How cool to see Taos again! My uncle is buried in that cemetery...so true, it’s off the beaten path in so many ways!
He owned a legendary toy store for many years on Kit Carson Blvd; my cousin now has an art/furniture gallery in the same space.
Can totally see why Dennis Hopper chose Taos to “get away from it all,” it’s gorgeous there!

I would have to disagree,I liked him but he always a James Dean obsessive and copyist,he had no acting style of his own like Dean.,who admittedly was a copyist of Marlon Brando and Montgomery Clift but brought something uniquely his own to the table.

That was really enjoyable....thank you for doing this! I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1993 while working security in a night club he, I believe, co-owned with Sean Penn. I remember him as being a perfect gentleman, gracious and polite. Again, thank you for another awesome tour.

Dennis Hopper was kind of a "Rebel without a Cause" fighting with the Studios. Man that was unfortunate. He was a great actor. He was the bad guy in Water world. For some reason, I liked that movie. I never knew that about "The Sons of Katie Elder" and the problems they had with him. Love that movie as well. What a great actor. The Mud Palace is something else. Thanks as always.

Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper, "Go to sleep, everything is alright."

Another Willie and Dennis story. Around the time of Easy Rider filming, Hopper won some LSD in a poker game. Later that night he walking down the street and had a bad trip. He shot up a few trees with his pistol thinking he was being attacked by some creature. After being arrested, Nelson drove thru on the way to Vegas for a show and bailed him out and took him to Vegas. Hoppers infamous mug shot was from that incident. Hopper was one unique individual.

Jordan, I'm curious about Dennis Hopper, for I know so little about him, except for Easy Rider. It's about time, I find out more. Well I'll be darn, I have seen more of his films but he was younger. I never bothered to find out his name, for I only knew who the leads were, when I was young at the theater. Traveling outward from his unique burial site, I find myself blown away by The Mud Palace. I love this place.
