Kris Kristofferson was an artist and musician that it was easy to like and love, He stood up for honesty, for peace to all men/women/children, Kris was raw and was the real deal, his own life wasn't easy, especially during the early part of his life but he never give up even during the hardest of times, he gave encouragement strength and purpose to millions of others all over the world by the way he tried to live his own life Chris was an intelligent man a kind man, a gentleman, a good caring man, a man that you could listen to and easily understand, how lucky are we to have the likes of Bob Dylan, John Fogarty Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Phil Lynott, Rory Gallaher, Van Morrison and other greats like those, men who stood up and told the truth and showed us the way. Kris was the mighty man who stood up strong and went to the aid of his little Irish sister when Sinead O Connor when was attached with the greatest hatred and was misunderstood, Kris stood by her side like a tall oak tree. A new very bright light shines in heaven and that star is called Kris Kristofferson, May God grant he soul eternal peace and rest in Heaven with all his past family friends and people he met along the way. Do not be sad that Kris is gone, the happy that you got to know him and his music during your life. Thanks a trillion Kris for the man that you was all during your good and long life. You did good.

@@PaulDopp-u9k Thank you for your reply, what you said about Kris Kristofferson is true, All of us humans have faults, we make mistakes but the most important thing is when we wake up that we do our best to be good, to be fair, give a helping hand to those in needed and speak up against injustices and to ask God for forgiveness and we must forgive those who we feel have wronged us during our life. Paul now you have nothing to fear, you were helped by Kris Kristofferson, you will have helped others, you have a good heart and soul and for those things God will welcome you home when your time on earth is complete< all the very best to you .

Loved his "Best of all possible worlds" ... It was on a tape I bought as a young just-left high school farm hand. I bought a guitar a week later for $10 ... that was the early 70's. Sang a few of his songs on stage ... they were a surefire hit with country crowds.

Younger folks don't know how Kris just wrote about what was going on around him and in his personal experiences.
Shipwrecked in the 80s and Feeling Mortal are a reflection.of many of us going through the stages in life.
He made some angry about his opposition to our involvement in Nicaragua and El Salvador.
Those wars created the gangs we have today.
He married a very good lady in 1982.
They have been together over 40 years.
He has many children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Packed a lot of living into his years,
leaving many songs others have sung.
Kris never complained of others who sang his songs and copyright striking like musicians would today.
The Highway men was a great idea Kris came up with.
He and John Cash, Waylon, Willie made good music. Great live concerts.
Called Cash John as Kris did out of respect for his elder and good friend.

While there are some points on which I disagree with Kris I can't help but admire and respect the man. He comes at his positions from a position of knowledge. Many parrot what they hear and have zero idea of the whole picture. But leaving politics completely out of it Kris is likely the greatest songwriter this country has ever produced. He is a poet. His lyrics are unmatched by anyone I've ever heard. Sure, there are great songs out there. But with Kris it's HUNDREDS of great songs. Not five or seven, but hundreds. An American poet he is. Give a listen to the way he weaves words and be amazed.

I'm glad to hear that Kris changed his opinion of the Vietnam "War". My father and mother, who both served in the military during World War II were horrified that young men were being sent to Vietnam to battle communism. A country where we espoused the right to believe the way you want to. Stunning to them that I was a young hawk...but after time I came to understand why they were against that war.

One of the best interviews I've ever seen. I do wish they'd asked that one damn question that kept coming up in reverse: "Kris, do you think if you'd changed your lyrics, pleased everyone, and wrote what they all wanted to hear instead of what you knew and felt, if THAT would have hurt your career?"

    • @metamorphosis67
      @metamorphosis67 9 лет назад +9

John Purser I like how these TV idiots talk about Kristofferson "hurting his career" as if his net worth of over 80 million dollars is not enough "career" already! An entertainer give people what they want. An artist gives people what they don't know they want. Kris was sometimes the former in his movie career but mostly the latter in his songwriting career and he was HUGELY successful without having to compromise. His classic period songs were recorded countless times and any supposed "mediocre" albums that came later and "stalled his career" made no real dent in his overall level of success.

    • @chiefblueox4952

Experienced him @ a concert in Vienna ... and ... shame on me ... at first sight, I was disappointed that he had cut off his beard ... ;o)
but ~ what a concert it was ... and, I was "wooing" and "bravoing" all the way through his performance. Would never have wanted to miss it.
Surely one of the GREATS treasuring us with exceptional music. THANKS!

i wonder how many people under 30 could have a meaningful dialogue about nicaragua , oliver north, the shah of iran.....here is a man that went from lifer west point type to questioning reality in an honest and truthful manner....now he would be labeled simply "fake news", "liberal", pot head.....he is a true american hero as he has obviously gone beyond a high school diploma....to me cash, kristofferson, jennings, nelson are true american outlaws as were washington, jefferson, franklin, .......this man is the spirit and true essence of real americanism.......i met him at a willie nelson 4th of july picnic in texas the summer of 1979.....he is not contrived , he is real.......men like him will save america not men like bonespurs

Quanto mais o tempo passa, melhor ele fica, amo esse homem, grande poeta, compositor, interprete, ator, encanta com sua voz única, doce e sensual a cantar suas histórias, que são também as nossas, atemporal.

I think musicians can change the world “they’re” in , ( the music world ) but not much else outside of and most of the time ultimately only blowing out they’re opinions ,( except in a gathering of millions) , and he’s done or been involved in it to that level, “all” of the highwaymen as a matter of fact.

Did'nt know he was a songwriter... impressive... talking about Vietnam war... go read "The Dark Side of Camelot" by Seymour Hirsch (Investigative Journalist)... eye-opener of note... never liked Nixon & LBJ but this book revealed things never knew about JFK & RFK... shocking info but detailed and believable...
