Oh for goodness' sake, Robert's Rebellion was never a "lie". Stop parroting the bad writing of D&D and do some research. The rebellion started for LEGIT reasons and FACTS. No one "lied" about anything. And no, it wasn't started over Lyanna's abduction. It started over the MAD KING's reaction over the Lyanna situation.

Also Robert would NEVER lie about this, and most of all, he wouldn't have stopped hunting him down. Stop coping. He's long dead. KILLED by Robert, and that's a fact. And GRRM himself said that he was killed fair and square by Rhaegar. So you can spare us those biased Targcel tears.

No, he doesn't. His character is awful. Robert, Ned, and other better characters deserve a series. Even the ironborn deserve one instead of Rhaegar. Rhaegar deserves absolutely nothing.

Civilians were put to the sword by Hoster Tully for this conflict between nobles, and as much as I don't like their house, even the child Targaryens ended up paying for Rhaegar and Lynna's crimes. Even House Connington suffered for it. And if not for Jaime, King's Landing's population would've been added on the list of Rhaegar and Lynana's dead.

Too bad the "esteem" comes from an emotionally biased man, making it worthless. It's like Jaime's bodyguard praising Jaime.

If someone hates your guts or has a neutral opinion of you they are never going to call you "The finest man I ever met" unless it's with sarcasm. There has never been and will never be a person that exists who could look at all of the people they have ever met, and say without emotional bias which of them was the 'finest'. You completely missed the point and made some weird analogy to try to rationalize your shallow perception. It wouldn't be like Jaime's bodyguard praising him - because Jaime's bodyguard is a nameless, faceless pawn. The esteem has value because it comes from probably the greatest living swordsman in the Seven Kingdoms, easily the most decorated knight in the Seven Kingdoms, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard, who served through nearly the entire reign of three seperate kings, squashed the final Blackfyre rebellion when he slew Maelys the Monstrous, singlehandedly saved Aerys Targaryen from capture in Duskendale... He's legendary in every sense of the word.

If Rob killed jaime, his sisters would die. Even if it was labeled as an "accident" or "died in battle," the assumption (no matter how type or false) would be that Rob killed him purposely and therefore Robs sisters would be in danger of death. The best thing to do was to keep Jaime as hostage because he's worth way more than anyone else. Tywin would have made sure of that.

I'll take Robert over him any day. Plus, Rhaegar was a grown man in his mid-twenties, while Lyanna a 14 year old girl. She was meant to marry Robert, who was 18 year old. Nice that you think a married groomer named Rhaegar is better than Robert. Also, "attraction" isn't an excuse to cause a war and the deaths of family members. Rhaegar and Lyanna get 0 sympathy. Elia Martell is the victim, not Lyanna.
