I have to admit, when Paul and Matt hopped into the Nugget for that test drive together, I had a tear in my eye. My hats off to you guys, and everyone that had a hand in putting this machine together. Cannot wait to see Eds face when he sees it.
Wow! I was sick when the rear end seized up. I have no idea how you kept a straight face as well as you did. There is no way that Ed can totally understand how much went into this rebuild/restoration. Its too bad you can't put a seg-way movie clip before you release it to Ed. Congratulations guys! A total 10 out of 10 points-job!

The Golden Nugget project has done so much more than people realize. I have been watching Matt's channel since the second month after creation. In all that time, I had caught one or two videos from The Fab Rats, but not much else. I didn't even subscribe back then. Then came the Golden Nugget retrieval. I found myself subscribing to Fab Rats and spending hours watching past videos and learning a lot of things along the way. Next, I found myself subscribing and soaking up everything on Robbie's channel and the same for Tow Mater. I added all to my favorites. All of you are absolutely great people. Watching your work, learning a bit along the way and enjoying the scenery from the area. If you ever find yourselves on a trip to Alaska, send a message. My door is open.

The Nugget has truly been a labor of love. My hats off to the whole team that made it possible. I'd like to see a good photo of the underside of the hood when all involved have left their mark.

I can see the checkered flag approaching for Nugget reveal day! Great job to all involved. You all have dedicated so much time to make this beyond anything Ed could ever imagine.
Kind of think a lot of us out here are very emotional about the Golden Nugget... Watched from the very beginning... The trek into the forest, the dragging it out (thanks Matt and crew). The busting down, all the fabricating all the sand blasting, all the body work, then the priming, priming and more priming, all the layers of panting (thanks Robby and crew). Then more fabricating more parts fitting welding (thanks Paul and crew), more dent removing, more painting, hundreds and hundreds and more hundreds of man hours. THEN the big blitz at the end during the test firing, I panicked when it locked up, but Paul you saved me a heartache. Just one more thing, wouldn't have missed any of it... we are all hooked on the three channels. , and now I just need to know if some of us are invited to the unveiling...? No we haven't forgot the trailer and Ed's bike for even more hours...
I too got a tear in eye & lump in throat seeing Matt & Paul together in the test drive. Ed I'm sure is going to be overwhelmed. The whole team behind this project did an awesome job.
They way the content has been produced, makes me feel like I was a part of this build. From when you pulled it out of the woods, to its completion! I've thoroughly enjoyed it all!
Man, what a ride this has been. From floating Ed's library out into the river and sinking the nugget to this... It's going to be an emotional day when Ed gets the nugget for him and a lot of folks. This is a good thing. Thank you Fabrats and all involved.
The look on Paul's face when he and Matt were in it was priceless. There was a little apprehension and a lot of pride in what he had part in. As it should have been. I'll be looking forward to the next build.

Golden Nugget has been such a big part of our last eight months, it's kind of sad to see it go. Ed is going to love it. Thanks for sharing such a great project with us all. Thanks to Matt for introducing us to your channel and the great people that came with it. Looking forward to seeing Ed receive this new Nugget and bike.

It’s amazing how far this thing has come. I only found Matt’s, Paul’s and Robbie’s channels after Jalopnik did a story about a Suzuki that had been pulled out of the Sierras after 40+ years. So glad I did. 😁
I can understand Paul's reaction when Matt left with the Nugget. It's like when your youngest child moves out of the house. You're kind of sad to see 'em go, but happy for them at the same time.
When this project is completely done, it would be interesting for the team to do a full accounting of parts and labor. Your fans would definitely like to know that.

Respectfully for US non Mechanical followers: @Fab Rats please break it down in plain simple English. Sirs Why was sand plasted in the axle ? Idk about this part of the car . Over 45 yrs ago in High LHS in 1976 I took Auto Theory class Another gal and I. Only girls. She was a smoker and knew autos everyone in class knew auto mechanics except me. It was their easy 'A' so I know the basics from rebuilding My Bonus Dad's automatic lawnmower engine in class. One of the reasons I like to watch y'all. Daddy Jay and I went down some weekends to Bunce Auto at Papa Bunce and Grandma's home we put a used engine w Auto transmission attached in our Toyota Corona Mark IV that had blown a hole in the block. (called something else but I forgot) it was going to be my car. We had some special times working on that motor of which I knew nothing. We did the rebuilding transfer at my Papa's Garage. But I barely did anything for Papa Bunce and Daddy Jay did the work. Sigh Boy I wish I would have gotten more involved back then. (I did work on it but Dad Jay and Papa didn't teach as they got it done. ) At least I have that memory. Someday in Heaven when we meet up with them again. I can say a better Thank You. Sigh Dad Graduated 1/1999 and Papa was /12/1989. Regardless I barely recall anything of that cold garage except for Papa and Dad working under a light attached to the roof of Papa's Garage. Thank GOD for YOU and your Team @Matt's Off-road Recovery @Robby Layton's Team and ALL the real deal mechanics. Hats off to you All.
@@his4evr2c Robby Layton disassembled the front and rear axles and taped over the openings so they could be sandblasted prior to painting. During sandblasting, the tape was either removed, blown off, or perforated and sand got through the openings and likely stuck to the residual gear oil that was left inside the axles. The oil in the front and rear axles is very thick and trapped the sand so it couldnt be blown out. Robby reassembled the axles without knowing there was sand in the axles. When Paul took the nugget out for a test ride, the gear oil warmed up enough to start circulating the sand, some of which made it into the pinion bearing. The sand ground up the pinion (input) bearing until it fell apart and jammed the rear differential.

Thanks for taking us along on the Golden Nugget ride. We enjoyed every second of the teardown, fabrication and rebuild after paint and the test drives. Fabrats have done GOOD. Now for the reveille.
I have really enjoyed the whole adventure with the Nugget. Always nice to see a project finished. A lot of hard work by a good group of people. Thanks for sharing.
You guys are amazing, you all did a fantastic job on the Golden Nugget! All the people who worked on it, Robby and his crew who did an amazing pristine "showroom" restauration job, the guy who did the wiring, all the fans sending parts to help complete the project. Everybody involved! All the work put in Ed's Golden Nugget is so heartwarming! Can't wait to see the reveal !!
The Nugget looks and sounds awesome. Every one involved did such a great job. Can't wait to see whats going on next!
Matt's smile was priceless! And the last minute recovery from the sandblast media was very well done. You guys are the best!
Great to see it ready for Ed. Amazing the hours that have been put into this to make it right.
The golden nugget looks and Drives awesome, can't wait to see Ed's reaction , going to miss that build, keep doing what you guys do and God bless you and your family
Truly exceptional, when you know what shape it was in when you pulled it out of the woods. Great team effort and everyone involved should be proud of the end result, just awsome 👍
except the only original thing is the frame.
Paul, loved watching the Golden Nugget build. You are a patient, tenacious guy.
Oh my goodness. It is so bittersweet. I actually teared up when the nugget drove onto the trailer to go back to its rightful place with Ed. Can't wait too see what you guys are up to next! Excellent job you guys. Amazing.
So good to see the Nugget going to Ed, looking forward to seeing the unveiling and the signing of the hood for everybody that was involved in the restoration.
Yup, I'm smiling with tears too. Well done Paul, you should be very proud.
How sweet it is! Have to say I got a bit teary eyed when the Golden Nugget got trailered up. Kudos to all involved in the build. Now, can hardly wait for the grand reveal to Ed.
Once again Randall utters the wisest words in the video. Don't. Wreck. The. Nugget.
An awesome job on what had to be a frustrating day.
Great work Paul and team! So glad you found out about the axles before giving it over to Matt.
Love yer bro, its like he was always on the channel. Great addition.
Ben's the best 👌 I hope he stays for a long time
To everyone involved in this build your videos were awesome from the recovery to leaving the Fab Rats Shop. Thanks Matt, Paul, Robbie and everyone else involved. Keep up the great videos.
So awesome that people from all over are sending parts to get the project sorted.
