- The TechDif crew get repeatedly sidetracked from the Newgate Novel when a tangent about Prime Minister Gladstone's peccadillos turns into an all-out tribunal over condiment based toast. There is also tennis involved somehow.
Original Episode 1X02 "The Newgate Novel and Condiments on Toast": • The Newgate Novel and ... Приколы
"Will It Baguette?" is just a cherry on top. wonderfully done
Is just a picalilli on toast
I just realized the baguette machine is Gary eating directly from Matt's soft serve machine
@RyuakiraX I'm now thinking of an oven that works similarly. Use an auger to keep the dough the proper consistency, then push it into a baking area on demand.
Everything seemed to be going along fine, and then suddenly everybody's favorite Gary Brannan is fellating a baguette.
Highlights of this video and also my day:
- Chrisaturn Devouring his Sauce
- Substances Together
- French Chris having a mustache on his mustache
- the 50% France Wheel
I personally thought the 'Substances Together' gag was a bit weak, I'm glad you liked it!
@@CamstonIsland I also appreciate the visual gag of Gary's head continuing to be square from a side angle
@@robrobson8200 TechDif head shapes:
Gary: Square/cube
Matt: Circle
Tom: Rectangle
Chris: Oval
@@robrobson8200 Gary is Steve Minecraft
@@CamstonIsland I'm signing up for SubstancesTogether right now
I appreciate that the wheel is 50% France, as Gary said in The Battle of Fishguard episode. Very good attention to detail lol
Hopefully next time we'll get Chris's "piece of cardboard with an arrow that says France"
Edit: from the Charles Blondin ep
I just adore how clearly you used the footage of Gary extruding ice cream directly into his mouth as the basis for your animation of his baguette machine
“The wheel spins and lands on France!”
I hope to make great use of the wheel in the future...
It's not a wheel it's a cardboard arrow pointing at france
Now every time the bread goes stale, my husband says 'She is wasted'. That's my life now. Oh, and love the animation!
I'm stealing this.
i love how each characters design uses its own uniquely shaped head and colour. yellow square gary, red rectangle tom, blue circle matt, green oval chris
Geometry and classification is fun :D
I think this is the funniest one yet! Chris as Morpheus with the tomato/tartar sauce and later as the bobby was so good. And Gary's outrage at mustard on toast.
Edit: Special mention to Matt sheepishly admitting he'd had mustard on toast.
I don't know if you take requests (please don't take that as us taking these for granted, because we don't!), but the chocolate war in CN 1x08 would be brilliant if you ever felt like it. I think someone in the comments of that video is literally saying "someone should animate this".
That's probably the most requested one, and it is one that I have great respect for. I want to reserve tackling such an episode for later, as I've been considering using photoshopped images of candy instead of the drawings I've done thus far. A lot of experimentation needed to come with the best approach for such a legendary bit.
@@CamstonIsland Man, props for the dedication to your craft. These have me in stitches and I can't believe you're planning on more! Hats off!
THE PIXELATION AT THE END, that took me aback so hard XD
I was worried it would be too jarring with the rest of the video's style, but that just makes the effect hit even harder!
i love all the references! the "will it baguette", the "wheel of which country to offend and half of it is france"
I love the detail of the wheel of offense being 50% france, referring to one of the episodes :D
I paused to read the wheel...very happy that you correctly placed France on half of it!
The rest of the countries are in the order they appeared in the show (besides Bohemia, I guess)
@@CamstonIsland y'know, I thought so but I wasn't certain. I should have assumed as much...
The Chosen One has appeared! The only one who can take upon the mighty task of animating The Great Chocolate War from "The Flag of Mars"
Love how 5/11 of the wheel says France, with the other places also being ones that they have talked about on the show. Will it baguette? is also a great callback.
It's hilarious that York is on the Wheel of Nations. If that were an actual prop TechDif had, it would absolutely not surprise me to see York(shire) on there.
0:52 Chris expelling mustard from his face out of sheer surprise and horror is immensely funny to me
Thanks so much for animating that, you did a stellar job! I'm French and weirdly enough the "wheel spins and lands on France" bits are always among my faves haha
Je ne parle beaucoup pas francais, mais je.... comment dit-on 'try'?
@@CamstonIsland 'essayer' is 'to try' so it'd be "mais j'essaie !" 😊 Thank you, I love what you do!
There’s so much possible gold in that episode for animating top of my head “Tom goes to a flap for a pound a minute” would be great
When I first trimmed the audio before animating, I wanted to include that, but it would just be too long to animate in any decent time frame.
@@CamstonIsland"be too long to animate"
Oh aye...?
I am astounded by how well you've captured their facial expressions with just a few lines! And great job with the hands too!
Thanks! Rough gestural expressions juxtaposed with clean geometries and occasional more realistic forms is an amusing stylistic choice I'm having fun with.
@@CamstonIsland I love the head shapes too!
Matt: Circle
Gary: Square/cube
Tom: Rectangle
Chris: Oval
You’re bringing new joy to this series that I’ve watched so many times
I was not prepared to see Gary put mustard in his eyes. Great job.
I love how you depict the 4 members of techdif
This is such high quality, I wish they hadn't abandoned the comedy formats altogether and gone with adventures, it's such a shame.
What else is Tom supposed to do with his travel connections now that he's retired?
It's a way to highlight their personalities: Tom goes to Hell and gets disappointed at the lack of fire and brimstone, Matt flies a helicopter _not_ into the sunset whilst taking pottery lessons, Gary tries not to make cock jokes while making sausages on a railway locomotive, and Chris welds a bike together whilst in full drag. _THIS IS WHAT YOU CAME FOR!_
@@CamstonIsland Don't get me wrong I love their new stuff too. It's just sad that they don't do comedic content anymore, is all.
my lord are you fast! great stuff as usual, i hope your go for the Jack Churchill episode next!
once is a happening, two is a coincidence, three is a plot - if you're going to keep putting out more of these, I'm subscribing!
I like that line of reasoning
I love how half rhe wheel is France as Chris did mention
2:23 I would buy a "C'est pour manger et battre" poster.
"Forget the Toast" -Chris, who reads books
I've watched this on a daily basis since it showed up in my recommendations. The mustard flying from Gary's face, the wheel that's half France, the several editions of Chris, these are all fantastic visuals. But my absolute favourite, which I haven't seen mentioned yet, is bobby Chris holding the slice of toast between the pointer and middle fingers. *chef's kiss*
Both the sound and visual at 1:23 are golden.
techdif animated is amazing i am in love
We really need this for the audio episodes!
Absolutely!
"Substances together" got me
This is absolutely wonderful, bravo!!
My other idea for that scene was a baby mashing blocks together, but I couldn't make a convincing enough baby torso that didn't just look like a lardo-man.
@@CamstonIsland To be fair, Brown Sauce had been mentioned...
Lol thanks for putting an image to what Gary was saying at the end
I'll have you know baguette machines are a thing and it's just like a vending machine for baguettes
Yes, but is it a slot on a boulangerie that you wrap your mouth around?
I have to agree with Chris: mustard and black pepper on toast sounds great!
I guess the question with condiments on toast is do you let the mustard soak into the bread or treat it more like weird thin jam?
@@CamstonIsland that's why you put a bit of butter first; that soaks into the bread and the mustard sits on top like a jam.
@@ThomasWinget precisely, though I personally I am happy just with butter and condiments (the butter needs to be thin sliced enough to completely melt)
@@Hesiris So, the butter works like a layer keeping the condiments from sinking into the bread?
this got me laughing like an idiot the whole way through, thanks for doing these animations! Will It Baguette is the best part, love it!!
Glad you liked it! I was quite chuffed by how well that part came out myself.
my god, I had already forgotten that bit. laughed like an idiot all over again, amazing
I am in love these tech dif animations, and i don't the in and out of how you make these. But you start doing clip from the reverse trivia audio/radio.these are again amazing. Keep up the work.
2:49 "This is a baguette «Flashdance»"
"Toast the Kid" as the tartar sauce rustler. 😊😂
2:42 It's the wheel. And as stated elsewhere, half of it is french.
how have i never seen this?? all the visual gags are utterly on point
Youre literally killin me with these videos xD i had a complete laughin fit at the mustard in your bit and the followup to it
I had no idea animation cud so very much improve these jokes i alrdy love so much
These are amazing! I've always thought that Citation Needed and such would be amazing animated!
mayo toast, sweet chili toast, toast with honey... they're all good!
"WOT?" - The Archivist
This video makes me smile, I’m glad someone did this
Kitbashing food is the new thing
I just mash whatever together for breakfast or lunch. Ironically, I don't do that with toast as much!
Man this is my all time favorite bit that they've done too. Just Gary's sheer bewilderment of condiments on toast.
So many good Easter eggs here
I like how half the spaces on the wheel are france.
This is absolutely brilliant! I was following the TechDiff since the pandemic, so know them mostly by heart, but you raised this to the completely new level! I highly encourage you to do more of this animated marvels, the puns are well thought, the characters matched, absolutely love it! SUB!
Especially with the spinning wheel and the soft (bread) serve machine at the end it is just so obvious that you love them just as much as I do and I really like that. 🥰
This is absolutely brilliant, thank you for your contribution to humanity
French Chris just being regular Chris with a black moustache and the "will it baguette" machine made me genuinely cackle out loud
Subscribed. You literally cannot miss!
2:41: I appreciate the detail of literally half of the options just being France. Someone in an earlier episode pointed out you're definitely really into TechDiff (Lendrum to Leeks) and this literal 50% thing really drives that home.
Appreciate that still frame of Chris shoveling horseradish out of a jar in the middle of the night haha
These are wonderful. Please keep going.
This is amazing just like the last two - we are picking our group chat photo from screenshots from your latest video each time :)
ANOTHER ONE
2:42 the wheel of offence was hilarious, but I always thought it would have Lancashire on it haha
That would have been better than putting York on it, wouldn't it?
As a person from the red rose county, I am offended by their Yorkshire propaganda, although they never really riff on the topic, unless you count the TOTPAL about the by-election. Not much to say though as Lancashire is better!
Really excellent
And as we all know the wheel is 50% france
I'm going to get some good use out of this wheel asset I feel going forward...
2:42 the wheel spins aaand lands on France!
superb
Now I want to see someone invent a machine that just continuously cooks a tube of baguette so that it comes out as a tube of potentially infinite length so long as you refill it with dough consistently enough.
I just wanna say that as the "yop on a baguette" bit came up I was drinking water and you almost made me choke on it I was laughing so hard
Those animations are absolutely brilliant :)
God, I love these. I'm exactly the niche audience who needs these.
0:51 WOT
I've watched all of these so many times, but it's so wonderful to see them anew!
Thank you for these!
You're welcome! I was in the same boat as you, until I got off of it (no offence) and decided to make the funny images that they evoked in my head. And now they are here for me to impart unto thee!
2:38 with the fast movement, it's hard to appreciate how every other option on the wheel is france
This is so good!! I was thinking of rewatching citation needed and totpal but now i want more of these! A Julie D'Aubigny one too pleasee
Ooh, I forgot about that one. That was good. I'd have to decide whether to go for a more expressive Julie face like with the rest of the TechDif crew, have the TechDif crew 'dress in drag' to portray her (a statement that is markedly less expected as of a week ago), or do what I did with Gladstone and use a realistic portrait with funny limbs. It's not a strict rule, but I was thinking that if something is fictional the TechDif teller portrays it, while if its fact then it's an actual portrait.
@@CamstonIsland aha what a clever system! Can't miss this one for sure; instant subbed!
❤ substances together❤
this is so good! i love all the small references, like the wheel that lands on france most of the time
10/10 content
I need more of this. It’s incredible.
Haha I remember this episode xD What a wonderful animation to accompany this ridiculous argument xD
Reason #15 to not be a prostitute: "You could run into me again."
2:48 Will it baguette? XDD
This is absolutely brilliant! 😂😂
This is absolutely excellent, I think the only reference you might have missed is at 0:54, could have had a bit of mustard on Chris' head, as his nickname did used to be toast
I beg you, animate the giant lobster from citation needed 1x01
Very yes
"Will it baguette?"
Is that a reference to Matt's "Will it soft serve?" Videos?
Condiment lad has the right of it ; picalili on bread is a great way to get your 3+ serves of veg per day.
Simply amazing, bravo 👏
I'm not taking culinary advice from the british.
i love the René Magritte refrence at 2:23
Csx 8888 would be awesome
Love that you're going back to older videos, have you considered animating some of the podcasts? Keep up the good work!
Absolutely! Nothing's off the table, besides perhaps the newest adventures series.
@@CamstonIsland Great! I look forward to whatever you do next! I hope the Tech Diff guys see some of these
@@CamstonIsland That's totally fair, but I think it would be very called for to splice footage of relevant Adventures in here and there. For example, I'm sure you could get all kinds of mileage out of Gary's sausage adventure if you do decide to go back and animate Behind the Flap.
Man has no idea what he wants to do with his youtube channel
Glad to see I'm in good company, Mr. "Why did I make this" Channel-Bio-man
Is that Chris as Henricus the northern drunkard from Caesar era Rome?
Oui
1:33 is that like the Goya Painting? XD
As someone else commented, it's 'Chrisaturn Devouring His Sauce'
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSZ
this is to funny
Too funny? Geez, I need to dial it back then!
I love you, please marry me.
Delightful character designs for all of them.
YEEEESSSSS
