How about setting up a QR code so people can send money in to help ROSIE get some good vet care and maybe surgery, yes we know rosie is not your dog, but how about it, some people like myself like dogs more than people.
It was nice seeing someone securing the car properly on the trailer
Location. The 327 Chevy engine is stamped on a machined pad on the front passenger side cylinder head usually behind the alternator.
If you guys seen the show “My Name Is Earl” this instantly brought me back to that lol
I haven’t seen that show in years. Your comment sent me down the Wikipedia rabbit-hole for half an hour lol
@@thomasmatejka7367 I mean it’s not exact, but hey close enough😂
I always thought that they must have bought a nice-ish Elco and trashed it up for the show. Random door swap, abuse the paint, instant beater.
Made even better because the brother in the shows name is Randy.
@@adamblue7441,
if it has a thin balancer and is pressed on with no bolt its a 327 probably ,the heads with no holes are pre 68
It is pressed on with no bolt
Has to be a 327
That is the center hub of a balancer that is missing the outer ring.
It's worth the cast of the valve cover gasket to find the casting number on the heads. Your looking for a "Camel Hump" mark on the frort and a casting number of 3782461 or 3782461X as factory "go fast" parts. But, it's all here. www.mortec.com/castnum.htm Not my website, just trying to help. Also, the money in the 327s parts means do not just trash that engine! Sell that stuff on ebay.
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds Better double check to see if the bolt is just missing.
Randy has a junker hooptie problem, works for me, carry on.
@Albert Long a bunch've hookers and cocaine
That EC has so much potential. The front clip is great. Body lines are straight. Get a rear bumper and lights. Windshield. Window gasket kit. Full tune up with fluids and plugs. New fuel filter. Relocate E brake. New flow master exhaust and mufflers. New gas tank. Rust repair. New posi trans. Shocks. Door cards. Rotors and brakes. Paint/clear coat. 5k, and she’s sorted nice.
Welcome back to Chevy El Camino Rebuilds ...love it can't wait to see what comes of the new channel
Love those El Camino’s! My grandfather used to have one, and we had so much fun riding it! That El Camino is the reason I’m a mechanic now, my grandfather taught me a lot on fixing it! I miss him.
And that's why I love your channel Randy Raw and Uncut with no BS you always keep it real that's no lie💯👍
Rear brake lock - probably one of the brake shoe anchor pins broken causing brakes to shift in drum & jam.
Headlights - probably a short in the wiring for the headlights causing the breaker to trip and then it resets again
The ‘74 maybe the one to put the most effort into. I would think it’s body style would be more valuable than the other two. Also, if it’s a 327 then that’s just awesome. There’s a lot of love out there for those engines.
I’m loving the videos with Santa’s workshop. Much better vibe to watch then tk.
The e brake cable should be above the trans cross member, the motor might be a 400 or 283 or 307, there is a casting # behind the left head on block
You're right about the brake cable should be above the transmission crossmember from what I can see it it's either 283 or 327 it definitely is not a 400. The 400 small block has 3 freeze plugs on each side and the balancer is like a normal balancer except half of it is machined out because it's externally balanced since it doesn't have a bouncer it has to be a 283 or 327 or bolts in the front of the heads for accessories as long as heads are original to that motor and the casting number on the back of the motor on a driver side should tell you what it is
they actually made a large journal and a small journal 327, 010 on the block usually was large journal 327 or 350 which means it has a 4 inch bore
Large journal had the cast crank with the larger balancer and crank bolt, his would be a small journal 327 or a 283
My Wife purchased a new Olds Omega in 75. Around 45,000 miles the water pump went out. After a trip to NAPA we figured out it was not an Olds 350. Turns out it was a Pontiac 350. What I was told at the time of assembly they put in what was available.
Thank you for the smiles Roxy.
Morning from Canada 🇨🇦
Great videos!
Hi Randy. Thank you for everything you do for us.
My name is earl. Needs a blue door 😆😆
I was thinking the same thing and his name is Randy what a perfect match
Alright. The work the prior owner put into this, convinced me the '73 nose was added on later. And they did a top quality job.
It's a no brainer swap un bolt the grill and headlight housings and swap 73-75 no issues 76-77 have stacked square headlights and each model yr between 73-75 have different but interchangeable grilles even a LAGUNA S3 nose cone is a simple bolt in swap
I've owned many cars gm a bodys and never had a fit and finish especially the nose. Its a trained monkey swap. Hell my 9 yr old son can do it and it would look good. A screw driver and basic set of hand tools is all it takes. You talk like it's some great feat of body work to swap a grille and shell and in this case the 1 yr only headlight buckets.
@@dragonslair59 Actually I was only complimenting the prior owners ability.
Most people don't own simple hand tools. And lots of the people that do, find tasks like this to be beyond their confidence in their abilities. You and I know the process is simple. And can be done much easier by removing the entire front clip of a '73 elky and bolting it on, (which is likely the case here) than replacing the front facia.
I do hope you find some ointment for that sore tooth, have a great day!
@@dragonslair59 I think a Laguna would be awesome, Like Choo-Choo.
@@davidgray5180 I've seen guys do that to el caminos and wagons too
I love the El Camino’s 🔥🔥
Good morning Randy and Mike. Looks awesome.
Very nice!! Don't be down on it! You did great!!
Santa and Randy is the best combo!
Wow I wish I had that car, I had a 73 that was soo much fun to drive never left me stranded. That is a 73 front end.
Michael is right truck has lots of potential would make good project to work with Michael to bring back to neat street or cruiser.good luck
Randy: it’s good to see you working out of your shop again!
I agree with you. Clean it up. Tidy it up mechanically and sell it.
Cheers
Man Randy you really know how to source these things man!!!Daaang...I LOVE IT MAN!!!..cant wait to see the final one...
Awesome video! Can't wait to see Santa's Workshop solution to the infamous sagging doors. Awesome Content Randy 👍👍
Man 3 El Caminos that's cool. Would like one myself.
When you say "It could be a fuse", the fuse had to blow for a reason, so it is not as easy as replacing a fuse. You have to find the underlying reason why it blew.
The shoddy wiring could very well be the reason
@@TheBigKuz As it turns out it is a defective high beam switch. I can't count how many cars I have had that had the same problem.
Man that Brown el camino is gonna blow up holly crap
You did great, Santa worked his Christmas magic.
Great stuff 👍, cannot wait for the next instalment 👍, good work on the 3rd car
You can’t go wrong with an El Camino for that price especially with the high desired 327. Good buy!
I agree tons of work clean up and paint needed but a over all good buy money pit.
Thanks for another good video good to see Roxie a friend of mine put a 327 in a 78 El Camino fast ride 35 years ago
Turn the two mixture screws on the front of the carb until lightly seated then back out 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 turns to get the mixture close to where they need to be.
Love the wheels like to see you get them polished.
El camino's are awesome!! Rescue as many as you can Randy..because you are just as awesome!!
It is a '73 front clip; the '74 had a Mercedes-style grille. My brother's first car was a '74 Malibu Classic.
Great video and car guys😎👍
Can't wait for part 2, made a awsome El Camino off 3😀
The rattling noise is sticking valves from bad gas
Awesome video man, great content overall haha. Love when Santa joins you, I'm missing Mike tho lol. TK not so much lol.
I hated that noise when the speedo cable is not lubed, or warn out.
Crazy what a carb and some tinkering will do, can’t wait to see what’s next for the 74!
It definitely has a 73 front end on it along with 73 door panels. Looks like a solid project, 80% of the ones I find have no floors or quarter panels left on em
Nice to see Santa with you again Randy...
After we watched this video my wife said.."That car has been bubbafied"!! As for me I hereby anoint you "King of the Hoopties"! Your cars are real Hoopties!! We enjoy your videos Randy!! Keep posting!!
Try to look for the casting number at the rear of the block (top driver side near bellhousing) it's probably an old 283 or small jurnal 327, they have pressed fit balancers with no crank bolt, they also have forged cranks which is pretty cool
327 motors stoped in 1968 ! 307 took it's place but my 75 came with a inline 6 !
I really want the other two.
This one is yard art.
The Fleet of the Month is gonna be El Camino's great finds
I googled '73 and '74 El Camino and from those pictures, I believe the grille (and perhaps the whole front clip) is from a '73. The '74 grille was taller and did not have as much of a header panel across the top of it.
Great video Randy!
Thanks for sharing this with us take care
Mike is awesome please continue working with him good people
I’m starting to think you have too many El Camino‘s lol 😂
3 too many!
@@joeg.1119 lol
I love it - very cool. Looks just like the car in tv show "My name is Earl" which was red with a blue door
Hey Randy!! Have a great weekend!! 🤘👌👍
I had a 74 and it came new with a 350 and a thd350 trans. you can get the head info by removing a valve cover, the numbers are casted into the heads there on old small block stuff.
There should be a pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head behind the alternator with the identification numbers stamped into it.
I love how Santa already has a bunch of little tricks in mind for the fix up!
My daily drive since 2017 is 1974 El Camino, blue and white, love it.
Your Camino are 1973, no doubt.
people use to take the small journal 327 block and put 283 crank in them and make a 302 short stroker out of them
Awesome score those cars are cool. Watching this video while uploading a short video to my channel. I always appreciate your content. Keep the video coming.
Hey Randy, tell Nick the squeaking from the door was a factory option. They all did that.
Randy you need to get some Original Rally's with the Center cap and BEAUTY rings. It will make a World of difference and will sell very well. Us viewers would love it👍👍
If you replace the fuel tank make sure the tank fittings are the same as what the book calls for. On my 72 Buick, GM installed a Pontiac fuel tank from the factory (getting rid of excess inventory I was told) which has different fittings from the new one I ordered.
Nick is a great kid. Awesome learner.
Hi Randy nice ride you bought
Maybe itd be fun to buy a facebook marketplace or craigslist car once in a while to mix things up a bit ???
The '74 Chevelle/El C. front bumper is less bulky and the grille looks like a 70's M-B. My uncle had a '74 Chevelle Malibu. Looks like someone started working on it adding good condition '73 bumper, grille, etc.
randy youve definitely never seen real rust if your having a panic attack over a couple spots this cars not that bad just needs you to give it some love
The first year for 350's was 1969 all of which had accessory holes in the head. It also appears that it is a small journal crankshaft so it is pre 1968 engine. That leaves you with the choices of 265, 283, 327. There will be a casting number behind the drivers side cylinder head.
it's definitely not a 283 or a 307 that's for sure.
I'm loving that El Camino, Randy! I know you are loving your pull me over red vehicles as well 😉! She's a fit for you!
Best first drive ever, haha. All I can say is you got it back from the dead.
Looks like a fun project! Yea I subbed ya!
I love the way the blue ones sound and thank you for put me in Santa’s work shop need to take the motor from the blue one and put it in one of the other two elco if I could afford to buy one of them I would
They need to start making El Camino's again!
Randy has definitely come a long way working on these older cars. Definitely seems to be a lot quicker diagnosing and fixing issues.
Rear brake is frozen, but hey let's go for a drive.
27:30 It even has the ball chiller/warmer! Nice! Lol
Randy got alot of el camino content going on there😁
It’s not to bad honestly u got this
Sweet ride
That's a mid 60's 327 out of a Corvette, I used to have that exact same engine and that whole pully assembly is the balancer that's a press on from the factory
Im a 5th gen person but the 4th gen is starting to come around for me. I used to think they were really ugly, but the more I see them on the net the more I start to like them.
all three motor will fit either car
The transmission is also missing the cover for the flex plate
Your the man for thes old clasic cae do your magic
The newest El Camino might have solid valve lifters. The valve covers can be opened on top to adjust the valves and check while running.
The El Camino is officially the new Crossfire for Randy, and I am here for it.
Haven't finished the video yet but I reallllllly hope you just decide to swap all the good from the Blue elco in to the new 74.
Also... 70/71 front end swap should happen on the new one.... and then you should keep it.
70-71 front end won't fit, was a different generation than the '73-'77.
Hey Randy, no worries about your new ElCamino. From what I can see, I think you have an authentic 327 engine. Patch up the rust and take her to Macco for some Pull Me Over Red and she'll be as good as new. With the parts from the blue one you'll have her ready in no time. Keep the rims on the red. A little polishing and new tires and the rims will look great. Welcome to Randy's ElCamino Workshop. And you got free ants. Keep them and sell them as starter kits for Ant Farms.
Factory engine options for the 4th generation El Camino were a 250cid Straight Six and V8s sized 307, 350, 400 & 454 cubic inches.
I've been looking for a deal this good since I was 8.
I haven't looked at any other comments so I don't know if I'm repeating someone elses comments or not, On the 74 Elcamino to get the headlamps to work I would keep clicking the dimmer switch to free it up and clean the contacts, I would also drop the gas tank again to see if there is a ground strap from the sending unit to the floor pan, The gauge won't work without it. Before I would write the transmission off I would change the filter and fluid and see if that clears it up for you. If it doesn't I think the T 200 and T 350 are direct replacement for each other. On your 80's Elcamino I would take the windshield out of the blue one and check the opening to see if it's solid, If it is drill the spot welds out to release the outer sheet metal from the inner roof structure then cut about a 4 inch wide strip of the outer sheet metal and weld it into the roof of the other one to repair the opening.
I actually have a 79 elco 305 factory 4 speed stick only 1600 made in 79 Option I love it ,actually has same rims as red on it
I have those same exact wheels and centercaps on my 1970 ford ranger!💗
