The only resemblance between Bret and Jani was their hair and Janis always looked well styled and Brets was a mess. Jani was 6'1 and Bret was about 5"9. Their facial features were completely different. Not to mention Jani was 10X the talent.
I had two copies of DRFSR wear out before Cherry Pie was even released. Like any real fans of course I believe his later music really showed his true Talent as a lyricist and songwriter but when it came to straight-shooting good time party rock and roll it can't be beat. By the time Cherry Pie was released I was a devoted Jani lane fan.
I think I'd give just about anything to have had this amazing old footage of in high-definition. It breaks my heart watching entire concerts where his face is nothing but a white light. It's a shame that whoever has control of his later concerts and Home Videos doesn't realize that he has fans who think every minute of footage is golden. I enjoy seeing Eric in this earlier stuff he's a great guy and was well-spoken and unfortunately really faded to the back on stage. Oh I get it I swear I'm so old with no interest in catching up with the world it's all about copyright infringement. I wondered why I couldn't find a copy of the Down Boys video anywhere. They don't miss a freaking thing.
A lot of the 'serious rock' guys 😐 - from the earlier '80s ripped on bands like Warrant ... And Bulletboys, Winger, etc ... But these were GREAT live bands - They could really play, live.
Some of my favorite bands are late 80s “cheese metal”. Warrant, Poison, Cinderella, late 80s Motley Crue, etc. I know they aren’t great musical pioneers or anything. But their music is just so fun to listen too. They didn’t take themselves too seriously and just had a good time and put on a show. A lot of the early 80s era stuff was good. Maiden, Priest, Dio, Early Def Leppard all good stuff. But it just seemed more serious and not quite as enjoyable in my honest opinion. But that’s just me. I know most of the rock snobs don’t want to acknowledge hair. But I don’t care. It was a huge era with some great songs
this has to be '89. debut record was released 1/31/89 and right away the band referenced already being on tour. Plus, the Metallica "One" video debuted in Jan '89
4:30 "HE looks like ME" "I've never slept with him, so I can't really say" hahaha, what a good sport. Even loaded, Jani was wittier and more goodnatured than most Ball guests; he didn't have the typical bullshit machismo. But why was Jani always getting injured in the most ridiculous ways? Every televised interview I've ever seen him in, he was talking about something else he had broken or torn or bruised.
Ya he was a bit like that. He was the tamest of the group and I think the oldest too. He was married and trying to stay "good" but he had his own fun too.
Hello Warrant... this is the future. You’ve got three years to laugh it up... then it’s all over. You’re going to have to get jobs like every other joe-blow out there.
At the time, they played what we in NJ called "hard rock" and metal. So it would be anything from Warrant, Ratt, Poison to Tesla, LA Guns, and GNR to Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer. They wouldn't play straightforward guitar-driven rock like Night Ranger. Towards the end of the era (like 1991 or so) you would see more ballads and cheese like Trixter and Slaughter and whenever they came on there would be a collective groan from the people at my house.
Warrant was kind of a poser band that road the hair metal bandwagon, but they had some pretty great hair metal tunes. They were better than they got credit for. Granted, it was pretty unserious party music, but it was great in its context. All these tracks are solid: Down Boys Big Talk Heaven Uncle Tom’s Cabin Sometimes She Cries In The Sticks I Saw Red Ridin’ High Cherry Pie Machine Gun Undertow
Omg it’s that mtv dude - Adam ant??? Plz type in ripon rabbit hole heaven - and. F2b ep 1507 Scroll into 2 hours 44 min - listen til 2 hours 56 min - watch light start blinking 💡

@Charles W yes it was Adam Curry.
Miss Headbanger’s Ball and the old MTV so bad. Kennedy and Adam Corrolla (Love Line) are on Fox News.
Jani lane looks perfect. He is really good looking. How a man looks so handsome.
Brett Michaels looks good.Jani looks a bit goofy.big ass eye balls
One of the best album covers of all time
Went to a LOT of Warrant shows and so glad I got to see the amazing Jani Lane live back in the day. What an incredible talent!
Oh man what a classic!!! Enjoyed watching. Good times, good memories for sure.
REST IN PEACE JANI LANE...
The horrible thing about him dying, was his singing voice was still pretty good! ... Such a waste.
Three Words....”You Kicked Ass!!” 💋

I saw this the night it aired.
Warrant 1st record came out 1989 not 1988 so this has to be from 89
Saw them in concert in 2001 in a small conference room at the Reitz Union at UF. Not like the old days but they were still great. 👍🏻🤘🏻

I saw them live in Denver way back in 80s and was aslo in there fan club to

Ĺike your video. Man I remember watching the show
I believe this is 1989.
1988. Down boys video premiered in Sept 88
this has to be '89. debut record was released 1/31/89 and right away the band referenced already being on tour. Plus, the Metallica "One" video debuted in Jan '89
Thanks, awesome upload. That said this interview reminds me why I preferred the guest-hosted Ball episodes to sit-downs.
miss jani lane rip and headbangers ball wad the shit
Woww interviewed by Adam Curry!
4:30 "HE looks like ME" "I've never slept with him, so I can't really say" hahaha, what a good sport. Even loaded, Jani was wittier and more goodnatured than most Ball guests; he didn't have the typical bullshit machismo.

I’m guessing the heavy drinking🔥
Or it was a macho thing to have happen. He proudly checked off his injuries.
I do love these old interviews, BUT, can one person answer the questions at a time! Geesh...everyone talking over each other gets annoying fast!
Oh to go back to this time & talk to Jani. Slow down, don't party quite so hard. Would he have listened?
Is it me or does Eric Turner give that douce vibe? He looks at Jani like STFU a lot.
Ya he was a bit like that. He was the tamest of the group and I think the oldest too. He was married and trying to stay "good" but he had his own fun too.
Has this Veejay worked since this show? Did he change his name?
refreshing to see Eric without those stupid sunglasses
so metal they didn't even play their own guitar parts on their album,,
According to the producer Beau hill they played and recorded all the rhythm parts and some licks but mike slamer play the solos
Lol @ Warrant on the Headbangers Ball.
U must be young.dude. headbangers ball was mostly hair metal and yea thrash etc also
I interest on trade shows, let me know

Hi my name is Mike Iam Looking for people to trade episodes of Headbangers Ball
"Try not to rip anybody off". A little too late for Led Zeppelin
I had no idea Adam Curry was such a terrible interviewer. That was painful.
lol .. the hair on all three of those guys.. looks silly as fuck
People hated Richi Ractmann?? this host was terrible....
Hello Warrant... this is the future. You’ve got three years to laugh it up... then it’s all over. You’re going to have to get jobs like every other joe-blow out there.
I still question why Warrant was ever even played on the Ball ? I guess back in the day anything with long hair was deemed ‘metal’
hair metal killed MTV

It's a sub genre off of metal...there's Many different types of metal....
@@garycoates4987they were still going after metal when they jumped on the grunge bandwagon 🤷♂️
The 80's high poodle long hair always bothered me. The guy giving the interview has that stupid poodle high hair.
Too bad Jani became such fucking mess and fell to his demons...
