    Half ounce jig head on bottom with white 6 inch gulp fluke and white fluke jig 12 inches up. Weedless hook. Rite in the drop off of the wash. Look for deeper pockets. I'm assuming they hunt just like summer flounder here in jersey

    other side of the beach has a number of species. Can't keep the black sea bass but there incredible fighters on spinning gear and will take a number of plastic lures dropped in their holding zones.

    Few questions? Is there a better time of day for halibut from shore? Early morn or late evening? Is there a better tide? High or low tide? Finally how far are you casting? Im using a 1 oz and a swim bait and casting about 40-60 ft. But the seagrass and waves i figure im only casting into an area of 10-15 ft before its rough due to shore waves. Surf fishing for halibut is not all that easy im finding.

    Any recommendations for rod and reel set ups? Length,? Heavy vs. Med Heavy? XXXL Heavy? lol. as well as what line to use? I really like the drop shot set up, but from what Ive seen the norm seems to be sinker and then a fresh/frozen herring hooked up. I'll also take a link to any videos you have too!

      Something 9ft or longer with a medium heavy or heavy action. Probably something in the 1-5oz lure range will do. Okuma has some excellent surf rods available

    I live in San Francisco, and know I can get some halibut from shore in the bay, however I'd much rather fish in the surf. I've never actually heard of anyone catching them from our beaches this far north. Maybe nobody does it? Have you ever tried it in our area?

    “Gibbs' Rule #9: Never go anywhere without a knife.”
    Started getting into knives a little over a year ago, now I am shock when a person isn’t carrying a knife while fishing.

    • @JesseG085

      I went to a small private K-12 school in the south and in middle school they encouraged us to carry a pocket knife everywhere, even at school.
      The older kids were even allowed to keep their hunting rifles/shotguns in their cars at school if they went hunting before class.
      In case anyone is wondering, no one ever hinted towards using either against anyone at school. It was a different time and place for sure.

    • @billylallen2662
      @billylallen2662 Год назад +4

      My uncles carried their guns to school and after school went hunting. I remember gun racks in trucks and nobody braking into those trucks. We live in a different world, many don’t know there’s been so many changes.

    Hey there. Been following you for a while. Love your videos and I do think you one of a few that actually know what you talking about and also informative and details on your vids. Very helpful indeed. I know it's a unwritten rule among those who fish that they do not blow the spot. I haven't met a person that willing to reveal the location, except me. I personally don't keep secrets. I'm happy to help anyone who has passion about this sport as much as me. I never worry about people catching most of the fish. I believe if anyone that is willing to put out the effort, they will catch eventually. That does mean if I show the spot and all you need is a rod and reel, it doesn't mean you will be catching. I'm pretty sure that's what fishing is and pretty much how life is. So would you consider listing that info in all your videos from now on so that you can make it difference among all these other fisherman. I'm not calling you out specifically, I'm just be honest and truthful and hope I find a common out here on this platform. You can disagree with me, I'll unsubscribe myself and won't comment again.

      You do realize that there is a HUGE difference between posting yourself catching a fish at a spot with your 10 followers and a person with 80 THOUSAND subscribers, who are mostly from Northern California, posting a spot right???

    • @minhla168
      @minhla168 Год назад

      @@HideshiIzu I do understand your points. Can we be different? Can we create a close net and loving fishing community where we can all share and spread the love of the spot. In reply to your comment, If i can make 80 thousands followers’ day, I wouldn’t hesitate. My return is to see/put someone on a fish. It makes me just as happy because i made a difference at that moment. It doesn’t always have to be me all the time bro, I’m just as happy and excited to see another fisherman catching. This is just my point of view. I hope we can find a common in this community where we can really enjoy and relax.
