Man! Saved or not! After lovingly following the steps in the bible with someone who is 'hell bent' on believing their 'pet' sin is just dandy, and that they don't need any saving from it, because jesus made them that way........well at least two things are very clear: one.....they got the WRONG jesus! And secondly, we are to hand them over to.... satan, having nothing to do with them!
Salvation??? From what, for what, and why? Sins??? What are they? Jesus/ jesus ??? WHICH JESUS/jesus????? The Jesus of the bible hates my sin of lust, just as much as he hates the sin of two people of the same sex playing with each other! If this Jesus offends you( to whom this may apply), don't lose hope! This very same Jesus who absolutely hates your sin and mine; shed his Holy, Pure, and Righteous blood/ life to pay for you, the filthy sinner, me the wretched sinner, and.......for all the world's sinners!
And get this; he's not asking you to stop your perverted sins, or me my wicked lusting, the Holy Spirit in us will work on that stuff as we go along; all he ask is that we believe he is who he said he is, and believe what he did for all of us on the cross, and of course that he really physically rose from the dead. But did you catch that, this Jesus, The Creator of heaven and earth, paid for our sins! Your filthy perverted sex style, and my wicked selfish lust style. I don't know about you; but this convicts the hell out of me!!! Birthing in me extreem gratefulness! But if you, me , or anyone decides to put our trust in this Jesus, becoming part of his forever family; he'll only put up with our willful rebellion for so long, heck, he may even take us out! And at the very least, True fellowship will be hard to come by. Especially if we continue to insist on dragging the Family Name through the mud; and that name is JESUS!
We can speak easy and simple all day long to those with the Holy Spirit. But speaking to those who don't believe; don't have the Holy Spirit, we are speaking a different language. They literally need to be taught what each word means after hearing a 15 second Gospel presentation. And most importantly.......which Jesus we are proclaiming! We give a brief outline of the Gospel........of Jesus even, making huge assumptions....... I was witnessing to my neighbor stating Jesus was and is God; immediately he corrected me...."No! He was the son of God!" He had no idea what that ment, and he was in disbelief when i told him Jesus was and is his Creator. He believed in the disrorted 'son of God' jesus, just like in the movie 'Oh God' with George Burns and John Denver. John Denver asks George Burns, who is playing God, " Is Jesus Christ the son of God?" And George Burns/God answers............"Yes..........but so is Buddha, Mohammed, (...ect) they are all my children." That is a different jesus.....the wrong jesus, the perverted/distorted jesus not to put our faith in. So.....this question begs, How in the world can someone believe in the Gosple, if they are believing in a DIFFERENT jesus? The Gosple cannot be correct with the incorrect jesus! God/Jesus will NOT be mocked!

As we were before that the changes in our lives happens not instantaneously. Thats why we cannot judge others while not seeing their fruit because maybe the changes will happen after a year or some.. as we said that we cannot judge the book by its cover.. we sould remember that in James, faith without action is death its because it is a justification before men, that men should see that we have Jesus in our lives.. but justification before God is soley our faith.. but as I said, good deeds will come eventually in our lives but not overnight.. and faith with action is a manifestation in our lives because of the Holy Spirit..

@@brandibee7058I've been a Christian 24 years and I was caught up in lordship calvanist teaching for a long time. What I did was I started to study my Bible everyday and said to myself I'm not going to judge God's word by what some man says I'm going to judge what that man says by what God's word says! And I told myself God cannot lie nor contradict himself so if I get to a verse that seems like I can lose salvation than it has to have a different meaning because God has promised us eternal life because we believed on the lord Jesus christ! So in james 2 the lordshipers love to use faith without works is dead and I'd say wait a minute james addresses them as brethren so these are saved people then in romans 4 Abraham believed God so he imputed it as righteousness to him and Abraham was justified by works but not before God! So if not before God than who was he justified before? Man! So that answers james2 faith without works is dead before man. One must rightfully divide the word of God between discipleship, service and salvation. What's required for discipleship? It's costly it cost everything, what does salvation cost? The word repentance has nothing to do with the law. It is referring to repenting (to change one's mind) and believing the gospel. It is actually very simple, but somehow the word repent has been conflated with sin. Think about it, no one can get saved until the day they CHOOSE to CHANGE their previous thought/belief ie (Agnostic/Atheist/etc.) You hear the gospel and REPENT (Change your mind) and BELIEVE unto salvation. Right.
But as Christians, we've got to keep in mind...
You can't just go on living your life any kind of way. The Holy Spirit works in your life and produces fruit.
You won't be the same person.
Every man(and woman) in Christ is a new creation. The Christian life cannot be lived without the Holy Spirit. And Salvation and producing fruit(fruit of the Spirit) in your life is the work of God.
Good works are what follow salvation. You'll want to do good. It's not your works that save you, you don't do work to get saved.
Works are what naturally follow and it's the work of God(giving you a new nature, heart, and desires).
"Faith alone saves, but a faith that saves is never alone." - John Calvin.

Very clear teaching brother. Repenting of your sins to be saved=trying to keep the Law to be saved.
Sadly, as was my experience, most teachers of the Bible put people in bondage to the Law by presenting the impossible task of turning from all of one’s sins in order to be saved.
I actually tried to do this in thought, word, deed, attitude, motives, etcetera. I had a
years-long nervous break down and crushing condemnation as a result.
How anyone cannot live in perpetual condemnation who subscribes to the doctrine of relying on one’s own ability to turn from sins in order to be right with God is beyond me.

Because you turn to the power of God by default you turn away from the power of Satan. Sin has lost its power because we are no longer under the law. I always find it interesting that the strength of sin is the law, yet the law is considered holy & righteous & good. But it is the ministry of condemnation & it kills. Yet it is from God. I’ve been convinced for a while now that the baptism of John was turning from the law for righteousness to the Messiah for forgiveness of sins, true righteousness of God that comes by faith. The examples given by John for “bear fruit worthy of repentance” were interesting though, basically representing a change of heart as it related to their profession. He didn’t say keep all the commandments. He basically just said to be honest in your work, no longer threatening others or taking advantage of them or defrauding them.

Something else that I noticed amongst the repent of sins crowd is that every person get's saved on his own terms, it's always the sins that they have stopped doing that got them saved, those would be the obvious "big" sins.
How can a person that believes that they have repented of sins ever claim to be saved unless they also believe they are sinless perfect? But most people don't believe they are perfect, therefore they have made up their own requirements for salvation. In their mind the "little" sins which they all still do are somehow not keeping them from heaven, while they "big" sins, which they claim they have stopped doing would keep them from entering heaven.
Ironically most of the repent of sins crowd are not living that holy at all, for example many of them have no problem with divorce and remarriage, while the bible clearly teaches this is adultery.

Every book in the new testament is believe believe believe! How did the apostles evangelize? Go read your kjv bible and read how they approached people with the gospel. Example Phillip and the eunuch? Paul and the jailer, Peter in the book of acts.they all said believe on the lord Jesus christ. Now Jesus who was God in the flesh don't miss that! Would say repent and believe the gospel
Now he was speaking to jews who had the law that knew the law so did he need to say repent and follow the law? What didn't they have because the law condemned them just like it does us! They didn't have a savior from the law! God repented 47 times in the old testament was he a sinner? No he repented which means metanoia to change his mind!. So Jesus was God in the flesh and he was saying repent and believe the gospel which means change your mind about me and believe on me! Sorry but God's word says we are saved by believing on the lord Jesus christ 1john5:13

@@elunico13 The problem is that you’re not going to find everything about “Calvinism” in the Institutes. Over time, people took the basic premises of Calvinism - that God is ultimately sovereign in the election and salvation of individuals - and expanded upon them, taking them to their logical conclusions. Calvinism teaches that man is totally depraved and cannot respond to the Gospel message unless God creates the faith in man. In short, God has to regenerate man in order for man to believe, which is backwards according to Scripture where belief precedes regeneration.
Calvinists have argued that if you say that man has the ability to believe the Gospel, they accuse you of arguing for works salvation because the faith comes from man. What is bizarre to me is that Calvinists like Todd play this dishonest game where they say that repentance - which they define as “turning from sins” rather than a change of mind as demonstrated in the original Greek - is not a work, but argue that a man responding in faith to the Gospel by his own volition is a work.

AMEN! Just would like to add...When repentance is used in REGARD TO THE GOSPEL...IT NEVER MEANS TO FEEL SORRY FOR SIN OR TO TURN FROM SIN, OR ANY OTHER AMMENDING THAT IS BEING TAUGHT EROUNIOUSLY TODAY (Like Todd Friel is teaching in this video)...The new testament in our bible was written in Greek...When people see the word repent in the bible...They immediately (automatically) think of feeling sorry or amending their lives toward their sin...THIS IS THE ENGLISH MEANING OF THIS WORD REPENT...This however is never the thought when this word is used in a salvation verse...THE WORD REPENT IN THE GREEK MEANS TO CHANGE YOUR MIND! In the Gospel of John, John...used the word believe about 100 times and never once used the word repent...because it is not necessary to be saved...anyone that believes has automatically changed their mind from whatever they were trusting in before ...so it is something everyone does when they believe because you change your mind and trust in Christ...There is tremendous confusion with this topic of repentance today...
Please read this short study on what repent is and isn't:
    IS REPENTANCE NECESSARY FOR SALVATION?
Now you may be wondering where repentance fits in the Gospel. Isn’t it necessary for salvation?
The answer is determined by how you define repentance. In English the primary definition of repent is to amend or resolve to amend one’s life as a result of contrition for one’s sins. It also can mean to feel regret and to change one’s mind. To add to the confusion, there are two different words translated repent in the New Testament. Since the original languages of the Bible are Hebrew and Greek, it is to them we must turn to determine the exact definition of a word.
The Greek word which is normally translated repentance in the New Testament is metanoia. Repent (metanoeo), the verb form of metanoia, is a word made from the preposition meta, meaning after, and the verb noeo, meaning to perceive, and to think, as the result of perceiving or observing, so the compound means to think differently after, to reconsider. Thus, repentance is merely a change of mind. The idea that this word means a change of mind which issues in regret and a change of conduct, has absolutely no basis, since this idea does not lie in the word etymologically nor by primary usage.
If you didn’t know one word of Greek, you could deduce from Scripture which states that salvation is “not of yourselves” (Ephesians 2:8,9) that this word (metanoeo) could not possibly mean a change of mind which issues in regret and a change of conduct since sorrow for sin and a change of conduct would certainly be considered doing something of yourself. It is only because people misunderstand the doctrine of salvation by faith alone that they read into the word metanoeo a meaning involving human effort.
To further prove scripturally that the word metanoeo simply means a change of mind, let’s again look at John’s stated purpose for writing his Gospel account. John 20:31, says, “But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His Name.”
In his Gospel account, John used the word believe about 100 times and not once used the word repent. Why? Because in order for a person to trust Christ as his Savior, he must change his mind about the way he thinks a person gets to heaven and believe on Christ to take him there!
Another proof that a person doesn’t have to feel sorrow to be saved is the fact that the other Greek word that is translated repent does mean to feel regret or sorrow. That Greek word is Metamelomai, but this word IS NEVER used as a condition for salvation. It is used of Judas in Matthew 27:3, which says, “Then Judas, which had betrayed Him, when he saw that He was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders.” Judas felt regret and remorse over his betrayal of Jesus.
If sorrow for sin were necessary for salvation, then the Greek word meaning sorrow for sin would have been used in the Gospel of John as a condition for salvation. But neither this word nor the other Greek word translated repentance, metanoeo, is found in the Gospel of John. And, it bears repeating that the particular word Metamelomai, which does mean to feel regret or sorrow, IS NEVER used as a condition for salvation.
For those who believe repentance means turning from sin or feeling sorry for sin, I would like to bring up two examples which show the translators understood repentance metanoia to be nothing more than a change of mind. The first is found in Hebrews 12:16,17, where it speaks of Esau, who sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for a single meal. Verse 17 says, “For you know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance though he sought it carefully with tears.” If you are familiar with the story recorded in the Old Testament, you know that Jacob had tricked his blind father into thinking he was Esau and had thereby procured the blessing of the firstborn that would have naturally been given to Esau.
When Esau found out that his younger brother had gotten the blessings of the firstborn, he pleaded with his father. But it says, “he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears” (Hebrews 12:17). This means that he found no way of changing his father’s mind.
The second example is found in Exodus where it is recorded that God repented. This happened at the time when the children of Israel had worshipped the golden calf which Aaron had built. The Lord was going to wipe them out, but because Moses interceded on their behalf the Lord repented. It says, in Exodus 32:14, “And the Lord repented of the evil which he thought to do unto His people.” What exactly did God do when it says He repented? He changed His mind. And what does an unbeliever do when he repents? He changes his mind. Instead of thinking that the way to be accepted by God is through his efforts, he must change his thinking and believe the way to be accepted by God is by faith alone in the risen Savior. That is biblical repentance!
So now when you see a passage like Acts: 3: 19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. You will know the repent here means CHANGE YOUR MIND...NOT FEEL SORROW FOR SIN.
    GOD BLESS YOU ALL :)

Jesus started his preaching with the message of repentance, Mattew 4:17 “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, repent: for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” He did not die on the cross for us to continue sinning but rather to clean us from our sins to become a ‘BORN AGAIN’ . In 2Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” The Bible says again in 2Peter 2:20 and 22 “ If they have escaped corruption of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and are again entangled in it and are overcome, they are worse of at the end than they were at the beginning “ and the verse 22 continues “ Of them the proverbs are true: A dog returns to its vomit, and A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud.”
REPENTANCE means you stay away from sin, the things that you used to do when you were an UNBELIEVER. If you’ve accepted Christ as your personal savior, then you have to believe in him and his word. REPENTANCE is not only about the law. Because the law became the knowledge of sin eg. people were doing their burnt offerings and performing their vows to the Lord, yet some were committing fornication, some adultery and all kinds of secret sins. And some of them thought they were righteous because they were following the law, but God deemed everyone as a transgressor, those of the law and the rest of the world because everyone was sinning either openly or secretly. Romans 3: 23 “For all have sinned, and come short to the glory of God.” And Roman 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” And in 2Corinthians 5:15 “ And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.” In Luke 6:46 Jesus said “And why Call ye me, Lord, Lord and do not the things which I say?.” The Bible says in 1Corinthians 6:9-11 “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the Kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the Kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God.” BELIEVERS OF CHRIST have crucified the ‘old person’ and it’s sinful desires. If you truly believe in him, and truly have faith in him, then you will obey what he says and stay away from sin, as he told the woman in the Bible who was caught in adultery,John 8:11 “ Go and sin no more.”

If someone isn’t repentant of their sins then do they truly have their faith in Christ? It isn’t to say that you won’t sin anymore, but if you aren’t actively trying to turn from sin and patterns of sin haven’t changed in your life then don’t deceive yourself by thinking you are saved when you are not, it will be the biggest mistake with eternal ramifications.

Todd is not saying that we are saved by repenting of sins. The Gift God gives to His Elect is Faith by His Grace that results in salvation. Faith is the Noun and Believing is the verb. Paul says that Godly sorrow leads to repentance. Eph. 2:10 says that the saved are His workmanship, created unto good works which he before ordained that we should walk in them. Zacheus repented and restored fourfold to them he had taken from. This is Godly repentance. Jesus identified him as one of His Sheep and went to his house. Dead Men do not go seeking for Christ. They must be drawn by the Father through the Holy Spirit to have Faith in His Son. This is the New Birth. When the Holy Spirit quickens us, the seed of God is in us, and the Inner Man or spirit man cannot sin because His seed remains in us. But the Outer Man will sin and will die out over most of our lifetime until we at His coming are changed into our immortal bodies. The Christian struggle is what Paul describes in Romans 7. And if Christ is in us by God's Choice of Election (not man's choice), there remains no more condemnation. Our hearts have been changed and God's law is not on tablets of stone but on the fleshy tables of our hearts. It is true we are not saved by our behavior, but the Inner Man's desire is to be more like Christ. When man thinks he chose God by his choice of Free Will there will be no Godly repentance because in essence, Self has saved Self. There is No Inner Man. And the use of "Free Will" will lead some to believe that their Behavior must be changed to maintain salvation. And this repentance of the world leads to death.

In Luke 13:1-5 Jesus also preaches that without repentance you will perish. Our faith is not in the law, nor is our justification, but if you have faith that Jesus suffered for you, then how could you not repent? Conversely, if you don't repent, how can you say you have faith? Jesus makes it clear. There is salvation in Him, and there is damnation in a lack of repentance. Jesus preached it, so should we

Shawn confuses belief for a living faith by asking how one with faith can choose not to repent. They are not the same thing, just as either are not a work. Many have faith and give in to temptation and leave God completely. Even the demons believe.

The law works like a mirror, it tells us we are sinners. We are not saved by the law but it is a reflection of our sin. If I don’t turn away from sin, my heart has not been changed by My Lord Jesús Christ.

Ephesians 1:13," In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit". As Christians we SHOULD have a significant change in our lives, but we all move at a different path in our sanctification process. Some people also have some really difficult things to work through and overcome. The Christian walk and salvation are seperate. Salvation=free gift. Christian walk (discipleship)=costly

  • @toglorifyGod1

    Jesus said repent or perish.
God even said it...Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
    Acts 17:30 NKJV
And in the book of Jonah it clearly said......So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not? And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
    Jonah 3:5‭, ‬9‭-‬10 KJV
So yes faith in God came first then repentance came after. If they didn't turn from their evil ways God obviously was going to destroy them.
Edit: there is a difference between works and obedience & there is a difference between the law & faith. Two of them are with Jesus & the other two are without.
We are saved by grace through faith alone & free of the law but we still uphold the law. We still obey Jesus' commandments, we still abide in him. If we love him we obey him. We can't love him then eventually obey him if we don't believe in him first. Its all a domino effect.

  • @lawrence1318
    @lawrence1318 7 месяцев назад

What most Christians, including Mr. Friel, don't understand, is that in Christianity a work is not simply defined as doing something, but as doing something of our own volition rather than God's volition ... doing something voluntarily rather than according to irresistibility.
So if my repentance is a product of my own will, it is a work of the law and thus unacceptable to God. In order for anything apparently done by me to not be classified as a work, it must be done irresistibly, which is to say, it must be done in me by God and God alone.
Accordingly, repentance does not consist of my changing my mind about God, but of my having my mind changed by God, by the Holy Spirit, so that I am then said to have the mind of Christ.

Repentance means turning to God. Which means turning from sin. We will still sin because we aren’t perfectly Holy, like our Savior. To live in willful sin isn’t biblical. The law shows us our sin and the need for a Savior. So, we recognize we are sinful. We should be sorrowful for our sin, the Holy Spirit convicts us. We then turn to the Savior and put our faith and trust in Him. Turning to the savior means turning from our other idols (false religion, greed, lusts, etc.). To say repentance and turning from sin isn’t part of the gospel is false. Matt 3:8, 1 John 1:9, 2:3-6, Acts 2:38, proverbs 28:13

    • @bobphillips3387
      @bobphillips3387 Год назад

Who is saying living in willful sin is biblical?? Turning from sin is a huge part of the Christian walk, but it has nothing to do with salvation.
Our Christian walk is an up and down road, but God promises eternal security once you believe.
If repentance means Turning from sin, then humanity is screwed! How much Turning? Whats the line between "just stumbling" and sinning to much that you were never really saved?
Repentance is a change of mind

    • @troy4544

@bob. - yeah a change of mind turning to God and forsaking sin. We won’t be perfect, sanctification is a process. He will turn away from his false faith.
