    I do think it is for the most part very well executed overall. On the contrary it is very fragile, as every review that I have seen where it has been decently crashed, the ducts and legs have been broken. The other big thing is the PRICE. Subtract the cost of the air unit and you are paying $330 for a brittle plastic frame, 4 motors, flight controller, and a battery. Doesn’t really add up to me. What is it, maybe $100 cheaper than the Avata without all of the precision GPS and other advanced technology. Of course a lot of that technology can be annoying, but I just don’t feel you’re getting as much for your money. They made a dumb Avata, which is less durable, and are almost charging the same price. I actually might prefer this over the Avata, if it were more durable, but not at that price point.

    Thank you for your view!Betaflight drones have advantages (handling & tuning options) and disadvantages (limited RTH or none, dumb batteries, …)

    Very high standard review, Ian. Thank you.
    There is something however that Avata has that nothing else does - it's the head tracking feature. You can look in any direction and the drone will just keep going straight! This is a futuristic feature that I haven't seen anywhere else.
    To be honest, all iFlight products tend to be of a superior quality, whatever they make - bnfs, fcs, esc, frames... The Defender is no exception - a solid product with great support and always an option to just build that exact model out of the parts available on their web site.

    Thanks for the video. This drone looks like a DJI related, which not what usually FPV go for. If you force me to go for a specific battery that's already a -60%. It may flight well, just don't like the way is offered to the huge FPV public. As always Thanks to IAN for great videos he does for the community.

    Thanks for the great vídeo!! It's being compared to Avata because it's great fancy design. However, don't you think it should be compared to other cinewhoops link the new Cinebot 30 or Cinelogs??

    Mine cracked dropping 18 inches onto concrete.... and another 2 times with other minor bumps. Its a shame the frame is weak .. and even for sub250g .. it is weak. Because it flies incredibly well! And I actually really like the battery ... something satisfying about the click in / out simplicity

    I imagine you could 3d print a sleeve for normal 4S batteries, that hooks into the "claws" the same as iFlight batteries.
    The power switch for the O3 air unit seems convenient, could put it on same switch as prearm, and save some headaches with overheating.

    • @MadRC

    Thanks for the review. This whoop phase has me wondering…what’s with all the whoops lately. They don’t fly as well as open prop and yet it’s what all the noobs start with. I feel like it needs to be said more often, if you need prop guards then a whoop is the tool but it comes at a cost of performance. And if you don’t need a whoop and you want a good flying drone, forget this pos and get an open prop quad.

    The Avata or my mini 3 pro will not turn on near an airport. Will this drone with dji gps and dji controller 2 have those same restrictions, or will it fly right near an airport, with dji setup.

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  5 месяцев назад

      Generally FPV drones line this do not have any NFZ or restrictions like the DJI ones however I will say that it’s never a good idea to fly near any airport so while you could with this you should follow all local laws.

    Thank you for the amazing review!! one question about goggles 2! do you happen to see any dead pixels in goggles 2? I have 5-6 dead pixels in my goggles 2 but are very tiny.. I don't know if it's common and if it's better to return them or live with it as it might be riskier to get an even worse unit..

    How is the price justified? DJI puts out the Avata that for almost the same price has gps, better camera, sensors, etc - and can do things like head tracking. Is this much faster? Is rhe range better? Does it really do something the Avata can't do in manual mode with fpv controller rather than motion controller? Curious..

    hey mads , do you reckon that these iFlight quads are only worth being flown with ELRS or Crossfire? I have a controller 2 and wanted to use it but weary because of all the issues surrounding it. what do you have to say about the matter? any current updates ?

    • @MadRC
      @MadRC  Год назад +1

      Tbh on small quads it’s fine. But anything remotely long range or flying where it may not come back then it’s ELRS or Crossfire. If your just bando bashing or flying where it’s not out of reach then DJI is fine.

    Since this doesn't have all the safety features like the Avata does that mean this won't commit suicide if you make sharp left turns? Mine killed itself after only 16 days of owning it and now I just have the goggles 2 and DJI fpv controller 2. Looking for a better drone then the avata. Could this be an option?
