You always cover all the bases on questions.. extremely thorough.
It's fast that's probably a good time flying thanks for all the info every question I thought of you answered before I look up the specs thanks for always keeping us up to date 👍
Very nice I really like the new battery and antenna technology.
Great review covering everything that would be questionable.
Thanks Captain
Thanks Steve for the awesome video. Also you retro intros.....are the best. Love em.
Cool! Glad to hear you enjoy them.
Beautiful in the snow ⛄️
Oh yeah 😂😁.. this will be a top seller and a great FPV drone.💯👍😀
Hi Steve My friend. Hope you had a great day. Thank you so very much and may God bless you all everyday 🙏. Have a great week everyone
Thank you
I am impressed with this little craft. Soon, once I get going on my next project I will be looking for an ariel camera like this.
Being a newbie I fully understand your advice on moving slow with the various flight actions. Outdoors only for my needs anyhow.
Thanks for your video work, keep them coming.
Also you made this drone look great, the opening scene with that glow fx is epic:) Looks like a better option than avata for the battery option alone add the -250g :)
Keep up the great work! I have been very happy with my purchases!
Excellent Tutorial Video, and Excellent FPV Drone. Thank You Steve.
I lolled at your flightpath-LOVED THE SKILL CPT!!❤😂❤😂❤
Steve really knows his audience so well. I feel so laser-targeted in this video :D
This little one looks great, sir!
THANK YOU I WAS WAITING ON A REVIEW ON THIS!
Very interesting, thanks Steve 👍😃
Thanks for the heads up on this Steve. I might have to order one!
Thanks capt, I hope to have one of these next!
Impressive! Great review as usual
Now that was a cool opening 😀
THis is so amazing keep it up!
Always great information

Thanks for another great review and thank you for the stickers you sent me
Awesome! Glad the stickers arrived.
I really like the way you explained in your videos
Thank you
Nice job once again
Another great review
Nice set up
Really nice footage
Thank you for sharing sir steve
Thanks Captain for posting; have been trying to decide which "serious" FPV to buy as at this stage, its not "my thing" so want to get it right!; great option and very tempting as it has the DJI Camera!; as an aside loved your Wife's "KIA" launch pad !!!!!
Shhhhhhh.... Don't tell my wife
I myself am a newb and I definitely appreciate you using the radio because I have 0 knowledge of transmissions and GHz and all that stuff when it comes to RCs lol
I have a very helpful video on the subject coming out this week.
Found how to now so all good, thanks.
Nice useful review!
Thankyou very much captain drone Mrs mercury and myself just got our stickers in the mail right now in newzealand! Yewww:)
Great to hear that they arrived!
Great vid Cap
i am in love😍😍😍
Nice review Capt👌🏼
Good afternoon captain really nice view cool review
I’m currently paying off an AVATA from a friend and I haven’t even had the chance to fly it since buying it. I did have a fly when my friend owned it and loved it, that’s why when I got the offer from my friend I jumped at the chance to get it. If I had the money I’d definitely be thinking about getting this smaller one though, just for flying around people that might be annoyed with the sound of the AVATA. It looks good.
The AVATA is a beginner DJI Drone, kinda like a DJI Mavic, so you or your Grandma could fly it without issue. It does have a MANUAL mode so that you can feel what it is like to fly Pro FPV and it gets you close to that but most AVATA users crash & destroy their AVATA learning to fly in MANUAL mode. The IFLIGHT DEFENDER 25 has no beginner modes so any Beginner trying it will crash it many times learning to fly. Since you are a newbie with the AVATA, I would fly it until you feel comfortable flying in MANUAL mode, and then you could easily fly drones like the IFLIGHT DEFENDER 25 and experience the difference.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 I should have said that I also fly fpv drones as well, I like the AVATA’s abilities to be both an fpv and cinematic drone in the one. Yes, it isn’t a true aerobatic drone but it is a good compromise between the two types. Thanks for the reply captain, I know exactly what you mean and appreciate your reply.
Good afternoon really cool video nice review
Great review Captain Drone, very interested in the Defender 25 as I already have the Avata & it seems like a good next step into fpv proper. It might even break my addiction to DJI products lol.
My first was the DJI FPV drone and I thought it was the best thing ever, but I must say the entire world of FPV opened up to me once I starting flying Betaflight quadcopters. There is so much more out there than what DJI is offering at such a better price. You'll never look back! - I've got a whole wall of quadcopters now, but honestly the one I fly and enjoy the most is a simple little 3 inch freestyle quad perfect for doing flips and race gates around the backyard.
@@daniel.pendzich what is the three inch drone you speak of?
Not telling you what to do of course, but I agree with Daniel Pendzich- get a 3" or 5" freestyle with the 03 system since you already have the Avata for cinematic stuff. I have the defender with the previous camera system, but don't have an Avata. It does ok for freestyle, but not like an open prop that is made for more acrobatic movement. Ignore this if you are only interested in slow, cinematic flying.
You might be right to get a 3" sub-250g freestyle with O3 will have to have a think before I get another one.
@@marcsangiuliano4273 I got the dragon frog frame kit on Amazon for like 25 bucks, then built the 3 inch from spare parts, I'd assume it flies similar to the baby ape pro, but I put a vista in mine. It flies beautifully on a 3s lipo!
Great video
I’m really tempted to get this lol so have the Protek 35 digital 6s but I barely fly it 😅
The thing that will make me Love it is 8 minute or greater flight time indoors with good penetration through multiple walls and floors
Thats a great video 🤩
Thank you 😁
Looking at some of your earliest content... like the Yuneec Typhoon, you were SO SERIOUS! Amazing to see you develop along with your channel, and it's obvious you have some fun while showing folks drones, RC vehicles, occasionally some great goofy things like the Flappy Bird ornithopter last year😉
Transition: Serious Geek 🤓 (boo) --> fun, yet edumacational geek 🤓 (YAY!)
Thanks. When I get bored I'll watch one of my old reviews and wonder... Who is that guy?
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 indeed! The transformation is complete!
Nice video GOD BLESS !!
I'll be honest Steve? I've haven't tried any of those FPV's drones no matter what company? But that little FPV looks awesome?
Maybe one of these days I'll try it out? I'll try and buy the cheapest one possible just to crash it into a wall, or tree or something like that?
Thanks again for sharing Steve. 👍👍👍
The FPV hobby is one of those hobbies that most GPS Camera Drone pilots eventually get into (like myself). I have to warn you though... once you get into it, you're hooked for life and your heart rate will increase every flight.
The USB-C/microSD card slot also looks more accessible than the Avata. I wonder how a GoPro would mount tilted with the proprietary battery as opposed to a third-party battery. Thanks!
I really want to like this drone but the battery bothers me. How am I supposed to know if the lipo is swelling? Also to fix the prop guard you have to replace the whole bottom plate. I do love the flight time and flight characteristics, but the cons have me leaning towards the cinelog20. What do you think?
cool music :)
Nice review Steve. Kind of neat it can be below the 250 gram......👍
Yup, that is a hugh benefit
Great!!!
I love your little blue Kia it’s cute 😃
That's my wife's ride... She certainly enjoys it.
There's two new Defender.
Denfender 16 and Defender 20
Would love to see a review from your channel 😁
This looks great I think k I'd rather have this then the AVATA!! Pretty quick too! Steve I just got the cinilog 35 performance 6s....it amazing. Thanks for the STICKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR WIFE ROCKS!!!! SO DO U....
Awesome! Glad the stickers arrived.
Definitely on my must buy for 2023!! Any chance you can do a video on how to bind the dji remote and goggles to the defender?
No video required because it is so simple. Just ensure both are on the same firmware, then press the link button on the drone, then press the link button on the goggles.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 please e..can you make an small video how to bind with dji? 🙏🙏🙏🙏
A nice giveaway for 2023. Keep smiling
I like it
Amazing video!!! How many minutes do you get with the 1100mAh?
*"rapid prototyping"* is creating some absolutely amazing product in the pure BEV market at *INCREDIBLY NO LONG COSTLY PRICES* at the moment very much spot on with that to include imaging solutions and some really amazing bells and whistles now too absolutely true dat as well.
Sad to see how these items are being used as an entirely new type of fighting War but one side effect is that this be the case turns off many to the drone market driving prices in some cases *MUCH* lower but also increasing quality and the fun factor to start creating a right proper and hopefully true as in real as good image for these now in Ukraine anyways *TRULY* literal killing machines.
Be interesting to see how Artificial Intelligence starts to impact this market such that the item basically *"flies itself"* using preset cinematic modes which in theory anyways would create some truly amazing *"film"* (digital) product... especially as a kind of *"sport model"* too/as well/in addition/best just got better.
Great review as always!
Great review!, so refreshing to see a new quad being able to use off the shelf batteries again. Super cool quad. Any thoughts on doing a review on the walkera t210 ?. Its seems the Nintendo switch of drones.
I will have to take a look at that one.
In angle mode it’s the same speed as in acro, tried it and that’s my findings. Love your shows.
It should be faster in ACRO mode than ANGLE due to the angle of forward tilt.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 agreed but in angle mode the camera is max tilt and the angle of forward motion is the same as acro and if u go anymore in acro it flips over. Try next time u fly and see what u think.
@@enlightened9538 I have not tried this quad head to head in speed while in different modes, but all other quads over many years of use are all much slower in Angle mode.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 yes I would agree for sure, but I feel this one is different. Hence me saying u should try and see what u think. But I’m not professional like your self, but would love your opinion if u do try. Thanks again for all your replies.
Dying to see this thing finally it's here love to see more big stuff like rumors about inspire 3 wants your views on that
I mentioned in a previous video I have zero desire to buy the INSPIRE 3. I have a $12,000 INSPIRE 2 and I won't make that mistake again. Perhaps a make a video of this in the future.
I might be missing something really obvious here but how do you attach a battery strap to it?
that is typically what the digital antennas look like inside the plastic, so they decased it to fit inside the frame, clever.
Great review as always Steve , it confuses me how the heavy dji AVATA or Atleast heavy compared to this but it seems the avata has better battery life . I like the look of this one but I need to go on a sim first unlike the avata . I’ve not checked prices but I’m guessing this a lot cheaper that they Avata .
The AVATA was designed for people who fly the DJI MAVIC drones. It uses GPS and position hold and bottom sensors so that even your grandma could fly it. If you put the AVATA into full MANUAL mode, the stability sensors are still active so that they can rescue the beginner pilot if they get into trouble. All of this adds a pile of weight. It also makes the AVATA not fly like a common FPV drone.
If you get the defender 25 with the DJI gps and controller 2. Will the drone have the restrictions same as the Avata. Will not turn on if near an airport for example/ Thanks for the great review, I think I'll get one if there are no flight restrictions.
Currently there is no such thing as DJI no fly zones in the FPV hobby
Now I am curious, having purchased the FPV last year. I see on the the IFlight site you can specify 'no additional receiver, I use the DJI FPV Remote Controller 2" What if your local hobby shop doesn't stock this configuration, can you use the ELRS or do you need to order direct?
Watch my video entitled CAPTAIN DRONE FPV FOR BEGINNERS EP 12.
we really need someone to produce a good prop guard soon that plastic doesn't look like it can take a big hit neverminded the weight restriction , also wished someone showed a Gopro mounted on and flew with it
@@ohplease3327 OgDobo is going to rip them a new one , from what I gather this drone missed the mark a tad bit, but that is even subjective because its sole purpose was to be a decent flyer and under 250G not for it to be an Avata JR
When DJI came out with the 03 system, it was for the purpose of making the FPV drones lighter and no longer using a GoPro. I did a comparison of a GoPro Hero 11 and the DJI 03 system in my review of the iFlight 6" Evoque 03. I can't keep doing the same thing in every review.
Neat little drone. Would be good as a winter play around the house and goofing off outside. My only compliant is I don't see you putting any other camera on it.
No need for an external camera due to the high quality DJI O3 system built in.
has a mount for a gopro naked you can just feed off a standard 4s balance port adapter. the o3 air unit is all you need anyway
So if I were to buy a tiny whoop with a DJI O3 air unit. I can use the DJI controller 2 and gogs if I get PNP?
Yes, but you'd better watch this video first: ruclips.net/video/zPf9b-X6cFw/видео.html
Would the sub 1 ghz ELRS receiver option help with flying in places with lots of interference?
Yes, it would be better than the basic DJI comms.
Can you test the toroidal propellers?
i don't have the LEDs on my one?
This is interesting to me. I’ve been looking at kits to build my own quad, but this appeals to me if I decide to go with the dji goggles. I’ve ordered an Express LRS controller. What I’m wondering is if the Commando 8 ELRS model of this drone is compatible with the controller that I’ll be using. I guess I’m also just wondering generally if there different ELRS 2.4 GHz protocols. When I ordered the controller I thought it was going to work with a lot of systems but now I’m wondering if I’ll need to add modules for different drones.
2.4 ELRS is the most common and popular and every ELRS radio that is 2.4 will work with the receivers. The only stipulation is that the firmware on the radio and the receiver must be compatibe, so if you are running version 3 on the radio, you also need version 3 on the receiver.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 Awesome. Thanks !
dji avata "mini" under 250g... coming to your nearest dji stores soon... 😉
If DJI could make an UNDER 250 GRAM FPV drone, that would be awesome!
Passando pra prestigiar aquele super Like Tmj ✌️ 👍 ✌️
Quick question Captain, is there an HD module for analog goggles to connect to the Defender or it only works with the DJI goggles?
If you want the DJI O3 Air unit in the drone, then it only connects to the expensive DJI FPV goggles
Great video Steve! Would you recommend this quad over the GepRC cinebot30 o3 6s drone?
This is recommended for those who want a small size drone, smaller than the cinebot 30 with DJI O3. This quad shines if you have the entire package with the propretary batteries for weight and quick change. The cinebot 30 with DJI 03 is also an excellent FPV drone.
class review
Thank you for watching
Hey Cap! New FPV enthusiast here! So two months ago i bought the avata, enjoyed the heck out of it. Long story short, loved the feeling of acro mode w/ the visual capability of what the avata offers...but i crashed it during a dive freefall due to that weird yaw tumble. What would you recommend to someone who wants a drone thats acro-capable but also has camera quality that could rival the avata without a go pro?
The Avata camera is the DJI O3 system which is available for any FPV drone. You can also buy such FPV drones from all the big name FPV companies (I believe I have reviewed pretty much all of them). Just watch any of my FPV drone reviews made in the past 5 months with drones with a DJI camera. Also watch my FPV FOR BEGINNERS EPISODE 12 video so you know how to set them up.
Hey! If i get the crossfire version can i still bind it to my FPV remote controller v2 from DJI and switch to a crossfire remote later once i feel like upgrading to TBS Tango?
Unfortunately the answer is Nope for people new to the RC hobby as significant knowledge is required. Now if you were in the FPV RC hobby and super familiar with how everything works, then yes it could be done.
What are the default PID tune settings in Betaflight for the Defender 25??? I am looking everywhere for what the defaults are supposed to be... i think i might have lost the default config ta some point in testing... i flight still has yet to get back to me...
if i could even get a screenshot or something linked that would be amazing! I just wanna get the settings back to stock :/
Iflight did eventually get back to me about this. They have a copy of the default settings they sent me.
So if you had a Ar Drone what would do to mod it or any one in the comments any recommendations
Yeah I still have original A.R 2 drone still in box new but don’t want it wifi n I’m sure camera and flight board outdated recommendations to upgrade maybe even motors I still like the style of it n want to keep
It says on the website that they come standard with GPS in the list of changes. Unless I misinterpreted what I was reading.
Per the change log on the product page: "May 31, 2023: Defender 25 4S HD BNF comes with GPS installed by default."
I've been looking at the Avata for months now. But it just can't flip and spin and quickly and safely as this one. I know it's not a freestyle drone, but you can still do some decent freestyle with it. It freestyles better than the Avata from what I've seen, even though that's not necessarily the purpose.
If you can fly an FPV drone then this is a great drone. If you have no FPV Pilot skills, stick with the AVATA.
Great review and thanks for making such a detailed video! Would you say the iFlight Defender 25 is a better choice for strictly interior (real estate) flights than the GepRC Cinelog 25 v2?
For interior you'd have to be an amazing pilot to fly such large drones. For indoors most people stick with 1.5" or 2" FPV drones, and the odd 2.5", but rarely every a 3" drone, simple due to the amount of power in such a confined space (you gonna mark up them walls & ceiling really bad).
Thanks for the info! Sounds like the Defender 16 or Cinelog 20 may fit my needs a bit better. Would you recommend one over the other for interior-only flights?
Hello and thank you for the review!
Is this drone able to set the cam angle straight to the bottom (90 degree to the floor)?
Best regards 🎉
Nope. It would be impossible to fly FPV if you did that. You’d be staring at the ground and crash into something.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 In this topic I have not much knowledge, so big thanks for the pro instruction :). I thought, DJI Mini 3 is also rather fast drone (maybe about 40% slower but still fast enough to produce nasty crash) and still its camera can be adjusted straight to the bottom. But you are absolutely right, switching cameras at 100 km/h could be difficult, if you wouldn't just keep the position and then switch a view :). Or maybe the FPV and default drone could be compared in the same manner, as normal traffic and rally, where each of the grams counts. Weight impacts the battery. Best regards and have fun with that cute drone :)
Are the included batteries more safe than traditional Lipo? Do they have smart features such as the DJI ones?
Nope, just your basic lipo batteries
Looks very nice for beginners but its very limited components wise. Ill stick to my self build fpv drone 😅
What's a good frame thats similiar in style to this Defender 25 & DJI Avata style layout?
Im looking to build something like this but i dont see any bare frames or kits in this enclosed one piece style..
Also what components are missing that you would consider upgrading parts for?
Also if this is a BNF isnt it not part of remote id as of right now so being under 250grams wouldnt matter or is that not how it works?
Please. Can you say me how I bind with dji transmisor? And must I bind and activate the air unit with dji Googles v2?
- ACTIVATE the DJI 03 unit with the DJI ASSISTANT
- Ensure your GOGGLES and DRONE and REMOTE are on the LATEST firmware
- You bind everything by simply pressing the BIND BUTTON on the DJI 03 system (use a paper clip to push the button). Then bind your V2 Goggles by pressing the BIND button on the Goggles (first make sure you set the goggles to the DJI 03 Transmission.... it's an option in the menu)
- Bind your remote by holding down the power button until it goes into bind mode
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thank you very much! 🙏😘
hi Cap,i just got Defender 25 2 weeks ago with no underneath lights? is empty plug under camera for lighting?
You are not the first to mention this. It seems that when my video was made, that was the newer version coming out. Versions previous did not have the lights underneath. Contact iFlight.
@@CAPTAINDRONE798 thanks Cap’
Your 4S normal battery appeared not to have a long enough battery lead to get CG balanced?
There is no CG in drones or RC Helicopters. The Flight Controller handles balance.
Hi Captain! Great video...forgive me, will this work with the goggles and controller I have for the DJI FPV? The DJI Goggles V2 and the DJI controller 2? Many thanks indeed! 💕💕
Yes
Hi, I’ve looked everywhere and I just can’t find how to bind the dji controller 2 to the defender 25, I’m using v2 goggles, and have correct software installed in all devices, Please advise, really need your help.
To bind the controller, ensure DRONE and CONTROLLER have the latest firmware via the DJI CONSUMER ASSIST software. Then power on remote and plug in battery to drone. After drone stops making the startup noise, then take a paperclip and stick one end into the Button near the green light on the DJI O3 Air unit. Press it in and the light turns red. Next HOLD DOWN the power button on the remote that is already turned on... when you hold the power button down the remote will go into bind mode and start beeping. It takes anywhere from 5 seconds to 1 minute for the two to bind.
Great video sir. Does this quad have altitude hold? Thanks again
There is no altitude hold
