I speared a halibut there back in the late 90's...fun spot for sure, just make sure you understand the perils of shore break if you are new to ocean activities.
Kinda of dicey to shoot halibut unless you know it is over 22” once shot you can’t release it if it is short. Also it’s pretty hard to measure before shooting. I did like you scouting that area I used to snorkel there years ago. Now I am just fishing . I am going to try surf fishing for halibut and ares like that may be good. I have been targeting them in the two bays with some success but no legal this year yet. A secret time it near grunion runs.
Thanks for the feedback and question. Just like fishing, spearfishing is not a guarantee to catch fish. I'll keep your feedback in mind for future content.
Nice video I subscribed… been a few years since I’ve been out have you seen any sea urchin problems like they are having in Northern California lately? Been a few years since I’ve been out be safe out there
The "Bottom Scratchers" cleared ALL of this area out in the 50's n 60's...😂 Abalone, Halibut, Lobster the lot.. Halibut are tricky to get anyway, how do you know if it's 22" BEFORE you shoot? Plus, you miss, you Fu$$ up your spear tip.
Thanks for the question. Likely not since the current and tides pull things to deeper water beyond the break. The sand is also constantly changing there and a strong possibility they are buried once a few days go by.

thats why you don't shoot unless you're sure its legal. I'm sure I've passed on plenty that were 22 - 23"
WTF, Why post a halibut hunting video with no halibut?

Could you find my car keys near black beach?

I’m still looking for my GoPro3 lost at Fletcher Cove in 2019. It’s either at TableTops or the reefs in Del Mar by now. 😅
