Challenged Sachin, played alongside Kohli, and toyed with Gill. This man has intimidated three generations of Indian Test cricket.

walloped the so called "God" of cricket Sachin, decimated laxman, made Kohli dance to his time and finally never allowed indians to win a series in England, despite being part of one of Eng worst ever test side.@@midfielderlounge2592

@@midfielderlounge2592 what's your problem man, appreciate when someone is retiring. We in Indian culture appreciate everyone in their end no matter how much we hated them before, at least have some dignity.

@@midfielderlounge2592in their last tour to England in 2011 Sachin and Laxman could barely score any runs against Tim Bresnan and got out all the time. India lost all those matches by innings. Even legends struggle in away conditions. What's your point??

Jimmy could've gone on playing for more and personally I'd have loved to see him continue.
Because, we all wanted him to become an ultimate inspiration in proving that age is just a number as long as the passion never subsides.
He could've been the ultimate experiment in competitive sports to test the limits of the human body.
He still runs in and bowls 135+ and looks fit as ever. Who knows, he could well be taking 5-fers at 45 given the selectors didn't interfere.
That would be wonderful for everyone to see.

But at lately if you look at Jimmy he hasnt been in the wickets column, he has been struck in the 690 to 704 for a very long time, from the ashes series he has not been in the wickets column consistently, so tbf we can understand why the selectors wanted to groom another fast bowler

When I look at Jimmy's career now, the stats after the fact, it reminds me of Sachin's, in the the monument to his legacy is the shear weight of the runs/wickets. Having watched both their careers, Anderson didn't have the amount of highs that Tendulkar did, but I still think there is a correlation in that you could say their record is their longevity.

1:35 Allen actually captained England in that series aged 45. This was widely considered a mistake.

Unreal for him to retire whilst still in such good form, and to basically get railroaded into it by Stokes and McCullum

Of all the bowlers to take most wickets, he is the only fast bowler. That itself puts him in the league of legendary bowlers.
