- Review of the 2023 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14. This is a powerful small laptop that has a lot going for it! It's packed with the AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS and a RTX 4090 GPU. It's an improvement from last years model but it has a small problem. Hope you enjoy the review and if you did please feel free to like and subscribe = )

I love that we are now using a NVIDIA GPU again just make sure to use Performance mode instead of Turbo. Also, ASUS has informed me they are working on the Turbo issue and should have a fix sometime soon. I'll be sure to update you once it goes live and I test it for myself. Are you picking up a G14 this year? Also, if you liked the video feel free to like and subscribe!
Already snagged the 4070 model. Getting 12000 TimeSpy in G-Helpers Tubro mode (CPU package limited to 50W). Great all around laptop for the money!
I am still rocking the first gen G14 and the performance is still chilling, only the battery life wasn’t as long as I first bought it.
getting the 4070 version. 4090 is just way too much $.
@@ryen7512 If they have a 4080 model, I'd get that. The 4070 isn't much better than a 3070, and in some cases, worse than a full powered 3070 Ti.
Either go 4080/4090 or save up.
I wish ASUS kept amd cpus in the Zephyrus g16
The price hike for this years models are crazy , the basic rtx 4060 variant costs more than a rtx 3070 variant with specs maxed out which is about 2300 usd in India atleast
@MatthewMoniz: Top notch review. I bought the 2022 high end g14 and the thermal issues are due to Armoury crate. Replacing that with G-helper fixed most of the issues.
The only exception was that the microphone toggle key became a bit finicky . All other functionality was perfect and performance improved significantly. Dont have the raw numbers with me but it also improved cinebench and furmark scores with better overall temps during normal loads.
Thanks for this comment, I didn't know about G-helper until I saw your comment. Every Asus laptop owner should know about it. I have a love and hate relationship with armory crate and now thanks to you I'll just be loving G-Helper
Is the laptop feels too hot?
is there any video how to replace g-helper ?
Great review as always! I'd love to see reviews on the 4060 and 4070 units sold at US Best Buy. I'm sure Asus only sent the top 4090 configs to reviewers though :-( I really wish they'd send out the versions most people will be able to buy.
Thanks Craig! I agree I would of loved to test out the 4070 option
@@MatthewMoniz US BB is showing the 4060 available now, and the 4070 shows "add to cart" but then "not available for shipping" and "not available for pickup" so I guess it's Schrodinger's laptop? LOL
@@shirokuro73 I just bought the 4070 version online from BB a few days ago and they say I'll be able to pick it up in store on May 6.
@@ryen7512 Thanks for letting me know! Did it say the same things as I saw before you bought it? ie not available for shipping/not available in my area ? Or did it show May 6 before you clicked purchase?
@@shirokuro73 If its available it will say "pickup in store" or "get it by xxx date". They seem to be sold out of the first wave or two but I'm sure they will get more if you keep checking back. The 4060 version appears to be in stock atm.
Very happy that they brought back the Nvidia GPU. A lot of people hate on Nvidia, but their CUDA architecture is second to none when it comes to running engineering software.
So true. And also 3D rendering with CUDA is amazing.
hating on nvidia just gets you likes and clicks lol
Exactly.
@@codeslacker77as first year engineering student and someone with interest in 3d rendering this comment chain quite honestly solidified my decision so stick with nvidia gpus for now
Literally the only thing stopping me from getting a G14 (2022) is that AMD graphics card, I use blender a ton and the support isn’t really there yet. Likely gonna be getting the 2021 model instead since Nvidia and blender work incredible together, especially for rendering out ray traced scenes
Good stuff, been wait for a review of this one!
One think I did find out based on Asus's website only the G14's with the 4090 gets the mini-led display, the 4080 model and lower only get an IPS panel
yup thats how they do it. a 4080 and mini led would be perfect/ better price but of course money grabbin. The 4090 in here is maybe 5-10% better than the 4080 version
I keep my 2022 G14 on Turbo all the time, unless I'm on battery. I use the IETS GT500 laptop cooler, which drops my temps by 15-20°C. Turbo mode only grants me like an extra ~5fps in games (versus performance mode) so it's definitely not worth the extra wattage and heat... But if the laptop is being cooled sufficiently, why not?
Is it worth it to buy the 2022 model over the 2023 still or should one wait until the 2023 goes down in price point?
@@danielkik1245 sorry bud I didn't see your comment. It's probably pointless for me to answer now, but given we have more information about the 2023 models now... The 2023 models are nice, but the 2022 models offer such insane value when on sale. The 4050, 4060 and 4070 models are not much of an improvement, but the 4080 and 4090 models are.
@@alexchng Thanks, man!

@@aribuwu I bought a Lenovo Legion Slim 7 (7840HS, 4060, 16") instead. Couldn't find a trustworthy supplier for G14s in my region.
I'm really excited for 7040U/7045U series laptops, i just want a great CPU with occasional gaming and a really great battery life. Please AMD launch this thing soon and make it available.
The 2022 version is the best laptop I’ve ever owned, glad to see the 2023 G14 is still a beast!
Do you own the Ryzen 7 or 9 , I want to get a Ryzen 7 can it play games smoothly
@@felixmeheux9973 I have the Ryzen 9, which is honestly overkill for this laptop. I'm sure the Ryzen 7 will be just as good for games.
My AMD advantage G14 from last year still feels like a better bargain with that amazing battery life!
Did you get 6700s or 6800s?
Long awaited video as usual I enjoyed a lot thank you for the video I say it's worth the wait ❤️✌🏻
Thanks Mohammed!!
Use the manual mode to choose how much watts and for the fan speeds at certain temperatures.
Man, this is crazy, I am curious to see how the Blade 14 2023 will perform (if it releases). Hopefully, if the redesign is 16:10 and they make it a bit thicker like the 16/18 versions. Maybe it could be more consistent than this. The common trend with thin 14/15in devices is to go with the xx70 models still stands. Although with how efficiently Nvidia made them, I wonder if the 4080 could be the new sweet spot. I wish we could've heard how loud turbo mode was, wonder if it's comparable to the PS4's Jet Engine.
4080 won’t be as budget-efficient as 4070 since RB14 only supports GPU power up to 100W, 4070 is 35-115W, while the 4080 is 60-175W…This time 4070 RB14 can easily reach 3070Ti(full power) performance.
@@crearg8259 I understand that, but if they redesign like the Blade 16/18 where it's 16:10 and a bit thicker. It may be able to stretch its legs a bit more. Wishful thinking. I'm guessing we'll get a reveal this month or the next. I doubt the 4080 will be a good deal in a 14in but for the 15-16in. the 4070 is the sweet spot for 14in due to its high efficiency.
@@LAFadhel lol, I just wish this time they can bring the Mercury version earlier and at least allow 4070 version to have 32GB memory. It would be super cool to pretend it to be an office “cat-like” silent laptop while it’s actually a “leopard-like” laptop that can roar (32GB is necessary for my multi-tasking)
I hope they rectify that this year. I’m still holding out for an AMD 16in. If they release that, I’d easily pay $3-$4k. Id work extremely hard for it, but on the other hand. Framework 16 is looking mighty appealing 👀👀.
the 12gb of VRAM in the 4080 makes it quite appealing comparing to lower options for future AAA games
Man ..i moved from zephyrus to vivobook for budget 4k oled screen...but i do miss my zephyrus a lot... It was awesome.
A review of the m16 with the 4070 now would be the icing on the cake
Was looking forward to this review. Thanks!
I’m sure many windows gamers are happy about the Nvidia graphics for the 2023 model. But I love that they did an all amd g14 for 2022. Thing has been a champ for my gentoo linux install. All amd really just works so much better for Linux and especially for me since I like to use the wayland graphics suite instead of x11. Loving it and hoping they do another all amd run in a few years when I’m looking to upgrade as this laptop really has amazing battery life, performance, display, and portability.
Did you face any issues with respect to wifi or bt when installing Linux? I am thinking of getting the all amd version.
@@sidharthjha6916 I don’t have Bluetooth set up because I haven’t had need to use it yet. But Wi-Fi works flawlessly, the Linux drivers are better than the windows drivers for the Wi-Fi card. So I’m guessing Bluetooth shouldn’t be an issue either
Until you try to do VFIO, then AMD not as nice.
this is exactly what i needed, i personally ditch windows as soon as i get a machine and my god the nvidia drivers are so buggy, i would have to dual boot it. however, i wonder how the battery life is on your install, looking to use this for arch.
@@paneledp I’ve had times where I get 8 hours of battery life web browsing and using libre office with dedicated graphics disabled. But it’s usually around 6 hours
AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS can support DDR5 5600/LPDDR5(5X?) 7500 RAM, but the ASUS Zephyrus G14 2023 is only given RAM which is not the maximum speed, so the performance is not optimal (especially on the iGPU)
I also experienced the 3 sec freeze in overwatch. 4080 model in performance mode. I’ve experienced quite a few problems with this machine in the 2 days I’ve had it. If I can’t resolve these issues by the weekend, it’s going back.
How did it turn out for you?
@juliam.426 I returned it. I had to leave the USA without one. Ended up buying a Zenbook Pro 14 with oled. The zephyrus is a better machine, but I was unlucky with the lemon power brick.
@@sflxn yeah I’m bit concerned to get one as it seems there are a lot of qc issues. So for you it was just the charger?
@@sflxn the 4080 one does look super nice though
@juliam.426 Yeah, it was just the charger or possibly the charging circuit in the machine. It was too risky as I leave my laptop connected at home when I go out. You may not get lemon. The non mini led screen was already so good. The body was really rigid with no flex. The zenbook pro runs cooler but with way worst battery life (which is surprising).
Awesome review @MatthewMoniz. I was holding off my laptop upgrade for this update to G14 since two years. I have one question regarding purchase, If one has the option to purchase from Canada (BC) or USA (WA), which place would to suggest to purchase it from?
At Best Buy yesterday, I tested ALL their laptops for the best keyboard, and found two favorite -- the Asus Zephyrus G14 and ThinkPad. The G14 is so good and comfy with 1.7mm key travel it beats out even the G16 and all the Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Microsoft Surface keyboards.
I bought mine like 3 days ago for 1000 dollars :) at best buy. They have some nice sales sometimes.
It’s currently $879 at Best Buy now lol
@@kevinbonquyquy1047 actually??? Damn 😭 well still worth it
You wrote that the G14 keys are better than the G16. G16 is Zephyrus G16? They must have the same keys.
Isn't the ThinkPad keyboard the same as the one on the Legion line?
I'm very happy with the 2022 Radeon 6800s version. I get that the 4090 version is significantly more powerful, but it's $3300 pre-tax, whereas the 2022 6800s version has been $1100-1400 for several months. You could buy the 2022 G14 & build a really powerful gaming desktop for that price. I honestly don't even think I needed to get the 6800s because the 6700s is almost as good & sells as low as $840 at Best Buy.
Yup, i just got mine a few days ago. I got the RX6700S and the Ryzen 9 6900HS for a steal. 850$ at best buy, just because it was open box AND on sale! Originally almost 1700$ pre tax. Its a very good laptop, especially considering 1. It was 1 of 2 of the last ones in my ENTIRE city and 2. I basically stole it from best buy for 850 bucks LOL
@@samclark6573 that's an amazing deal. I actually started having a performance issue with mine. Wasn't cooling properly. Be careful with storing it on its side while using it with a monitor or w/e. It messes up the liquid metal paste.

Ya 2022 G14 had some great deals throughout the year.

Great review! Can you please tell me how and what you used to test the battery?
I'm trying to duplicate that

I'd like to see a gaming test of this exact laptop on 1080p, 1440p, and 4k, with DLSS and Frame Generation comparisons to find the differences.
FINALLY I've been waiting a while for this Matt thanks for the video keep up the great work
You're welcome! Thanks for watching
Always played my gaming laptop (G15 3070) on a laptop cooling pad. Helps massively with the throttling.
Hello! Thank you for this review. May I ask how you tested the battery life? Notebookcheck did a test and it only lasted 7.5hrs. Did you use any form of optimisation or videoplayback? I really want to get this model for school. Which GPU do you think will be the most bang for buck? Thank you
Notebookcheck guy has already clarified that the Mini LED panel is likely the culprit because the Pheonix range is not like their desktop CPUs or Dragon range which are using a chiplet design with seperate I/O die increasing idle power draw.
Pheonix range is like the usual monolithic laptop APUs that we've always had, doesn't have that one disadvantage of chiplet architecture - bit higher idle power draw. With the 7940HS notebookcheck confirmed idle power draw is very low which was expected. And performance per watt is much better than Zen 3.
So it's other things in the system - most likely the mini-led display that drained the battery faster.
This chip is there in the TUF A15 as well with a regular IPS display which is scoring beyond the usual 10hrs of battery life that we expect from AMD laptops.
@@DeepteshLovesTECH Which is funny because Matthew has the exact same config that NBC does
get a 4060, its all you need really, or if you want extra oomph then 4070
This laptop is no doubt good. I'm considering between Helios Neo 16, Strix G16 and ofc this little guy in the video. It's my first choice since I'm upgrading from MacBook Air. If there's nothing holding me back, I would buy the G14!
It should arrive this May.
What about macbook pro 14? Its better device than this Asus in every major way except performance (build quality, display, speakers, keyboard, touchpad, battery, noise)... I'm curious

So I got this laptop and I'm loving it so far but have noticed when gaming it's not as smooth as my PS5 like for example rocket League shows I'm playing at 165 fps on the fps counter but for some reason it doesn't feel that smooth like I definitely feel some micro stuttering during gameplay, is there anything you recommend do?
I feel as though the sweet spot is still the 4070. Love to see info on that, also is the mini led available on a 4070 version
No the mini led is on the 4090.
Depends on the region, here in Sweden we have the 4070 with min-led.
sadly the 4070 on the g14 this year is only 8gb of vram instead of 12gb, doomed from the get-go
looking at mats other test with 4070s (Aero) this is about 40% more powerful. My guess 4090 has about 10 to15% increase over 4080 version. 4080 is probably the sweet spot.
In the UK the miniLED is only on the 4090 model, all the other models have the (very good) 165HZ / 500 nits "nebular" IPS screen and Anime Matrix, but it looks like different countries have different SKUs. e.g. all the UK models are dark grey (which I prefer)
I had issues with my m16 with overheating to the point that it was blue screening constantly. Asus bought it back after a ton of time spent with customer service.
Hi Mathew, love your content and needed some help. I have been facing this issues with my asus vivobook pro 14 oled laptop for a while now
So the issues are with the display of the device
1. It has color tint/shift at differernt brightness levels.
2. It has wierd squares in videos at low to midium brightness level.
3. It sometimes has this glitch of showing black borders around text. 4. It will sometimes show green or some colour spots on the display in bright white portions while playing videos.
5. Inconsistent background color,
like in file manager/RUclips one corner of the screen would be blooming and the other corner would be pitch black.
It has been almost 9 months since i Own it.
Then because of this issues i got the display exchanged.
But most of the issues are still here.
asked friends who own this laptop or a varient of it and they do not face any issue.
I own the Amd 5600H version of this laptop. I did have some of the issues you mentioned but it was solved after updates. Which version is yours?

Best Buy sale for 4060 version. I just picked up in white for 1399 (originally 1599) I feel that price worth it even though limited to 8gb VRAM.
Nice review Matt are you reviewing the Asus Zenbook 14 pro oled with a 4070? Seems like the perfect all arounder.
Can't wait for the reviews. That laptop looks really promising. I need a 14'' laptop so it is either the zenbook pro oled or a 14'' MacBook pro m2
Hey Matthew, thank you for the Review. In Germany, the G14 2023 starts at 2500 € including taxes (rtx 4060, 7940 Hs, 16 Gb Ram.) Would you consider this as an option in contrast to a 2022 model with 6800s, 6900Hs, 32 Gb Ram for 1599 €? Im not sure if 50 % higher price can be justified by a 125 w rtx 4060 vs 100 w rx 6800s, Zen 4 Chip, native USB 4 Support and a slightly better webcam while getting 16 gb less of ram. Rtx 4070 starts at 2999 €, so nearly double the price than for what i payed for last years top model
Its not worth it imo. I just got the last year model and it can run any game in qhd anyways. It would be way more interesting if they put miniled displays into lower tier models this year but they didnt
Thanks Matthew. Does this screen have more or less ghosting than last year's?
Less
thanks for this! still really confused whether to wait for the G14 or get the strix G16 (~2.5k USD)
i think i want the portability more but i'm kinda used to my 15.6in screen so can't really say :C
Yo same
Same
As someone who switched from a 15.6" to 14", the portability and lightweight factor of the G14 is what sold me. I have the original 2020 version with the Ryzen 9 and 2060 Max-Q and the 2022 with a Ryzen 9 and 6700S. It's so worth being able to haul this little power house anywhere and demolishing anything I throw at it. A 15.6" always felt just a little too big in my opinion.
@@kevinsj99 I do use after effects so I appreciate the extra leg space on the bigger screen 😥
@wafflebutsad That's completely fair, I use Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and suprisiginly it wasn't bad. Keep in mind that the screen is 1600p and I change the scaling to 150% instead of 200%, I bring it closer to my face as I use those lap table things lol
I also use it on a 27" curved monitor at my desk and it works well that way.

Does the Best Buy one have the mini led display? I bought the 6700s last year for 650 on Best Buy and best deal I could ever get. Might give my laptop to my family tho if the 4070 has the mini led!
NotebookCheck also reviewed this and it doesn’t seem like theirs was throttling in Turbo mode at all. Could be bad Liquid Metal application on Matt’s unit or a software bug maybe? Overall very impressed with how powerful this is for a 14” device!
Thanks, I didn't even see their review
It's probably not just the unit in this video, but from few videos i've watch the lower tier g14 (below rtx 4080 and 4090) having a thermal issues, especially the one that using rtx 4060 😅
@@taupangnang1245 it’s possible since those actually tend to run hotter than the 4080/4090 due to die size. But also Asus’ thermal application seems to be pretty hit or miss. Actually any laptop manufacturer that uses Liquid Metal suffers the same risk, even Lenovo. In fact after this video came out I had received my G14 and sure enough, the Liquid Metal was sloppily applied. Re-spread it and viola, runs like a dream!
Hey mathew! Great review!
Which one would you suggest I get, this or the Samsung book 3 ultra? as a new university student, I'm a devloper and engineer and I play pretty light games, things that matter to me are good display for content consumption and brightness and build quality and reliability and 3-4 hours of office use, or should I just skip both and get a macbook pro? And good thermals lol
If you care about build quality and reliability and getting the most battery definitely MacBook Pro. But between the Galaxy Book and this guy I'd probably get the G14.

LOL that's Canada for you. It's a review unit from ASUS
but how different would the battery life be, say when compared to the 4050 or 60 model variant? Cuz obvly 4090 is too much for my wallet and I just want a more "normal" experience
i'm sure his battery life test is using purely the iGPU, so in that case it wouldn't matter if it was a 4050 or a 4090.
Does this g14 have better sound than last year? Last year has muffled sound and had to play with dolby atmos settings to get it ok
4090 is too much for this little guy (and too expensive). 4060 is just perfect
The 4060 is a great combo on this just wish it had a sku with the mini led

I bought the UK (dark grey) RTX 4070 model with Anime Matrix, but mostly just because ALL UK models (except the 4090, which has a miniLED screen instead) have Anime Matrix. I guess it could be fun when DJing at house parties, but if the non-Anime Matrix version of the 4070 had been available in the UK, I would have gone with that, as I think it's then about 1mm thinner and 50 grammes lighter.
The machine itself is great, the 4070 is plenty powerful enough for the sort of games I play (RPGs and strategy games mostly). I did upgrade it to 32Gb RAM (total) and replaced the SSD with a 2Tb Samsung 990 Pro (more capacity and much faster than the stock drive).

Wait how does those graphs make sense? 4:27 34k amd score looks almost like intel 21k and you say its almost in line with intel?
I just got mine yesterday, but with the 4060. There is one thing I am shocked on, and that is the lack of an Ethernet port. I get it was probably for space reason, but even with WiFi 6, a hard line is more reliable.
Can always buy a type-c to ethernet adapter
I'd rather not have a big ugly ethernet socket in the G14, it looks terrible on the G15
You know nowadays you can just get a Ethernet cable that connects via usb-c that isn’t even an adapter. Super cool
How much was the model with 4090, can’t find the price. And is it worth to upgrade from 2021 model (3060) ?
I haven’t been able to find any rtx 4080 version benchmarks on RUclips for the g14, I’m awaiting mine to arrive (hopefully today!)
How is it?
Please, review a 4060 or 4070 one!
I think that's the laptop config most of us would buy.
I'm definitely buying the 4060 model. The 4090 costs $2,500 here in the US.
It's so expensive this year. smh. Might grab the 2022 model though.
Compared to the g16 10h and 12h do you think it’ll be abig difference? Though the g16 for me will be QHD.
the majority of battery tests are never realistic. I use PC Mark to get a better idea since it does more than just a video run down test but I'd take any result and half the time. My guess you'll get more around 6-7 hours of REAL use assuming you're not gaming.

What is the battery life on the G14? And with other 40 series GPUs would the battery last longer?
I'm like all for this thing, but starting at 2500€ with a 4060 and 16 GB RAM is a bit extreme.
Offering a 4050 or even 3050 Ti option would make so much sense.
There will apparently be an RTX 4050 model, though it will have only 6Gb VRAM (the 4060 and 4070 have 8Gb)
excellent review i just bought this for 1000 flat , but im getting a 2tb t500 m.2 and a 16 ram extra for a total of 32 Ram , i dont think i will need more but i think 32 is nice for basic gaming and and occsional photoshop even tho i use an ipad for that
where can i get this laptop? i’m searching everywhere and finding nothing, including pages like amazon
The gpu thermal headroom is only 100 watt stable + 25 watt temporary boost.
Ad103 4090 is overkill for this laptop.
Even desktop 4070 spec is 200 watts
I think the 4060 version is ideal one
idk, matching full performance 4080 laptops is quite crazy for sth this small. Plus the >8gb VRAM advantage is already apparent in some games like Jedi Survivor
How could reviewers not mention the fact that USB-C charging has no passtrough in a laptop all about portability! It can only charge the battery, not power the laptop directly after topped off, so the battery constantly cycles on/off.
I have last year's model, the ROG ZEPHYRUS GA402RK. To balance the performance without throttling, I have to disable 'Aggressive' CPU Profile in Power Options. I'm also using Manual Profile in Armoury Crate, then create custom curve for the fans. I can run full power with high wattage without thermal throttling. The only downside obviously is the fan noise, but I'm using headsets. Maybe you could try this trick in this new model, and see if it will get better performance without having to wait for BIOS update from Asus... Cheers... 😊
There is no comparison. This year is way better.
@@frostgodx agreed. I was not comparing though...
Where is 'Power Options', i want to disable that too pls
@@skeletongx just remove armoury crate and use Ghelper you can adjust cpu boost style or disable all together in there along with all the same options you have in armoury crate but way lighter process.
Can you please review the Asus TUF A16 Advantage Edition (2023)? Thank you
8 months later, has the turbo mode been fixed?
No, there is no way to fix it.
🤔 I'm intrigued and I've wondered this for a while now can it run VR?
is the ram upgradable to 64? I read somewhere the processor can handle up to 256gb ram but idk how many ram slots there are
4:05 the cost just reminded me that I do not belong here.
G14 community has been dealing with the heat problem, we undervolt the cpu, manually increase fan speed and/or disable aggressive boost of the cpu. This drops temps to 76-80
I just got my g14 like 3 days ago, can you explain this to me in layman terms? I'm not very savvy, I did download g-helper, and I see the settings but don't really know what they do or mean :(
best buy website mentions this model has a touchscreen but doesn’t mention miniLED. surely there aren’t that many different SKUs?
This is a nice laptop. Thanks for the review
You're welcome!
Is the keyboard truely White? I have a 2020 g14 and the keyboard is actually Silver rather than White. Thanks
Does that turbo mode warning apply to the 4060 model?
I'm thinking to buy either the G14 or the Flow X13, any news on the X13?
The G14 will have much better cooling than the Flow X13
Great review!
Thank you!
The 3 secs frame drop turbo mode is also seen on my 2020 mid tier version with 1660 ti max-q model, anyone else having this issue?
Awesome one button feature for a daily docked driver, take the bottom chasis off, stick a strong fan under and enjoy
I don't know too much about how this works, but is it possible if they put a high-end card with an even lower power restriction like 4090 at 70w into a small laptop like g14, and get a performance somewhere near a full power 4080 or 70 but with much less temperature and fan noise when running games?
And we see here that 4090 at 125w is still a little too much for the 14inch machine to handle so I thought if a lower power could help
Mannn the g16 nvidia sticker(s) "controversy" was gold.. the one in this just doesn't cut it 😂
Zephyrus g14 rtx 4070 or zephyrus m16 rtx 4070?? Is it much of a difference talking about power and performance in videogames?
Wow! 12 hours of battery - the most we've seen on this gen of laptops so far? Do you think that's because of the AMD CPU or something else? Did you do anything to achieve that, like lower refresh rate, screen brightness, etc.?
40% screen brightness and on silent + eco mode
@@MatthewMoniz Did you leave on panel power saver (which lowers the screen's refresh rate to 60 hz on battery)?
@@cameronbosch1213 mine will default to 60hz when unplugged and back to 165 when plugged in.
@Darkhan I think they all do that out of the box; I'm surprised Matt never mentioned it, because it's a good feature.
@@MatthewMonizdo you think I'll get 12 hours of battery life in eco mode with the 4070 model?
Can you review the Origin EVO14-S? Please 🙏
Still rocking my 2020 g14
Fro architecture students would you recommend this?
My IdeaPad Gaming 3 also gets 95+ when cinebenching and also under heavy load with 45w & 100%cpu.. but amd can handle upto 110 so .
hey Matthew, do you think the 7735+4070 is bad option? i like it so far but dont want to miss on zen 4
Go for the R9 7940HS / RTX4070 (I did ..), why settle for a previous generation CPU?
@@paulgroves8633 got scammed by amd, thought they it was zen 4 when i got it
@@teweladikiflemariam6601 it's "Zen 3+", but is basically just a slightly improved version of the 6800HS from last year
@@paulgroves8633 yeah, it sucks tbf, i want zen 4 but cant return it now
@@teweladikiflemariam6601 Sorry to hear that 😢
Interesting video as always, it would be interesting how is regular IPS version with backlight bleeding, hope they improve that screen too, sometimes Mini LED model prices are too high not only for GPU
I don't see any backlight bleed on my 4070 model with IPS screen
They are too expensive in my country, the previous model was like US$2,468. With a Ryzen 7 6800HS and RX 6800S witha 1080p screen. I doubt this year it'll be lower
In Eastern Europe they overblown the price as well.
Still loving my 2020 g14.
this just means the 2022 model is an even better buy. all AMD machine helped the battery life go crazy
