His praise for other entertainers is so completely unselfish, and is a true mark of the man he is. It is easy to see why he has such a loyal and devoted following, both from his peers and from his audiences. He has managed to gain the respect of fellow celebrities, and most certainly, it was not an easy path.

This man means the world to me. Hearing his songs when I was 15 years old he made me a songwriter. I’ve had thirty songs published in Nashville. Several were recorded by established artists, but. none of them made it on to an album. So, in the commercial sense, I am a failure. I’m sixty years old and I realize that songwriting was’t something I did to make money. Of course that would have been great, but I always had great difficulty expressing my feelings, and songwriting was a way to express myself. Ever since the day I heard Kristofferson, songwriting has been a passion for me. I listened to his albums until I wore them out. I said to myself, I’m going to write songs like that.. Well, forty yeas and over a thousand songs later and I haven’t come close. But, I’m still trying!!! Watching this interview really reveals who he is. He has difficulty talking about himself, and talks about other people i a much easier way. His shyness and measured answers are part of his appeal. It’s clear that underneath his demeanor is a brilliance and s cannon of talent and conviction. When he started doing movies, I never heard anything about him selling out. I. guess that’s because you just look at him, and you know Hollywood would come calling. Guys wanted to be him. Girls wanted to take him home. He was never a great actor but It was still hard not to watch him on the screen. But he will be remembered as one of the greatest songwriters who ever lived. People who aren’t moved by lyrics and the depth of his sings will say he’s a lousy singer. He is a great singer for expressing his songs. He had to have an imperfect voice and a guitar slightly out of tune. It was all part of his honesty. The day Johnny Cash recorded Sunday Mornin Comin Down, was the day Nashville and country music changed. They billed country music as an honest kind of music but the were unspoken rules about a line you couldn’t cross. It was like he was saying through his songs, let’s just see how honest you really are. He’s my hero. He changed my life, and if there is a bigger fan than me, I’ve yet to meet him or her. My only regret is that I never got to meet him. I love you, Kris.

People take this guy way too seriously. I sure never did. He can't sing worth a damn, but he is a great songwriter. He is also a totally terrible actor. In fact, his acting is so bad it's embarrassing. But I guess ego and money will get you in the end.
