Nice, this is the best way of doing it that I've seen so far. I like how you didnt do any unnecessary drilling in the boat or make any crazy changes, great idea using the existing rod holders as a way to secure the board. I didn't think of that, glad that I found this video!

I have been 3 days looking at different plans for DIY outriggers. This is by far, not only the best, easiest setup, it is the best presentation of how you did it. Search is over, THIS is the one I'll be doing. Thank you to both your for your excellent work and your wife for proper supervision of the overall project.

I'm making the swap from whitewater and surf kayaking to fishing from a kayak and this was the best video BY FAR on outriggers for a kayak! Thank you for the excellent video! I'll be Rip'n Lips from my kayak in no time! And not be worrying so much about my big ass going for an unwanted swim!

Definitely going to set this up on my yukon. May try to have it interchangeable with a landing gears for transport

Thanks for making this video. Very informative and most of all functional. I like that you used the 1" sections to go inside the 1" 1/4" to allow for easy removal while transporting. You could incorporate at least three rod holders in the 1" 1/4" behind the seat if you felt you needed them. I also have the 27" fenders. They are a lot more stable than the smaller 23". I have a Brooklyn RA220. It's 11.5 ft. so at 34" wide by 11.5 ft the 27" seems much more appropriate. Thanks again. Please end me links if you have other videos.

Thanks for the view and comment.. You could add a nut to the bolts that hold the bolts in place then set the bord directly on top of those nuts and tighten the board down the same way as the video shows. This would allow you to remove the board but the bolts would remain in place.

    • @spawnlordgaming7826

You can definitely, (most likely) be able swap out the bumpers for wheels and now you have a landing gear for transport.

  • @crawford323

You know, the method of attachment is sturdy enough you could use the same to attach a trolley wheel also. The issue would be bracing the wheels because of the long moment arm and stress to the attachment. Urey struts or even para cord running fore and aft to pad eyes could give support to the deployed wheels.

Instead of vice grips, put two nuts on the bolt (after your bolt is screwed on a ways) you can tighted those two nuts together so you can then use a wrench on one of those nuts to hold the bolt still while you finish screwing down the nut. Once your main nut is tight, you can just remove the other two nuts.

Why not just mount the pvc straight to the kayak why the board? Seems like added weight for nothing

    • @5gadventureoutdoors8

Thx for video. I have pelican Sentinel 100XP. Was going to rig these with the 90 degree pipe stuck in existing rod holders. You think your method is more stable? Also did the pvc tees and 90s attach to electrical conduit tightly? What glue? They make glue for both kind of pipe.
