People like to yell about how slow some of the big departments are when leaving on calls, especially CFD, FDNY, LAcFD, ect., but this video just reinforces the fact that when lives are actually on the line, they can be out the door before you can blink.
Thank you for being First Responder Filmer. I wish Engine had a Emergency Light of some sort in middle top of front cab. Bring back a great ( Federal 184 ) clear doom with Clear Red Amber and a green Lens. That would look so great old school. Wish those Beacon would come back to Fire service.
Chicago Fire Department has green lights on the officer side of their vehicles out of tradition. The new fire commissioner in 1927 (Albert Goodrich) had a family history in the steamship business. He brought the green lights on the starboard side of maritime vessels to the fire apparatuses and even the firehouses themselves - many CFD stations have green and red lights beside the bay doors that line up with the vehicles' lighting!
The Squads are a specialized company. They are a 2 piece, 6 member company. The piece designated "SquadA" is a "box" truck with an elevating platform or"snorkel". The piece designated "Squad " is a "box" or closed utility body. IIRC, 4 on the squad and 2 on the A unit.
@@davidbloom6483 To be specific, Fire Commissioner Goodrich (served 1927-1931) owned the largest of the Great Lakes steamship lines. He also ordered the firehouse doors painted red, to make them more conspicuous to people seeking aid.
@@BACONndEGGS I’ve also heard that FDNY relaxed the ban on the Mechanical Qi’s too. Not here in Philadelphia. Not only are they used but the siren is placed on the bumper of the fire truck.
@@Born2doom That makes it hard for residents to get enough sleep. The city of Chicago and the suburbs should consider switching from the EQ2B's to the real Q on fire trucks, PA4000, Whelen and Carson on ambulances and European sirens on all emergency vehicles.

Out the door in 45 seconds - great turnout time! Nice catches and a beautiful sunset backdrop!

That’s one of the fastest turnout times I’ve seen by the CFD
Always quick with "persons reported"
Yeah...CFD and FDNY move like turtles sometimes!!
They cleared the door ASAP, great job..
WOW, talk about some hustling!!! Great catch, thanks!
Very nice response! A lot of history in that FireHouse!!!!
Thanks!
I can see what’s on fire. The SKY!!! Beautiful sunset!
That sky is the thing on fire here lol.
Very impressive turnout time.
Great catch, sweet sounding sirens
Very nice video of them responding
Thanks!

Nice station and engine, did anyone catch a look at the sunset!
Yeah, it was definitely nice that evening.
Running Code-3 on a cold evening, a few snowflakes. Priceless.

1:00 - I hate drivers like that one that tailgated Engine 7. It's a very quick view of it, but jesus. Great catch though!
That was some insane hustle. The boys must have all been in the kitchen
When you are going at the other side from the street you have a better video! :=) Best wishes from germany Monti
That’s what I wanted to, unfortunately there was still a good amount of cars crossing so it would be impossible to make it in time
Nice
I noticed that Engine has a Q siren. Is it for display? Why don't they ever use Q sirens in Chicago?
Probably obvious; do the Stations have night mode lights, where the calls activate them?
I think I saw severide
Slowest door in the whole city of Chicago
How is it determined whn the battalion chief needs to go with or if he or she needs to stay back & do sm b.c. stuff.
Chief responds on just about everything.
What is with the green light on the front

What’s up with that white rim on Truck 58?
It’s a new rig
Interesting Siren from the Engine sounded like a cop car
Do they have a Squad?
no

Between the 2 pieces, they carry a variety of tools and equipment.
Grandfather's old engine co.
Nice!
That’s how you get them on..
what one is spare
Is there another rig that goes in front of the engine it seams a fair way back from the doors
I think when they have the non spare battalion that's where it sits. Could be wrong though
The ambulance sits in front of the engine
@@metraforce441 thanks for the reply it’s something we don’t see over here in London England. Keep the great videos coming
@@Logan-hu9fu thanks for the reply I need to get a better understanding of how the American fire departments work
thank you ilove usa fire fichters
The siren for Engine 7 is so plastic...
😍👍🏻
What is wrong with that siren?
Why the green light requirement?
It’s traditional! Green light on the starboard side of the rigs. Dates back to an old fire Commisioner who was in to boating!
Fire Commissioner in the 30's was a member of the family who was a large Great Lakes shipper.

Nice catch how old is that station
No idea and thanks!
1930s, was built as a single bay, other half added a little later
@@alarmoffice711 wow that's interesting you know alot about CFD Don't you?
Why do they have a green light?
Tradition
CFD is based on the Navy so red right returning.

Why engine 58 tf that’s a boat
They said E68
TRUCK 58
Shame Chicago Fire Department doesn’t use mechanical Q sirens that are used in NYC, LA and Philly.
Curious why they dont, culture or some other reason? I mean the truck has one right there on the bumper so.... why not use it if you have it?
Mechanical Q's are banned in NYC fdny uses the EQb's and yes some companies hook up mechanical Q'S and they get removed by the shop.
Chicago uses the EQ due to the cities current noise regulations
