It just usually not a woman (or ever? only one who comes to mind is arch enemy), but if you think about it womens heads on average arent that much smaller than mens (compared to like chest or hands) therefore the vocal tract besides the chords isnt that much smaller either.

Julia, I have been attending concerts for 5 decades and I saw Jinjer live at The Zoo in Brisbane on March 7th this year.
I rated the concert in the top 5 I have seen, they are that good.
Yes, Tatiana's vocals are outstanding, but she is just 1 of 4 equally talented musicians.
Her technique, (as you so well pointed out) allows for no vocal damage, as she is able to perform night after night with apparent ease.
She writes most, if not all the lyrics, and covers a myriad of topics and issues.
Another song to showcase her vocal strengths, (both growls and cleans) is 'I Speak Astronomy'.
Such was their demand on their short Australian tour that they added an extra show on March 8th, mere hours before they were scheduled to fly to South America for dates there.
Of course, Covid-19 really kicked in then and they went into isolation in Lks Angeles when air travel shut down.
Their journey to fame has been 10 years of hard slog and travelling in a cramped van.
I am glad their talent is now being fully realized and appreciated.
Another wonderful reaction and analysis, and new underwear heading your way in the mail...LOL !! 😂😂

You're absolutely precious, Julia. I mean that sincerely. I was frankly getting tired of watching reaction videos of the same, popular performances of various singers/bands, but I decided to say "screw it", and clicked on yours. I ended up watching about three of the them.
I appreciate the fact that you share your thoughts as captions every once in a while, as opposed to constantly stopping the video.
I also appreciate your honesty and integrity with letting people know that you aren't really familiar with a certain vocal technique, and your willingness to try to get input from a friend of yours as an option. That shows a lot of maturity and professionalism.
Lastly, you had me laughing my arse off when the first chorus hit. I didn't know whether to feel bad for you, laugh, or get you a sedative. Haha Your addition of the gorilla picture really did me in. Your sense of humor is perfect!

Sam Johnson, Chase Carneson and Julia are my favorites. Tank the tech is also interesting as he adds information about more technical things being a Roadie. These are my go tos for reaction. Love them all.

I can see I'm late to the party here, so my comment will probably be buried and go unnoticed, but I'll give it a go anyway just because I think this is possibly the best reaction video I've seen to this song, and I've seen a LOT of them.
I always enjoy watching reaction videos to this song, particularly vocal coaches. I, for one, would love it if you could get your friend to go into more detail about the techniques. Tara Simon talked about it a bit in her reaction video, but like you, it's not her area of expertise. Like many of the people in the comment section, it's a minor hobby of mine to watch reaction videos to this song, so I've seen dozens, if not hundreds, of reactions to it. I know I've seen at least one male vocal coach replicate the effect to some degree, but it would be interesting to hear a female do it.
One thing I particularly enjoyed about your video is the little segment you did on the time signatures. As a Rush fan, I'm always interested when I hear complicated time signatures, and this song has that in spades - going from the 7 (or 3+4) beat section you commented on, to a 3 beat transition into the 4 beat chorus. I've heard precious few reactors even mention this, and you're the first I've heard go into this much detail about it. Delightful!
Finally, your mention of the "second line" places you in a very small minority of reactors I've seen who've noticed or commented on that. I feel that it's even more noticeable in the growl sections, where it seems like the second line has probably been pitched lower. Another reason I'd love to hear your friend's reaction, to find out if she believes that to be the case. I came to suspect this after watching multiple live-in-concert videos of this song, and especially after watching this studio recording session: ruclips.net/video/U655IytKPnk/видео.html where the growl, though still impressive, doesn't have that almost supernatural, demonic quality.
Anyway, if you've actually read this far, thanks for your attention, and thanks for an excellent reaction video.

All are good options, but you have to take in account the type of person who is doing a reaction. First song for all reactors is always Pisces, no doubt about that. But then the path separates. For metalheads, the next song is Who Is Gonna Be The One (extra low growls, nice musicianship by entire band), for hip-hop fans it's Teacher,Teacher (and not only because of Tati's rapping at the beginning). For those who do not belong to either of those groups, the second song from Jinjer must be Perennial.
So in this case, I believe, the Perennial - Live at Wacken is the correct choice.

I think the music in this song is awesome in how both the time signatures, vocal techniques and lyrics are able to drive all of that home for sure.

I have been absolutely in love with this band and Tati’s voice since the end of 2013 and I am so thrilled that they finally are getting all the attention they deserve!! I also love watching “Jinjer virgins” hear her vocal talents for the first time...like melting reality forever and replacing it with her ability to impress everyone- fan of the genre or not.

    Next step:
Devin Townsend "Kingdom" on EMG TV
After that, check out Arch Enemy. Theyre known for having a woman vocalist do metal growls.

There are actually quite a few bands with female vocalists who do this...besides Jinjer, my favorite is Infected Rain.

I really appreciate you saying “This is not my expertise, but I’m looking for signs of tension or deterioration and I don’t see any”. It’s very thoughtful.
We would love to have your friend on for a reaction! I recommend Spiritbox - Rule of Nines (Courtney LaPlante one take)

As a speech pathologist I can kind of explain how she does it. Our "true" vocal folds are what we use to make sound possible for speaking and singing. Right above the true folds are the "false" vocal folds. She is keeping her true folds open and using her false cords to make the screaming sounds.

The official video is beautiful and there is some wonderful belting at the end too. Only a bit of belting. Tati wrote it as a call to the universe to find someone she was mentally and spiritually compatible with - mixed with metal growls, as one does. ;)

I prefer Ape from the Micro EP for time signatures and think that being newer showcases the tightness the band has achieved through years of touring.

Great reaction!! You should listen to Perennial live a Wakken by Jinjer. Great example of her going between growls and clean vocals. Shows she is doing it a very healthy way.

I'm a guitarist, but I've never had the ability to figure out a time signature like that. I've played over many, but have always just sort of 'felt' it, rather than count it out. It's amazing how instantly it clicked with me when you counted out the 3/4 into 4/4. Well done, haha. Great video as well. It'd be awesome to get your friend on who knows more about the extreme vocal techniques :)

Well if you get out of the box, and don't count every measure by it self, you'll see that all the measures add up to make one long, listen to the screaming part, there is no beat. Actually it's a quiet interesting drumming made for the music to fill in more than coming out as a beat
