He had such a sense of humor, he was so naturally. And he did so much for the '80 and the music. He was...He was just amazing. I love you Jani ♥ Never gona forget you !
You're serious? Jani was an incredibly talented front man, but his vocals here are atrocious. You can tell he had been drinking heavily before going up there.
@@latinolawdog5067I know you won't get this but how exactly were you able to tell he had been drinking heavily. He was completely clear during the interview not sluring his words and sure didn't stagger up to the stage or stumble around when he got there. Apparently you never saw Jani when he was hammered. Sadly he spoiled enough of what could have been iconic shows because he couldn't put the bottle down the last thing he needed was to have people clock him everytime he got on stage. This was a great memory for any real fans. 2 million albums was huge back then. They were on their way to the top. Don't be such a Kevin.
No hope he could hear himself clearly in that situation as TV stages are always shite but he is pitch perfect and kills it 👍 little did he know that’s the album that would put the nail in the coffin with cherry pie being the catalyst. My first concert was Warrant in London and Jani was the first front man i got to witness.
MIssing you Jani, loved seeing your smile. Warrant will never be Warrant without you. May you be singing with the angels now. God bless you and your family.
warrant actually had good albums after their big splash was over. these bands generally were more talented than grunge and alt. era bands with notable exceptions but nirvana to me was one of the least likeable and least talented bands of the era I didn't get it (& I'm from Aberdeen)or to be completely honest from just up the road.I watched a Styx concert from 2010 other night then nirvana at paramount theatre in Seattle. I'm not a Styx guy but they had such a nice stage and whole setup and all so professionally done then nirvana has old broken guitars and duct taped amps and 15 year old kids bouncing around on stage busting up shit and whatever.just unprofessional & unimpressive to me.I figure that's what the whole beef with guns n roses always was about. you gotta conduct yourself like a professional speak well be on time don't play with a hangover half the time or etc etc.
You named the wrong band, did you know that Warrant's guitarists were so bad that they didn't even record any guitar solos on the albums? If you look closely at the guitar solo the guy does here, it's nothing like the one on the album, definitely maybe only Jani had talent, but how lazy it is to listen to glam ballads 🤮 his specialty
I so wish that we had had the quality videos that we do today. It's almost impossible any interview footage or live concert footage that isn't an absolute mess. It's such a shame. With that said I don't need a clear video to picture that amazing smile and dreamy eyes. I still listen to all of his music on cassette and I love it that way. That's light imperfection in the background brings back all the memories.
I saw them on this tour... Several times and it was a fantastic tour! It was amazing, fun and all small venues. Jani and the band were super nice... I'm so happy I got to experience those shows.
Jani really painted a picture with his lyrics... Unlike the mid-80's bands like Ratt and the like.. No other songwriter from this era could match this. It was a narrative... It wasn't about chicks or about drug overdoses or selfish bullshit... Jani was good at telling stories... "Uncle Tom's Cabin", "April 2031". "Sometimes She Cries". "Heaven". There is always a beginning, a middle and an end with his songs...
What always amazes me is he sounds as good live is he does off of vinyl. So many of the hair bands from this time sounded absolutely awful when they sing live. I won't give any names but there was a couple of bands that I saw in concert and I was literally embarrassed. You could barely even tell they were the same frontmen that were in their videos.
I wish that too. But it seems the good times are over. Unfortunately! I saw them play once. They didn't tour Germany that often. They were awesome. Absolutely down to earth. RIP Jani. We miss you!!
These guys played a club I worked at in Cali and they were just about the best club band I had seen to that point. I was never sure if their act could stand up at the arena level but God bless them cause they made it.
How do you know when an artist has true talent? When they sound just as good live as in the recorded version. Ahhh the good old days of my youth when artists were actually real musicians not the lip synching demons you have dominating the music biz today. Kids today don't know what real music or Rock N roll is.
What a great band they were back in the day. Now, nobody gives two shits about them, and it's a shame. They always had great tunes and melodies, and Jani was such a talent as a frontman and songwriter. Now, Jani's dead because he couldn't get his personal demons under control, and scab Warrant went from stadiums back down to barely-filled clubs. How the mighty have fallen.
i seen them twice.once at the afterdeck in myrtle beach and once at the house of blues..i meet bobby brown back when she was hot..and jamie lane at the small venue the afterdeck..they walked through the front door just like eeryone else..then they rocked it hard!!
Great song and performers. I saw Lane in Vegas in the early 90's at the Las Vegas Hilton where I worked event security at the fights. Seemed like a nice enough cat.
I can't remember what doc I was watching but it was an interview with Jani and he was talking about in 1 years time, in the beginning of the year the record company totally promoted them, they went to the record company and there was Warrant posters all over the place, then Grunge hit, Jani came back to the same record company less than a year later and the record company had replaced the Warrant posters with either AIC or Soungarden/Nirvana posters and wanted nothing to do with Warrant/Jani.
@@dquinn8344 but similarly they did the same thing to glam rock too. The record companies signed every tom, dick and harry on the strip. Grunge was a fresh breath of air to the overkill of bands signed like Pretty Boy Floyd etc.al. I dig Warrant but it was time.
Yeah behind the secretary as you walked into the record company was a big picture of Cherry Pie and then eventually they knew it was all over when they went in and that picture was AIC Dirt.
It's nice to see bands from before the time when everyone has their teeth straightened and whitened and everything about them vetted and changed by producers for two years before they ever see a camera. As in, these guys are "real people", not a garbage curated act where you get the 76th best singer because that singer looks a certain way and will roll over every time some executive tells them to do something.
@The096757 this is true, a lot of the bands that came out in the middle to late 80s had serious talent, they were real bands, not like the garbage that is called music today
Hard to believe all those screaming girls in the audience are probably now 30-something soccer moms. My how time flies! Now with Jani Lane gone, it makes watching these old videos much more bittersweet. Rest in peace Jani.
Jani had a great voice...and wrote some really good songs. Too bad he couldn't lick his demon. I met him on the Bad Boys of Metal tour.....he was sauced....and he didn't end up finishing that tour.....they left him in Buffalo....my friend was on the tour, so I heard the stories.
The hard rock, hair metal, glam, heavy and others was puted out by the MTV corporations, and they don't bring some decent music. Because that many people keep listening this hard rock bands on their walkman, car stereos, and now we all keep alive this spirit through our IPods and remastered editions in some cases. @The096757 TRUE.... What a lot of fans of grunge didn't know was NIRVANA'S Album was double tracked to make the vocals sound better, and the producer of the album butch figg talks about how they had to raise the volume of the album to make it sound heavier than it was, that album was over produced crap
Haha! "Steve rides on no man" common guys don't be so sad. Jani finally found out where the down boys go. :) he had a fantastic life so let's celebrate that!
Rest in Peace Jani Lane. The music of Grunge was great, but so was Hair Metal...well, at least with Warrant with Jani Lane. Should have had both to make music scene richer and diverse. Same goes with R&B, classical, rap and even pop music. But at last, no way to change what happened. Keep safe all. Peace.
No one genre killed anything, I love Hair Metal but, they sold them selves out all the Hair Metal bands, they were all too mainstream and people needed something different, and then grunge went to the radio and exploded, if anybody killed Hair Metal it was themselves.
Amazing.. The world lost a real song writer and god given talent of a man .. Love him
Thank God for Jani Lane. One of the greatest songwriters of all time. The songs seemed to come to him so effortlessly. RIP brother.

And that ain't no lip singing like a lot of shows had artists do back then! Also best track on that album!

Jani was spot on! I remember watching this the night that it aired.
Very good song, fantastic group, fantastic singer, great look and dress. I really miss those times. Warrant original tapes are still on my shelf.
Jani's vocals here are untouchable! Even better than the record.. Thanks so much for uploading and sharing this primo clip
