      I mean like, why would you choose the lowest/medium spec device if you really want to test the device's limits.
      Testing/reviewing the highest spec model allows the reviewer to push the device to its limits while testing, to see if it or it doesn't hold up (for example: if an i9, RTX 4090 machine can easily handle thermals, the same can be said for it's lower spec counterparts since lower end GPUs and CPUs have lower power limits). It's really just the nest thing to do. 🤓

      @@user-dd9pv9pv9p do you drive at 300mph? Your tyres have been tested for that but people whose cars are gonna use those tyres wouldn't do that limit. A testing at the limit is necessary to ensure safety but a tyre that performs well at 300 may not perform well at 30. Most people are gonna find the 30 metric useful rather than the 300 and a reviewer's primary focus should be narrating their experience to the people at 30 not 300 because the 300 is the more of a job of the manufacturer to ensure safety and highest standards. Yes someone will do 300 but its not everyone and I'm not saying a reviewer shouldn't test 300, they should for the minority but its the 30 that really matters.

    Thanks for the review! After a month of forcing myself to use the ROG M16 2023, I've returned it back to the store due to the left USB Type-C port not working at all. It all started after BIOS & Windows updates. I've tried to re-flash BIOS, and uninstalled/re-installed drivers for the Root USB hub, but no luck. Hope that it will be fixed in the later update, but I'm back to using my trustworthy Macbook Pro 16.

    I’ve spent the past couple of days looking at a ton of gaming laptops and everything I’ve seen so far basically screams this one is for me. There’s not too much going on but it’s not so lacking it’s bad, it’s running about the same price as other laptops with 4060s and 4050s I’ve seen with similar displays, and I’m pretty happy with this decision. Going to be picking mine up tomorrow hopefully 🤞

    I want to see manufacturers switch to 16GB as base RAM capacity, and start offering 32GB options on most mid to high end laptops. If you get a high end CPU like an i7 or i9, you should be enabled to use it to its potential, and RAM capacity can be a serious bottleneck.

      a single stick of DDR5 ram is doesn’t suffer as much of a performance drop compared to DDR4

    • @toteorison594
      @toteorison594 Год назад +9

      A single stick ddr5 gives an equivalent performance compared to a dual channel ddr4, as a single stick ddr5 Ram has a dual channel layout that supports two channels per DIMM slot. That is a single ddr5 slot contains 2 channels , or you can say that there are 2 channels per stick. So 2 ddr5 sticks doesn't make any difference and is the same as 4 ddr4 rams.

    I just upgraded today. It was $450 off at Best Buy so it was kind of a no-brainer for me. I've been using a 2020 G14 since it launched and I really needed more screen real estate as I'm starting to work on bigger projects in my engineering classes, plus the extra performance will be a big time save. So far I really like it! The only thing I'm not thrilled about is the system responsiveness on battery. It feels great when plugged in but it really slows down once it's unplugged.

      @@theawesomeking5513 I've only had a couple days with it so I still don't have a final answer, but overall it's very good. I think I was expecting something that's just not possible on a Windows laptop in terms of responsiveness on battery. Also, I think there were a lot of background processes going on the first day or two as things were updating and syncing. Windows update had over 60 updates, not including everything from Microsoft Store, MyASUS, and Armoury Crate. If you switch to Performance mode, you get all of that performance back at the expense of fan noise and battery life. It's not an issue exclusive to this laptop, it's just the way things are if you want a high-performance Windows machine. I haven't run into an instance where I need more raw processing power, rather the responsiveness of clicking around isn't quite as snappy as it is plugged in. I think most of what I was feeling was the drop from 240Hz to 60Hz as a power saving measure. Even with that, it's still faster than my G14 even while in Silent mode. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend if you can get it on sale. I don't think you can find a more complete package in any other laptop.

    I wish it came with an i7h processor for maybe $100 or so less since the i9 in this really performs like an i7. It seems only the hx processor got the real bump in performance in this latest gen from intel. Nonetheless, i've certainly seen worse laptops for $2k. This one isn't bad. On a sale, I think it would be a worthy choice. It's not for me, but I can see many people choosing this one.

For me, a 14" screen is too small but bigger laptops dont have ryzen or either dont come cheap, or are not as portable. I would peak out at 1.9-2kg for the weight, and $1600 for the price. @@Rimuruwu I ended up going for the g14 for 1099 today. Viewed different reviews and went to see them in person. The price difference for the m16 4070 currently at $1500 didn’t catch my attention much considering they both have 8gb of VRAM and within videos I really didn’t see a big difference in fps. I also read that g14 is way better in power efficiency when not gaming. Also it is very light and compact Compared to the m16. fans are way louder on the m16. Idk if anyone else has any input for either laptop but 1099 I think this is a very good deal. So far I ran read dead 2 on ultra in native 2k without dlss and I get avg of 55fps with dlss on balanced 80ish. Ready or not on ultra with dlss 100fps avg. And the outlast trails around 100fps max. On 1080 it went up to almost the displays max at 160fps avg. Other then that the display is pretty nice compared to other laptops with 4060’s at this price point. The sound is also great if you change the Dolby settings to auto vs the standard mode it comes in. Also the laptop has been very fast and snappy and Ummmm lastly I upgraded it easily to a 2tb ssd (gonna have to reinstall drivers and windows or clone it to the new drive) and added an extra Corsair’s 16gb of ram to bring it up to 32gb. 2tb WD SN850x for $130. And the ram was a 16gb laptop vengeance 4800MHz stick for $45

    First time saw someone recommending 4070 over the higher ones, and I am glad about it. Honestly 4070 is the card most people will want to have for their needs, it just performs to a plenty level and isn't deficient unless you are adamant at comparing it to the covetous 4080 & 90. Not only they are expensive but also overkill for an average gamer who is not fanatic about every single atom of performance. 4070 just meets the requirments to play scenic AAA games at QHD+ max settings(RT) at a fine fps of 60 with DLSS3 and Frame Gen that are a god send! Please❤like if you agree and spread the word to all those who have been reluctant to admit that they want a 4070 and they shall fear not just becuz some rich, nerdy youtubers pass a judgement on probably the most proper graphic card to have on a portable laptop!

    “Not seeing a big bump in performance over 12th gen” if Asus laptops with intel are actually in stock at stores, then that alone is a HUGE improvement. I could not find 1 anywhere last November, except 1 or 2 places had them for full blown retail price during black Friday week when I was shopping. So got a Lenovo Slim 7i Pro X with 12700H for like half the prices as the Asus Intel laptops.
