I never did pick up on cersei's conversation about "The Rains of Castamere." I also never remembered that Jamie actually said to give Robb his regards. I thought Roose was mainly talking about Tywin/Cersei/Joffrey.
    Very good video.

all events: losing jaime because of his stupid mom, losing theon(big oof), breaking frey oath, losing renly to stannis(big oof), not having brienne be his king's guard, beheading karstark, teaming up with a bolton.

In the Starks defense, the Freys would have betrayed them anyway. They’re cowards hiding behind walls. They don’t fight for a losing site. Specially The Late Walder Frey.

@@SockAccount111 not really. The Boltons were never a good house. I've been watching House of the Dragons and surprisingly made me read the books. The Starks and the Boltons had been rivals for centuries. But no house in the North can challenge the Starks as they have one of the largest armies in the North. The Boltons only moved to Winterfell when they found out what happened to the Starks but when the Starks were alive nobody can truly challenge them in the North. The Boltons were always known for being betrayal just as the Freys. I'm not surprised that the Starks ancestors never destroyed the House Bolton in the recent years when they had the chance. The Starks have always been the ones with "honor." but unfortunately, that had all of them killed and even their house almost don't exist anymore. The Starks in GoT, were literally only Arya, Sansa, and Bran. I wish the Starks nothing but the best in the future.

You compare a Warlord General to a fictional general.
Hannibal is remembered for its great victories but in reality most of his victories were mediocre wins. AS a good general he was he did not see the power he was dealing with. Rome would had won regardless if we beat them in every battle. Rome was already the superior power, while carthage was just a shadow of what it had the potential to be.

@@mr.newman2318 Agreed. Hannibal didnt lose because his wins were pyrrhic or mediocre, he lost because the Merchant Aristocracy of Carthage failed to support him and provide supplies and reinforcements, leaving his army in rags. His strategy of winning over the country also backfired, as most towns resisted him and refused to switch sides. If he had went for Rome directly, he might have stood a chance, but by a certain point he was out of options, and the Romans with Fabius evaded battle and just wore him down with attrition until he was forced to return to Carthage. I believe @Praetoria07 is being a bit romantic with his notions.

If Rob killed jaime, his sisters would die. Even if it was labeled as an "accident" or "died in battle," the assumption (no matter how type or false) would be that Rob killed him purposely and therefore Robs sisters would be in danger of death. The best thing to do was to keep Jaime as hostage because he's worth way more than anyone else. Tywin would have made sure of that.

Cersei basically threatened Margaery with the story of the Rains of Castamere and unfortunately Margaery did not take it seriously enough. So the Tyrells ended up just like the Rains - wiped out by the Lannisters. Three of them blown to smithereens by Cersei, Olenna poisoned by Jaime, their army destroyed and house dismantled and pillaged to the last gold coin. Or as the kids say these days - brutality. 😢

I think rob did mistakes ,a lot of mistakes first was asking renly for help rather than stannis baratheon who was true hier after Robert and he was a great battle commander also and this is what ned wanted. So he didn't carry forward the honour of house stark. Second was marrying the nurse, he broke a vow . Third was beheading lord karstark for killing Lannister boys because in war a lot of innocent get killed he should have spared karstark .and i also think rob was a little selfish because he spared his mother for releasing jamie which is bigger treason than killing two Lannister, whatever happened to him was because of his own selfishness, foolishness and wrong decisions.

Winterfell was taken by Theon afterwards Ramsay, the reason Robb lost the war was due to internal conflicts. It’s easy to point out Talisa/Jeyne and claim she was the reason he lost the war but it wasn’t. Once Catelyn freed Jaime they lost their bargaining chip the heir to Casterly Rock THAT was the moment they started losing. Robb also was the only living male Stark left that the Lannister knew of, its easier for the Boltons to betray one Stark and have a new warden of the North then it is to kill 3 each one would’ve rallied a new army against them. Once Robb was dead at a wedding or in battle they needed a new warden to the North regardless, Roose Bolton saw fit to betray Robb and seat himself there, executing Rickard Karstark admittedly did not help matters either.
