- Following a tangent about jacking a war-time Prime Minister (Part 1), the TechDif Crew simultaneously uncover and invent the Tale of Mad Jack Churchill, the nutter who went into World War Two with a Claymore.
Original Episode 6X01 "Jack Churchill and a Live Studio Audience": • Jack Churchill and a L...
Part 1: • [OLD] TechDif Animated... Приколы
I really like how the representation of him having relations with the entire female population of the nearest town is just the Salerno census from the following year being filled with names that clearly come from him.
Hey, you can't show the alternative presentation of that detail on this online video service!
If any CN episode deserved animation, it’s definitely this one.
Quite right
And acoustic kitten
The Chocolate Wars from "The Flag of Mars and Rods From God"
And Henricus
Seargant Reckless also deserves one
i'm still not over the fact jack ended up reappearing in lateral.
i wonder what other techdif characters will be recurring in the tom scott audiovisual universe
like all your others, it's a wonderful animation, congrats!
yeah there's surprisingly amount of recurring things that was brought up in both Lateral and Citation Needed, either being the questions themselves or anecdotes that Tom adds like Gary's stag doo, though that was a Bonus Material so people might have missed it. ruclips.net/video/69OfYdnPqaI/видео.htmlsi=5AiLtsy7zXJ9Ab6G
I hope Juan Pujol and Julie D'Aubigny make a come-back
@@nanardeurlambda Julie D'Aubigny just so Tom has to fail at pronouncing French names again.
@@MacPrince That's how you know it is actually mostly randomly selected!
The other day we got Australian Big Things!
Jack Churchill literally was just a guy who time travelled to WW2 from medieval times in terms of mentality and just went for it
From the jungles of Ceylon, hacking tigers and cobras whilst dreaming of knights and Scottish clansmen
It's the nutter that tried to fight WW1 with a claymore!
Finally he's here!! 🎉
no, not WW1, that was almost expected on some parts at the time.
WW2!
Fighting WW1 like it wasn't the first modern war is how it got so bad! The French Army was still dressed up in bright blue and red as they marched in file only to be gunned down by machine gun fire.
@@CamstonIsland Actually I think it's the other way around. making the war a fully industrial enterprise is what made it so awfull. four years of selling and using increasingly vicious weaponry
@@nanardeurlambdathey already had machine guns before WW1. There was at least one case of a junior officer beating a superior officer at war-games/training simulations because they understood the impact of the machine gun. Those officers who understood the future of warfare were of course then *immediately* ... told to stop commanding their troops like that and to follow restrictive guidelines so that the superior officers won the war-games and wouldn't look bad.
So the command gave orders as if war was being fought the old way, with riffles and massed fire being great, and the soldiers killed each other with machine guns and shells and poison gas, in the new and quickly advancing method of warfare.
It was a massacre on both sides, because they all had new industrial weapons of war, and still tried to fight the old way
I think even back in WW2, you did still have a few batmen for commanding officers, so this could be how he was carrying all those things.
2:19 ah yes, the mighty recoilless rifle, that has been explained many times in the programme...Love you so much for dropping these cameos all the time!
It's always fun to add in such things
2:01 It's the Wheel again. And half of it is France
It would be weird if it weren't half, would it?
I really really REALLY love that you used the Resident Evil 4 Attaché case to represent his inventory, that’s so funny.
I'd like you to know that every time one of these comes out, our group of friends decided which screengrab should be our new group chat photo
That is fantastic. I wonder which frame came from this one!
My bet's on Bazooka Chris
@@CamstonIsland I can confirm a previous one was Gary screaming "WHAT?!" and the mustard flying out of his eyes from the tartar sauce rustling episode
That's a good one, I cleaned it up and reused it i this- for if you wish your Garys to be mustardless
Man that "Gentleman's Gentleman" bit was definitely improved by you, damn that was funny.
I'm glad I added in the extra movement between frames so it seems more fluid, it somehow makes the contrast between calmly asking Chris Jeeves and slicing up a Nazi that much more stark
I lost it at the table top time machine. Utterly incredible.
I didn't even see that in the first round of watching! Thanks for pointing that out
I was hoping people would recognise it as that!
What a hero 🥲
Indubitably!
Inject these videos into my veins
You said that last time! Addicts, amirite?
THANK YOU for bringing up you're further with a gun
An original joke for once on my part, only slightly derivative from the source material!
The long awaited Ceylon Special!
Its been cey-long time
@@Trek001 Well, I didn't quite want to cey long time. I don't want to put extra stress on content creators by yelling and running into the comment section.
Eh, I could have gotten to it faster. I should have borrowed that Tabletop Time Machine at 2:41 @@simba4805
@@CamstonIsland I just feel like there is still sooo much left in just that episode that would work well drawn out like this. 😅 Like, there would probably be two more parts at least. Can we do anything to make your life easier so you have more time to do these? 🙈
2:01 "Tom, does the wheel spin and land, as it does 50% of the time, on France?"
Epic as always.
Not only the unique style, but massive knowledge of perspective, anatomy and mechanics of items used.
I hope that "chocolate wars" from s1e7 are brewing, because I'd like to see what your imagination can do with it.
Absolutely fabulous!
Thanks! I'm trained in architectural design, so I'd hope I could do basic freehand perspective!
Chocolate Wars are going to be a big challenge, especially since, given the materiality of chocolate and candy wrappers, I would like to use something more like photocollage mixed with this drawn style.
The original Chad
Chads aspire to be mini-Jacks Churchill
Yes! This is what we came for! Julie D'Aubigny next, please.
I'll certainly look into that one! TechDif Animated might be a bit Series 6 heavy though :\
I wish you had included "claymore the sword, not claymore the mine" confusion
Yes
Yes
This is so good please never stop making them 💖
I'll try not to!
Fantastic. I have dreamt of an animated version of that story since it was told, and it's finally here!
Most splendid!
love the wheel spin reference!!! :D
It go speen and land on the France part
I am still sad that they forgot the fact, that this man almost caused a war in the middle east...
Frankly I'm grateful they did, because that would have to be at least an extra two minutes of animation right there, and I don't intend on living long enough to finish it!
@@CamstonIsland Fair enough.
Animation can be a Royal Pain In the Arse.
MYSTERY BISCUITS!!!!!
This video is fantastic!
Love the brief cameo of the tabletop time machine
politely, MOARRRR!!
impolitely: uhhh, yeah‽
Nice use of an interrobang, Tom scott would be proud
This came out wayyyy better than expected! I am laughing my ass of (while i am glad that no one else is in the office )
THANK YOU!
Oh dear, do I need to list these as Not-Safe-For-Work?
If that's the case then I wouldn't have needed to use a clean census list for that one scene!
oh damn, I didn't even realize how recent these are!
Born too late to witness Mad Cap'n Tom...
Born too soon to witness Chris Joel star in the sure-to-be-released Jack Churchill film...
But born just in time to see this one person doodle all over pre-existing Tom Scott-adjacent content!
Jesus, why'd I only find this now? Absolute gold! :)
We've been robbed of an image of Stalin on a cherry picker
Please keep doing these, if at all possible. This made my mfing day.
"Great!" 👍
This was truly wonderful - thank you! 😁💖
Amazing, as always!
High praise indeed!
How have I not found this before? This is wonderful!
These are absolutely incredible, thank you so much for making them!
Thank you so much for these, I love your animations :)
Why thank you!
Lovely episode, Chris' tales all deserve the treatment. Still bummed out that Stalins cherry picket didn't make it
This is a masterpiece! You impress me every time 👏
Thanks!
Amazing. I love it soo much. I have seen this episode so many times and it made it somehow better.
That's my goal! If it weren't then it'd be arguably non-transformative, and I'd go the way of the Tom Scott subreddit!
Awesome work on this, love your artistic style and comedic timing ❤️
Thank you very much! This was a fun one to make!
"Nobody tried to shoot the back pipes?"
That man should have a movie made about him.
Your Animation has made one of the funniest segments funnies. I am not quite sure how you managed it but good on you.
I'm quite surprised too, the videos on themselves don't seem to be able to get funnier, and yet here we are apparently!
Previously, on Tech Diff Animated...
TECH DIF SOAP OPERA FORMAT!
He wasn't Scottish!
much to his disappointment I'm sure
But he was a supermarket
This is absolutely fantastic, but I was so disappointed that you, like the rest of the TechDiff crew, ignored Gary's Batman joke at 2:48! I really wanted to see Chris morph into the caped crusader for a fraction of a second before flinging the mask back off and returning to Jeeves form...
I’m not sure it’s ignored so much as nobody noticed, it took this comment to make me realise and I’ve seen both the animation and the full episode several times
Fun fact: The Germans also thought that Jack Churchill was related to Winston, so when he was captured in Yugoslavia, they flew him to Berlin for interrogation and put him in Sachsenhausen thinking that he was a politically useful bargaining chip.
I love how this is staged like a history teacher trying to help his students
Unfortunately Tom cannot escape the silliness of the rest of the TechDif Gang, even if he has his white collar on.
what a classic techdif scene, perfect for an animation! also side note I absolutely love how gary "paints a picture" of 1941 norway
I just found your channel and love all of these.
If you're looking for ideas on other bits, might I suggest Will's theories for Julie D'Aubigny's Convent Heist?
I love how Tom's chair tends to look like he's a beaver and that's his tail. 😅
That was not intentional.
No constructive and humourous criticism allowed.
You are only allowed to view my work in the way I intended it!
It's obviously a Platypus tail.
@@CamstonIsland I suspected it might not have been intentional. 🙈 As thou wishest, I will go ahead and unsee this immediately.
more. I want more animated techdif. For the love of God man, get in proper contact with Tom et al and do this for real
We all know what happened last time Tom found out about a fan community thing...
To be fair that subreddit was effectively close to doxxing him, but we need to keep this on the down-low!
Gary thought the Henricus one was funny though...
The best part is Winston Churchill is the exact same height as Stalin
i like this animation :)
(: This animation likes you?
@@CamstonIsland that's good lol
superior even to chris' own pantomime!
It is his, I just spat out what was in my head and made you look at it for nearly four minutes.
I just realized which version of "flipping the V" ... oh wait, when you say "flipping" then it's always this version, right? 😮
X games the apocalypse version
The Norway in a bagel joke went over my head. Is it because Norway is vaguely...sperm-shaped?
Years ago I made that picture, and I thought I'd include it. I don't even remember what the joke was. It's a non-sequitur, just ignore it and carry your bafflement to the next segment.
@@CamstonIsland [insert Monty Python old ladies applauding gag]
All I can think of now is one of Robin Williams' punchlines, "I'm going to glaze you like a Danish!"
I don't remember what episode it's from, but I cannot _wait_ to see you animate Gary as a bus driver shouting _"Only once is fine!"_
That, and Will Seaward's whole "Panthers?" bit. I think I could make that my text alert sound.
Only if you could randomise it into a kind of 'Panthers?' roulette.
*ding* *ding* *ding* *Panthers?*
And either Mystery Biscuit or other TechDiff sound effects. Get a lot of notifications and it’d sound like an episode of citation needed. (Ding, honk, panthers, OUT SCOTT, hit by a train, mystery biscuits. Hopefully in that order)
