  • After flying the Rotor Riot Skylite for about a year, I decided that it was time to try a new 3.5-inch drone. My Grinderino build was planned out as a freestyle drone that would never need to carry an action camera, because of the O3 air unit and would fly on 4S or 6S. I was also trying to hit an all-up weight of 300ish grams and I hit that spot on!

    Thanks Nate. I love my Grinderino on 4S/850s. It flys great with 1404/3000kv. I tried T-Motor 2004/3000kv but they were a little too heavy and I get 2-3 more minutes of flight time with the 1404s.

      Sick! I have found the same, 16mm motors seem like the maximum before they get too heavy and bulky. I am seeing about 5-7min from the 1506 rcinpower motors, also 3000kv. Great feel on 4s, really spicy on 6s! What 1404s are you running?

    This guy talks about how quiet it is and is generous enough to do a fly by so we can get a feeling for the noise level, then proceeds to make sound effects so we can't hear the motors :P haha thanks for the video I was wondering if an o3 would fit with this frame. Did the TPU camera mounts come with it?

      I can't help myself sometimes 😭 . This building is shockingly quiet. The sound almost disappears when it is 20ish feet away . And yes, i have an O3 in there. The frame is still generally visible, and so are the props. If you are going to go with an AIO, the speedybee 35a is about as big as you can go without the O3 and the AIO touching.

    Hi Nate, great video. Love all your content. Had a quick question. I noticed you have your MBPS at 50 in your OSD. I have the Goggles 2 with TBS Tango 2 and Nano RX Immortal T setup. My MBPS is no higher than 35ish. I'm new to FPV, and it's my 1st build. Would you know if that's normal for my setup? Thx in advance. #keeprippin 🤙🏽

      Thank you, and as for the video issue, I may have an answer. If you're in manual mode for selecting your VTX channels and band, and you are seeing reduced output, there are three things that I have found to cause this issue. the first is a damaged antenna. I had O3 antenna that was split in half that I didn't notice, it was locked to about 35, even when close by, I replaced it and then everything was fine. Second, if you have audience mode turned on, or it may be called broadcast in goggles 2, for some reason that limits the output even if you're running on 40 megahertz (or whatever they call 50 megabit per second mode in goggles 2). The last and most niche, I have had my goggles sit in 30 megabits when I had the DJI fly app on a tablet plugged in. I don't think this is always the case, because I've gotten 50 megabits per second with the app connected, but it is worth a look. I'm assuming this is not the issue, but I have had 35 megabits per second locked when flying indoors near a Wi-Fi router. That may have been coincidence, but it did happen.

      @@Nathan_Adams1st, thank you so much for taking the time to help me. You just solved my issue! My broadcast mode was set to on. One more question if you could. I don't have the battery voltage in my OSD the way I see yours. Is that an easy fix?

    • @Nathan_Adams
      @Nathan_Adams  11 месяцев назад

      @@DannyFPV7 you are very welcome. As for your battery voltage, does it give an incorrect reading or does it say N/A? If incorrect voltage is reported, that may be an issue with your air unit or flight controller. I am going to assume it is not showing voltage or showing N/A, and the cause is normally one of two things, either the Uart that your air unit is connected to is not set correctly to MSP (it is the first column of drop-down boxes in Betaflight on the ports tab), or you have an issue with your RX and TX wires from the air unit to your flight controller. I have soldered them backwards once or twice when building (RX to RX and TX to TX, instead of RX to TX and TX to RX which is the correct orientation). I check MSP is enabled in Betaflight for your Uart that the air unit is connected to and check that your wiring is correct.

    Hey Nate, do you think a RunCam Link or Vista would fit better than the 03? Think it would still be tight?

    • @Nathan_Adams
      @Nathan_Adams  10 месяцев назад +1

      The rear end probably wouldn't make a big difference, since the Vista has the 03 air unit are about the same size. Depending on the camera you use with the Vista, you're going to have a lot more space in the front end of the frame.
