My bus driver is Spanish and I am not sure he knows what cricket is
More award ideas:
Player who couldn't get anything right- Pandya/Maxwell
Most clutch
Best captain
Worst umpiring
Best fielder
Best impact sub
Best matchup
Maxwell bowled very well.
@@UmpireStrikesBack 6 wickets at an economy of 8 in the middle overs isn't really very, not for any award consideration anyways
@@NachiketNaik Yes, very well is an exaggeration. But it is not fair to say he got nothing right.
@@UmpireStrikesBack pandya also improved his bowling by the 2nd half of the season, but still nowhere close to right
Best Batter & Fielder - Virat Kohli
Agree with almost all of them except Death overs finisher. Can’t see anyone pipping Stubbs for that. He scored at 3 runs per ball for entire season. That’s just illegal and insane.
Karthik has scored at SR 300 through third this year. 45 runs off 15 balls
I agree. It's Stubbs for me as well. I also would've given the most improved to Riyan Parag.
Remember that Riyan has scored all the runs he has this season with a shoulder injury. He isn't fully fit , that's why we haven't seen him bowl more often. His fielding also is restricted because of that. He was doubtful to play this season , huge respect for him to still turn up.
crazy that pooran wasn't even nominated for the best hitter
Jarrod make a video on “left arm pacers swinging the ball back into the right handers” please.
Most improved is Ryan , no doubt.
yup, he has shown that maturity, which was lacking in the middle, controlled the innings several times, which is one of the toughest jobs
No way travis head is the best player of pace..he literally got cleaned bowled in last 2 matches by left armers n i can see him boulty doin same in qualifier 2
Best player of pace has different meanings in t20 and test cricket. You don't necessarily have to have tremendous average against it, just an above par average with a tremendous strike rate which makes up for it. Like virat (in previous seasons) have struggled with his strike rate against left arm finger spin, but in test cricket, till recently, he was averaging 90 odd against it, captains in ipl wouldn't mind him not getting out to finger spin and only knocking it around.
Ah yes, the old "the last thing that happened is the thing that always happened and always will happen"
It's called "recency bias", if you wanna know what you're afflicted with
Love your sports Almanac from back to the future..
how is Venky Iyer not in the middle overs award?
My award winners:
Most improved: Riyan Parag
The McStrike: Pathirana
Real Purple Cap: Bumrah
The Bhuvi: Boult
Best Defensive Bowler: Bumrah
The Dre Russ: Narine
The Rashid: Varun Chakravarthy
The Yusuf: JFM / Trav Head
Real Orange Cap: Trav Head
Best Player of Pace: JFM
The Raina: Patidar
The Sehwag: JFM
The Rayudu: Sanju Samson
The Dhoni: Stubbs
Best Newcomer: JFM
Too many JFM but I agree with the other choices
Need some better volume
Can u up this in upcoming videos
You must add best Captain and best fielder.
I would have chosen Samson for the Raina Award on the basis that he has only been dismissed by spin once this year (Karn, RR vs RCB). He may have had a below average SR for the year but he provided stability to a middle order that has been RR's recent weakness this year.
The best mid-overs batter should be the Raina! Not taking anything away from Rayudu though.
What about best wicketkeeper??
great video, please do the same for future tournaments. such a great idea
Jarrod never fails, another banger
Best Powerplay Batter - Jake Fraser Mcgurk… most fifties in powerplay… highest strike rate
Best Finisher - Tristan Stubbs … highest strike rate through all seasons
What are you on about?
Sure Jarrod, I will definitely talk to my bus driver about you.
Just call this season 'the Narine cup'.
I feel Ramandeep Singh deserve some award.
This batting+fielding.
I would love to see another season from DK
The best player of pace should be virat i guess, he was dismissed very less times to pacers, and targeted almost all except 1or 2 but im not sure of actual stats, and stats of head
Best player of pace shouldn't go to HEAD
0 in 2 matches against left arm quicks.
This coming from a SRH supporter
You missed Cam Green in best allrounder
The IPL 2024 Ends for the T20 World Cup Exclusive Interview to come for Aus !!
Sanju batted from over 2-3 in most of the games, idk he gets the middle overs award
Love the work you do Jarod and your unabashed and unbiased analysis of the game but to choose Travis over Virat as the Best batter doesn't make any sense Virat might have had a lower strike rate then him but Virat Hit more sixes than him and was just 2 fours short of Heads 64 ,Had his highest season strike rate of any of his last 16 seasons and an Avg of 61.75 ; Travis had an Explosive season no doubt but the sheer amount of runs Virat scored and the way he scored them, He deserves to be the best batter of the tournament; Travis couldn't score a run in 2 knockout games against the same team the best batter of the tournament according to you let a youngster take the strike in a Final just because He can't score a run of Mitchell Starc; and he still couldn't get a run in that match; Striking at almost 2 runs a ball doesn't make you the best batter of the tournament if at the penultimate moment you choose to hide from the challenge.
Ashwin did surprisingly well
Yuvraj Singh comeback of the year award- Rishabh pant
Stubbs surely deserved Best finisher
Pooran and Stubbs deserved some of them
Riyan has defo improved the most ,
He legit carried the RR batting along with samson .
+ ngl Travis head fell off big time in the later stages on the tournament and I feel he is kind of overrated now
Comment for the algorithm
If you think Abhishek has improved more than riyan, then you don't understand cricket.
Riyan stays at the crease till his team is in winning position.
Abhishek's skill might have improved a lot more than riyan's, but as a batter Riyan has crossed a mental barrier that Abhishek is yet to. Riyan might actually become the next great.
Not saying that Abhishek can't, but Abhishek is yet to deliver that one responsible innings that shows signs of greatness
The difference between Kohli and Raina
More like difference between Kohli and Sky in clutch situations.
@@neeljavia2965 cant agree more
however raina has won several matches for india
agreed that is contribution for india is not as par as kohli or dhoni
but he has won matches several times
also in IPL he has won several matches for his team, you cant expect only one person to perform
If someone has a different opinion than you then it is essential you tell them they do not understand cricket.
@@UmpireStrikesBack it's just facts. The game is about things apart from skill. Someone who doesn't see that side of the game has a very limited understanding at best
@@prashants5071 You sound like an amazing genius guru. All hail your superior brain.
Virat nimination for best spin player is a joke
that slog sweep of his in the second half of the ipl is 🤌
Capitalism slogging ! Lol
kohli won nothing?

Travis head...real orange cap... really...are u kidding me... ?
Not even close to virat this season... don't always be biased...
Virat: Avg 62, SR 155
Travis: Avg 44, SR 200
I'd say it's pretty close between who has had the better season.
@@knaughta.masso-kist5944 that's fine but u forgot 1 metric...that is probably quite important... that's the number of runs... 741 by virat and 567 by head... almost 180 runs difference cannot be negated...
