Jani Lane when i think of the talent Jani had he was warrant he was their heart just so sad to see such a nice soul wasted R.I.P Jani you are in our hearts and memories for eternity.
@@flashy5150 old post, but yea saw Tim in 91 w Slaughter and Poison and Jani w Warrant in 98. We were standin in line when Jani walked by and went inside, I was like, I think that was Jani Lane, he had his hat pulled down real low.
Man, you can tell it's the black years. I mean not to rip on Warrant, I understand it was a difficult time image-wise, but this whole vibe about the band is just... Not them. From late 80's party metal to generic 90's hard rock about domestic violence and yadayadayada. I don't know what would've been the right move to keep their career, but my guess is that the 180 turn was too drastic. To me, their strongest record always was Dog Eat Dog. Perhaps they should've stuck with that.
Sounds like things changed after this interview. So sad miss you jani lane. Rip. Luved warrant forever. Grunge killed their music and its so sad. He was so intelligent he could have done alot with music today. Its so sad. What could have been if he only had help.😢😢💔
Ultraphobic is a very underrated record. The songs are probably "too heavy" but that was the sign of the times in 1994/1995. Favorites from the record are: Stronger Now, Crawlspace & High
really cool to hear where they were at this time period. bought ultraphobic the day it came out and tried to play it for a lot of my friends. they would love it, then find out who it was, and shit on it. always wanted to hear an in depth interview about the times from 1993-1995. outside of kottak and steier, was anyone else auditioned, or was it just them? i know they knew them from when kingdom come toured with then...
That’s what I don’t get? When the “glam” bands try to change with the times, they were looked down upon but when they stayed with what they did, they were dinosaurs... dammed if they did or if they didn’t.good rock n roll is good rock n roll and these guys did that over a span of multiple albums and different styles
@@charleswilson4526 i think if you look back at how rock has been since 91, the bands of this era had it the worst. they suffered a backlash...whereas grunge never did. the late 90's nu-metal didn't bash on grunge, but they did bash the 80's-early 90's. then the mid 2000's bands just ignored it. its very strange why this era get's no respect.
@@patrickreeves4650I truly believe the marketing department used the attitude to reach the you get generation and when it looked to be working they stuck the knif in deeper.
Labels went with what they thought was the next best thing but by the 2000s Grunge did not get as big as the '80s rock bands. The Labels could have sold more records if they did not kick all the '80s bands to the curb for 100% Grunge.
@dixierae6063 The new head of MTV in the early 1990s was against '80s rock & stopped playing '80s rock outside of Metallica. Even members of Slaughter, Warrant, Poison etc noticed lack of label support on their last albums after 1991.

And the late Tim Kelly, such and sokid nice dude he was 😪

Couldn't agree more. Truly missed.
Amen brother
RIP Jani and Tim.🤘😥🤘😥🤘😥🤘
Still so sad Jani Lane and Tim Kelly are both now deceased.
Yes, and I was in Vegas the night Tim was killed. One of the radio stations played Fly to the Angels all night the following night. I cried for days.
I was gonna say the same thing. Tim was a great guitar player. I saw both of them LIVE, it was cool.
@@flashy5150 You have no idea how lucky you were. Over here in Europe we could only dream of seeing them.

Great interview ❤❤
This really was a bit of a depressing time for music, I give them a lot of credit for being total pros. If it was me, honestly I'd be angry.
Up all night, sleep all day! That's right!
Sleep rock rock sleep all night and every day and rock rock till we drop.

Pre Ultraphobic era. 2/4 of these guys are gone. Sad.

The Most Innocent BEER drinking ever!! lol
This makes me sad. Jani was easily the best songwriter of the glam period besides Nikki
why are two guys sharing a beer?
