I wasn't surprised. The Polynesians were using them to great advantage by the time they started experimenting with sails. The next 'logical' step up was the 'Catamaran'. HELL of a sailing craft. Just keep on pushing at the limits of your imagination Sir. Our ability to 'imagine' is truly what raises us above the other beasts we share this planet with.
Pretty cool man! A lot of steel though and a lot effort to assemble but hey you did it your way and beats sitting around doing nothing. A+ for effort, A for execution, A for application, B for design...
yea i agree with dentray because my dad was grinding on a combine wheel and a spark flew into his left eye and cut the nerve in the back of his eye, he had to go to hospital and have his eye taken out of his head to repair the damage to the nerve and had his eye put back in and he only had 50% of his eye sight left, so if you dont want something like that to happen to you i highly suggest you wear eye protection
Welding right on top of plastic , do the outriggers keep your yak floating with Holes in it ? Or is the Kayak in video used as a Jig then buy a new one to put them on ?
Great welding job! Not the best shape for the outriggers. They will give you some stability, but will cause a lot of drag. Search "Crab floats" they have a better design to cut through water. All in all good effort.
I'm a D1-1 certified APW and I do not own a wire feed mig/tig welder Great project but one 90% of fisherman do not have the equipment to make. Lastly I would not make my out rigger supports from non-galvinized steel and likely only Aluminum if I chose to use metal at all for both the savings in weight and so rust doesn't leach all over my Kayak Make lots of treestands from non-galvinized steel and went to great lengths to prep it and paint the steel and with less than three years tgexsteel began to rust This is simply unavoidable
I mean if you make put the stabilizers a little bit more into the water it would be more stable. I think but it will create more drag for the kayak aswell.
I work in regular fab shops and no one uses a cover on their grinders. If you're afraid of a cut off wheel breaking throw on a face shield, those safeties dont do shit.
Great dam job kid if it works for u screw the haters and safety officials on here i farm and do alot of the same stuff u do get it done make it work go catch fish u get a super high 5 from me
My first time Kayaking and this Kayak held strong. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx4k5UrhC3v_Y4hIEaXLGvHcN5a5aBmZNB The water got pretty rough as a speed boat zipped by me, and the Kayak withstood it (I expected to be capsized). The Ores are very easy to put together, the pump worked beautifully. the seats are a bit hard to sit in after a while (I recommend sitting on the floor). after reading the reviews I was very scared it'd get a hole in it, the material is very strong and durable. The Air valve may need a small Phillips head screwdriver to adjust, other than that, it's well worth the money!(update)I've gone Kayaking in 3 Lakes and 2 rivers totaling about 40 miles. the kayak had two holes and they patched easily and no other problems can't wait for kayaking season this year!
Ripped outriggers out on this exact same kayak, it cannot handle them. And I had backing plates and stuff. If you are watching this video and have this kayak don't put any outriggers on it. Definitely don't do it this way.
he's using foam rollers. they can be found in exercise sections at stores like walmart or online at amazon. at 5:50 you can see he's using one made by gold's gym in case you want same one.
The techno-garble background noise doesn't add to your video. I'd much rather hear the sounds of your work in progress. I also wondered about your welding on top of a poly plastic boat. Doesn't that leave pitting in the plastic?
I called them stabilizers or Outriggers. But hey you're the genius that's welding on a plastic kayak. So I guess they are called shoes. I'm Gonna start calling them shoes too..
The most and the lead in the canoeing kayaking and the other and see what the next floating after such a long pontoon boat and fixed the issue with the same boat as the registered owner and operator of the fibres are you doing today two of them
Wow what a great idea let me go to welding school now so I can do this myself. By the time you buy the metal and the tools to do the job you might as well spend $219 for one that's already made on Amazon. This is just stupid
sorry dude, I just couldn't watch! Guard off angle grinder, no gloves, no eye protection, cutting toward your self. This is like a video demonstrating all the wrong things to do with an angle grinder. I appreciate the effort you put into this, but mate, your not superman. wear some gear, use the guards, use some technique!
WTF Zero eye protection when cutting Ali with a grinder? clearly shown at 0:50 on, sir you need to spend a little less time filming yourself and a bit more time on "very very basic" machine safety and essential "personal protective equipment" (ppe).
You are way too young to be losing an eye. Please use a face shield. Safety glasses only block so much. I've known plenty of people who say, it won't happen to me and then they get hurt.
Yep. Outriggers on a kayak or canoe are a MUST for old dudes like me. Well done.

Thanks man! I was surprised at how much of a difference they made.

If i get an idea in my head then i make it. There are no limits when you have the tools and the mindset to do something!
Good for you. And well said. Thinking people like YOU give me renewed hope for our future.
+singleman
Thanks I appreciate it.
Pretty cool man! A lot of steel though and a lot effort to assemble but hey you did it your way and beats sitting around doing nothing. A+ for effort, A for execution, A for application, B for design...
Cut with your grinder from the other side or flip it over and the
sparks, metal will go tothe floor not in your face.
Looks good thogh.

Did you even watch the video
Amazing that people put trust in six 1/4-20 screws and pvc pipe and fittings!
Great job. It looks very stable indeed. Well done on making them yourself and thanks for sharing.
I love the gradual progression of protective equipment.
Osha approved
This was 3 years ago. Glad you weren't injured in the process. How are the outriggers holding up? Does the foam soak up water?
How much weight did you add to your kayak with those outriggers?
nicely done !
nice job melting holes in the yak by using the torch on top of or right next to the boat!
He said "I'm a call them shoes " lol classic but great video, thanks!!!
Looks great....
Good job young man, good to see someone your age finding a solution to a problem.
Great welding job! Not the best shape for the outriggers. They will give you some stability, but will cause a lot of drag. Search "Crab floats" they have a better design to cut through water. All in all good effort.
zaher syed boat bumpers work well too.
I’ve considered boat fenders in the past. Saw some mermaid ones at Scheels last summer
zaher syed ?o
Use PVC..much lighter and no welding or grinding to attach
Scott Adams probably ends up being the same weight pvc ain't that light
Crazy Hope it still floats.
i think it looks way detter than the pvc out riggers. good job man.
I'm a D1-1 certified APW and I do not own a wire feed mig/tig welder

This video should be titled "watch me learn to use a grinder" how did those sparks feel 🤣
I just like being a smart ass, good work
Where did you buy the floaters ?
Looks like it says Gold's Gym on top
Amigo la idea es muy buena te felicito saludos cordiales de Chile 🇨🇱
You must have a grinder cover for safety.
This machismo act . . . it does not resemble what real men are like.
Lmfao
I work in regular fab shops and no one uses a cover on their grinders. If you're afraid of a cut off wheel breaking throw on a face shield, those safeties dont do shit.
Great video, I just bought the same kayaks. Thanks
omg build a jig, stop berry burning the boat! lol
How come you’re wearing a glove on your right hand and not your left hand. Kinda defeats the purpose.
Great dam job kid if it works for u screw the haters and safety officials on here i farm and do alot of the same stuff u do get it done make it work go catch fish u get a super high 5 from me

What material do you put so that you do not overturn?
Fishing pole holder on your stabilizers
You need an R2D2 cooler for the back now.
What are those foam pieces?
That’s so cool brother
Looks good but I think steel is a poor choice
Where did you get the foam?
Not sure why, but I cannot find anything like that to use
he's using foam rollers. they can be found in exercise sections at stores like walmart or online at amazon. at 5:50 you can see he's using one made by gold's gym in case you want same one.
Safety glasses!
What are the black pipes? Where do I find them to buy?
Jhones Marques black pipes?
Do you have any ppe
El guante se usa para la mano que sostiene el caño no la abtorcha
tendrian que sacar este video x la inseguridad en el manejo de herramientas electricas ¡
good job junior
Haven't seen your new vid and been over a year since your last one
The techno-garble background noise doesn't add to your video. I'd much rather hear the sounds of your work in progress. I also wondered about your welding on top of a poly plastic boat. Doesn't that leave pitting in the plastic?
Sponson: a buoyant appendage at the gunwale of a canoe to resist capsizing.
Turning off Like/Dislike is always a worry sign for me. Maybe its one of those new RUclipsKids things
Idk seemed like a good video to me
Missed just use the "epis" security first
Where did you get the foam floats from?
Thatoneguy They say Gold’s Gym on the ends. Walmart carries Gold’s back rollers as do a number of stores that carry exercise equipment.
Foam rollers for exercise. Get them at Walmart or any place else
Black and Red outriggers scared all the fish and all the Starwars crew.
I made it from Tungsten its much heavyer.
Next time use hairspray lol
u guys see small parts of kayak on fire from welding lol
I called them stabilizers or Outriggers. But hey you're the genius that's welding on a plastic kayak. So I guess they are called shoes. I'm Gonna start calling them shoes too..
I just called them stabilizers

good idea me and my friend got overturned in the weekend and got caught in a rip. was some real bear grylls shit

Te quedo bueno se ve que te gusta. Usa las medidas de seguridad y Difundilas. Empezando por Gafas y el protector de la moladora
this griender got no safet at all mate.
Put a sail on it
Il
your notthe sharpest pencil in the box about using power tools, thats a fact!!
Where did you find the foam?
+Scott Bradley
It is for exercise but it works for floatation. You can get it at Walmart in the exercise items.
next time use pvc pipe
:-) last weld coulda been done on the ground after next to last
*one of a better build out there, but not everyone has the tools
think pvc lighter
Capó
lol

kill the music bro. that's nasty.
5:10 (middle right) What is that thing crawling?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
Preston Playz - Minecraft i seen it lol
Would have been a good vid had it not been for that BLOODY AWFUL MUSIC .
with a New Canoe there is no need for outriggers.
Too much music, you are not in concert, you are working on a yak.
Lower the music volume!
sorry dude, I just couldn't watch! Guard off angle grinder, no gloves, no eye protection, cutting toward your self. This is like a video demonstrating all the wrong things to do with an angle grinder. I appreciate the effort you put into this, but mate, your not superman. wear some gear, use the guards, use some technique!
Why does everybody think music is good
Omg...what ANNOYING music🤬👎🏼...2minutes in I hit mute...then decided to just hit delete and leave...not even a supply list.. yikes
I hate when you video of you talking, low tone so I have to turn it up then cuts to blaring music. I know this is an old video but still.
WTF Zero eye protection when cutting Ali with a grinder? clearly shown at 0:50 on, sir you need to spend a little less time filming yourself and a bit more time on "very very basic" machine safety and essential "personal protective equipment" (ppe).
How does him not wear glasses endanger you? Its his eyes, why would you give a fuck what he does? Fuck off safety Sally.
can you imagine thinking you're tough enough to withstand steel in your eye... wow
Ok clipboard warrior
Also it was steel numbnuts, aluminum doesn't spark
Well said Dentray. Safety first always. Unless the muppets bagging you know where you can buy a new eye😂😂😂😂
You are way too young to be losing an eye. Please use a face shield. Safety glasses only block so much. I've known plenty of people who say, it won't happen to me and then they get hurt.
the musac is fucking awfull!!
Does the front bars interfere with paddling?
