@@thatoneguyattacobell8118 That's a big understatement the starling is a fantastic dogfighter. the way you would use it is you would slow down just above your opponent getting behind them then quickly boost to catch up with them and bombard them with homing missiles if they have countermeasures just do the same but instead of using homing missiles use your machine gun to slowly chip away at their health. and if your manoeuvre fails and your opponent gets behind oh well just boost they wont be able to catch you

There is a secret to land this plane easily, you can even land on top of ur hangar. Simply slow down when you see the landing spot. Keep slowing down untill it nosedives. Then, try to pull up but dont start the engine. You will land peacefully. Try to maintain low adtitude.

One of my all time favorite planes ... the Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet. The reason it's slow is because it was a glider, not an actual jet. In fact it was launched from a rocket sled that detached, and then the boosters would detach when the fuel was expended. It would then glide from that point till landing. It had light sensors on the top and up-facing rockets so it could fly UNDER allied bombers and shred them from the underside. It was a fascinating aircraft

Yes but in GTA Online it is modeled and performs like a bomber -- it has an internal bomb bay. That wasn't on the komet

Messerschmitt 163. First plane to reach 1000km/h. Though only had fuel for about 7 minutes, I think, in air. It's nose cannon could easily put down a B-17 Flying fortress.
4 years late but i think it would be neat to mention that the fuel was extremely corrosive and literally melted one of the test pilots, the plane would sometimes explode mid flight due to engine issues caused by factory sabotage, the plane was made out of wood and glue and could rip itself apart pulling heavy turns, during taking, the font landing gear would fall off, sometimes it would bounce back and hit the plane, causing damage, and last but not least, landing this plane was extremely dangerous due to the sled landing gear and it would often hurt the pilot.

What we need for bombs are targeting reticules, like in the Ace Combat series. A line that shows what angle they fall at different speeds & a circle that shows where the blast/radius will affect.

The Me-163 was by far the most dangerous Bomber-Hunter of WW2, boasting a flight performance decades ahead of its time and manoeuvrability superior to almost all ww2-era fighters at the disadvantage of being a massive flying bomb which could explode at anytime, while only having about 6 minutes of fuel (which is why it was never used much)
turning it into a slow and cumbersome bomber is a massive inside joke from the part of rockstar
My man took the biggest shit on this aircraft when in reality it’s amazing at everything.
The starling is actually one of the best jets to use in base wars / against sweats because of how its near impossible to hit with any explosive. Me and my mates use it a lot.
One extra thing we found out dude, when in bombing mode and looking down the plane ascends and descends terrain automatically..

Spooky Baron you know that happens with every aircraft when you go into the bombing camera. It’s called auto pilot.
This vehicle is basically an oppressor with longer boost that can recharge in the air with unlimited missile spam, but you have to manage the boost carefully so you are not left vulnerable. It's an incredible glider and can traverse long distance without acceleration.
Its also the only vehicle in the game that can break the out of map sky boundary.
You don't stall when you boost so you can keep boosting up super high above the stall point.
Its good for baiting hydras, fly up super high, wait for hydra to stall then spam homing missiles.
This is also a good kamikaze vehicle so if there is a dirty tryhard in a jet, boost into them lol
One of the better vehicles but not as good as the rogue, which is better than the explosive sniper for taking out hydras and lazers.

Yes it did, there's a reason it's the first ever rocket-powered plane used in combat. And it's first combat flight was in August 16, 1944
the plane saw combat multiple times. the game has added the Type B plane which was a bomber. they where produced well over 350 planes of various models

Youri van Steeg Lol no. The MK108 was a ridiculously weak weapon for a 30mm compared to the MK103 which could break entire ranks in two. The explosions from the hunter hydra and lazer are equivalent to that of a 40mm so I'd say 30mm Minengeschoß shells would be decent.

knowing the history of the Me163 will explain why the handling is different. it was a glider fighter that rocket climbed up to attacking bombers and would kill them and dogfight escorts. then glide back to the airfield. why am i explaining this look it up!
You're explaining it because you like to sound like you know stuff. Just like the other couple hundreds in the comment section jumping all over anyone who dare mention this aircraft without naming it properly.
War thunder is not a basis on real life. The game is not an accurate representation of real life combat tactics, maneuvers, flight models or dogfights. It's realistic, not a simulation. I was talking to Tristan but it applies to everyone, WT is only good for knowledge on basic plane history and information. Don't think that because you play it, it automatically means you know your stuff. Anyone can know the fastest prop planes in WT are the Wyverns and the f7fs etc. Doesn't mean you know the actual fastest prop plane developed in WW2, Do 335 Pfeil is not even mentioned. Dogfighting in WT is comical, nowhere near the real thing... planes can pull off maneuvers that should rip their wings right from the root. Flying with a damaged engine? No way. If a couple cannon shells get into the engine block you aren't just going to have an overheating engine, your cylinders are going to be flying out and your engine exploding into a fireballs. Why are the armor sections in aircraft? That 20mm is going straight through whether you like it or not, no way it will hit the fuselage and just stop. Where is the Spitfires engine drowning when it turns upside down? The P-47 is not faster than the lightning. Small little details add up, the game is definitely one of the most accurate combat flight sims around, but don't confuse it for the real thing.
Look up actual dog fight reels from WW2, then you'll get an idea.
I understand Wyverns aren't the fastest prop planes of WW2, like I said they are marketed in WT as one of the fastest. I hope by movies you mean actual war films, as hollywood doesn't accurately portray dogfighting as it was. I'd say the best dogfighting film currently would be Dunkirk.

I smile everytime I fly it out and I fear no one, you dont even need the flares, the Rogue climbs vertical fast without stalling and that is enough to escape any incoming locking missile, also good to mention is it's tough chassis, capable of hard landings and even cut thorough lamp posts without crashing, best value for money in the air after upgraded - The Rogue, the umbeatable hawk of the sky heights

the me 163 in real life had no landing gear, it would drop its wheels after takeoff and land on a skid. that would explain why the landing gear doesnt go up
It's not a turn fighter, its an energy fighter, you'd win a in a dog-fight every time if you understood that, you could strike from high, nail your target and then use the boost and be gone before they could react

In real life, it didn't even have landing gears, it had some kind of sled-like landing gear, which meant that you couldn't take off, unless you landed and took off on snow or ice.. (To take off, it had a temporarily wheel-support platform that the aircraft were mounted onto, and the pilot could dismount the said platform after takeoff.)
This plane is based off the Me 163, a German Bomber Attack Aircraft that had fuel for five minutes, then glided home.

GTA online is now close to unplayable with everyone just instantly blowing you up for no reason and missions are now close to impossable if there is even one player with a fighter plane.
First the Ground is ruined by the Gunrunning and now we have the Smugglers update that ruins the Air. Whats next a DLC that can ruin the Ocean?
Ikr it's such a shame that solo public lobbies, closed sessions and invite only sessions don't exist...
This is why we need a map expansion DLC. The map is getting too small for all these jets and planes. Another map would make it feel easier and better with more variety between where players are.

You are completely wrong, sir. If your on Xbox One, join the PCEO crew. Every time I join a session with crew members it's a locked public lobby- and there are always guys on standby that are ready if a random joins. Grinded out 50mil in a few weeks with import/export. Also, @liam quinn, there were always people blowing people up for no reason, even before the hydra. You probably weren't around when people in zentornos just ran you over and threw sticky bombs at people- or the buzzards and lazers that were everywhere, or when the rhino tank was overpowered and could kill anything and it took 6 RPGs to blow up.

For bombing, dive down and turn off the boost, slow down as you glide and bomb, open boost and fly high again.
This is one of the best dogfighters in my opinion because it has the best agility and the machine guns are surprisingly strong

The rockets on the oppressor are unlimited
this rocket powered glider is a Hydra and Lazer-Killer. T´he booster allows fast turns and fast climbing. Just fly it like it's real life model. Rockets on full power, plane nose up in the sky and then simply glide towards the planes below you. Quickly kill them with the R4M rockets and fly away with rocket boost.

No worries mate. And yes I did play some War Thunder but never got a high level. I am just generally interested in history and planes I guess. Plus my grandfather was in the Luftwaffe and got trained to fly the Me Bf 109 so there is that interest coming from I reckon

G is to retract gear, E is to boost.
Whquarters Not on console, pressing the left stick is used for both.

This plane is based on the ME-163, a nazi experimental jet interceptor. The ME-163s main purpose was to intercept American bombers with its cannons, not bomb targets. In fact, there wasn’t a bomb bay on the plane. God rockstar! The boost aspect is very realistic because the real life aircraft had only a few minutes of fuel.
Fun fact- the plane didn’t have any wheels. It took off on a sled and landed on its belly.

Leave it to Rockstar to include one of the first Short range Jet intercepters in history, armed with only a couple cannons and few rounds for them, exploded on takeoff half the time and only had 6 minutes of fuel. And suddenly turn it to a Jet that carries enough bombs to make a B29 blush

I think what he's trying to say is that the spawn locations for when you put your Pegasus plane inside your hanger and it turns into a Personal aircraft that you can spawn. Now I've tested this and its similar to Pegasus how it spawns at a "Suitable" location but its not always at an airstrip. Really wish it would spawn next to you like the CEO Abilities with the Vehicles.
francisjairam you are kinda right..but what i really meant was for example i request my aircraft from interaction menu..the plane spawn far away for me..so i wanna know the suitable location for planes to spawn so that i can just get there first and req the plane.
Well I was in Paleto Bay while doing a Cargo mission and I went to Interaction menu on Vehicles and the chose "Request Aircraft" I picked the Hydra and it seems to spawn on the land next to the Ocean which is really weird. I haven't tested it much but it seems to be like if there is like an open field where there is not much around it then it would indicate where the aircraft will spawn but I don't know its odd how it works.
Call Gerald and request a job, when the plane is on the map join the job and quit and it will spawn right next to you on the road

Akkkshully, the real life version of this plane typically had a green top and a light bottom for camouflage from both sides. From the top down you'd blend in with the landscape below, and from the ground up you'd look like a cloud.

It's based on the ME-163 Komet. It was an aircraft designed by the Germans during the last stages of World War 2 as a high altitude High speed interceptor. It is rocket powered because the rocket engine was meant to get up the operating altitude of allied bombers to take out as many as it could before the rocket faded and the plane had to resort to gliding. upon take off the landing gear was ditched completely and if you wanted to land it you had to belly slide it. The fact that is is a bomber is rather silly.
