like the surround and drown concept. 2½" hand lines, being held by 1 FF, can't be putting out much PSI on the fire. A platform apparatus can do wonders. From a 20 yr FF (ret.)

The smoke could be toxic, smoke always is.
Hope everybody's OK.
A trench cut is great but you know another thing that works at stopping fires? Putting water on it from above with a truck.
Or even planes and helicopters.
Those 1 3/4” hand lines are wasting water. They master streams and lots of them before they lose the block.
@@mikehoysler4322
Each and every hand line being used was a 2.5"... but thanks for confirming you have no clue what you are talking about
Which is why they used it... dErP
@@virgilhilts3924o a 2.5” getting 100psi at the tip and one guy has it tucked under his arm? No. Not today, not in this video, only wrapped and tied down as that pressure would kick his azz. OMG you’re a mOrOn.
THIS IS INTENTIONAL
RUclips fire investigator.
The rubber and foam roof is burning. Look where the water is going. The fire stopped because it ran out of roofing material. Notice the Fountain Statue water application that kept the concrete floor from burning.
How come they're cutting a trench in the roof? Fire gonna be out long before they're done, and it looks like fire could burn right across the roofing material left between the saw cuts. Fortunately fire didn't spread to the roof of 1749; appeared to be a tall parapet on that side which might slow the spread. It did seem to take a very long time to get water from above over to that side.
So that if it the fire cuts through that 1 hour fire wall which is what stopped the progression of the fire throughout the warehouse the fire goes vertical and not horizontal and push its way through the building
Good job camera team, FD 🎉! Getting it knocked down pretty quickly
Nothing changes in the City of Angel's, does it? I can remember, though, when Signal Hill was nothing more than a bunch of oil wells and scrub.
Seems like there are a lot of these type fires. What is usually the cause? What can be done to reduce such events?
these industrial buildings are often packed with all kinds of machines, parts, and chemicals. all it takes is for one of those machines to malfunction
Eu acho que são feitos de material de plástico 🌷
They need to have their own fire hose at the building.
Question… does the on-site Battalion Chief every tie into your live feed for video from above?
The building next to the burning building, should have been the primary spot for them to focus on, to protect the connected structure. But instead they just let it burn while he sprays water on the part that’s not on fire.
Thanks for confirming that you have no clue what you are babbling about
Maybe the fire dept knows there is a fire wall between them and know they can handle it.
@VIRGIL HILTS If only You did. You might have discussed their performance rather than make one of your USUAL childish comments.

@@virgilhilts3924 If you 2 had a baby it would argue with itself and lose every time.
they got that first engine pumping hard
actually surprised only one master stream to the roof and to see them employ the trench cut to try to cut off the fire
Why wouldn't they place aerial to cut spread to building on left? What are they attempting to do on the roof?
Its called a trench cut,
A trench cut? They are hoping the fire wall will stop it
@@gordonjeffery2062 looks like the attached building on the left has a fire wall where they deployed the master stream. They were on the roof at the other end doing trench cut trying to save other half of burning building with saws.
Civilian here, just trying to understand. At the 2:00 mark, the ladder went up. But water didn't flow onto the roof till about the 7:00 mark. Is that normal?
Yeah. They are getting water hooked up to the truck. The fire trucks that arrived first had first priority to the hydrants so they need to find another one to hook up to
Inefficient strategy. Snail speed. Idle resources.. poor assessment..
That is some strong work by the fire department. That is one helluva stop. Full marks to the chief for ordering the trench cut to the exposures.
ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Why didn't he stop the fire from the beginning with water on the burning roof material?
USELESS DIGGING IN THAT PART OF THE BUILDING. INSTEAD OF POURING WATER ON PART OF BURNING PARTS. 😢
Just spend the times. No rush .
Thank you as great coverage of that fire and what a wonderful job those fire fighters make of putting out such a huge fire.
😂
On scene for 20 minutes, and only two hand lines flowing? Were there supply issues?
why are they cutting in to the roof, meters away from the fire??

You're seriously embarrassing yourself
A gigantic ladder truck and no platform where the water jet operator can do his work much more safely and comfortably! Modern times?
They need to invent fire resistant roofing materials
Underwriters Laboratories informs the fire service that only 5% to 10% of water applied to a fire contributes to extinguishment.
Someone please explain how 2 hose's are gonna put a big fire out?? So so glad I don't run a business in America
me to idiot.
Firefighters have to spray water on that building first to prevent it from spreading to other buildings... What does the fire command center do?
Lots of fire trucks, not much fire fighting going on.
If you knew what you were looking at you'd see quite a bit of fire fighting going on.
Why the constant zooming in and out??? Just keep the pic steady and we can see everything.
Hope and pray there are no fatalities or serious injuries
Amen 🙏🏼 lord blessing stop ✋

Yup

Why dont they use Ariel ladder?
Why is the firemen cutting the roof with chainsaws??
They need goober & Ms Throttlebottom to help fight the fire.

In the firefighters of the United States, the white helmet is an officer, the red helmet is a sergeant and the yellow helmet is a plain firefighter?
White is usually an officer. The rest of the color designations change from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. Where I'm from in Virginia Red is a Probie, Black is a FF.

Worse fire fighting I’ve ever seen
Doesn't look like much of a battle looks more like a surrender
It's called defensive attack.
LA COUNTY fire has this one dialed in. It will take time for knockdown but the plan and apparatus placement are going to tame this fire as fast as they can develop the waterflow needed. Good operation.
I don't think that is L.A. County. It is in incorporated Signal Hill and Incorporated Long Beach. Maybe I missed something though.
most of the time they waste water

I see no defensive work going on to protect the adjacent building and very little water being put on the main fire
@mow4ncry
I see you really don't know anything about firefighting
A lot more than you think the only thing they should do on the main fire is keep it from getting further back in the building
@@mow4ncry
You have literally no clue what you are babbling about...
"I see no defensive work going on to protect the adjacent building"
-None was needed as it was an air gapped concrete wall building and the primary was clearly NOT threatening it and also clearly being brought under control.
"very little water being put on the main fire"
-Initially they had four 2.5" pre-connects which combined were likely flowing about 1,000 GPM combined... Not even close to "very little"
-And once the later was staged, raised, and supported with an engine it was likely flowing an additional 1,500 GPM or so... Again, not even close to "very little".
-In addition, as more equipment arrived they began to stage and set up for any additional needs, this would include a third ladder set up on the exposure.
-But clearly none of this was needed as they were making good progress on the fire.
I would suggest you stop making yourself look foolish as you clearly aren't experienced on the subject.
اللهم لك الحمد والشكر يالله انا افرح عندك ارى كغره يحترقون😂😂😂😂😂😅
Why are they spraying the ground and not the roof on fire?
That goes to their work ethic.
