The win streak bonus should either be retroactively undone, or competitors should have their win streaks/momentum recalculated as though the game with the cheater never happened. It’s the only fair thing to do once you know a cheater compromised the tournament. Also, a qualifier like this should definitely be done OTB.
And the cheater kicked out. The win streak bonus is definitely ****ed up. If your streak is broken by Magnus, then you lose it, but if you beat a hundred 500-rated players in a row, you get it.
Bonus comment: In the academic world, there is software like the Respondus Lockdown Browser which is used to test students remotely. It will prevent students from accessing other programs during the test. It seems to me that something like this would help stop this form of cheating.
Yea like in the real olympics they keep whatever biometric samples forever and if 50 years later the testing tech advances and they find out some long dead person cheated they STILL do whatever they can to undo the victory.

"It had never come up before," Viktor shrugged. I've also read about a couple of masters playing a game when one castled while his rook was under attack. The other claimed it was an illegal move.
major tournaments should only have access to FIDE registered players, and if someone cheats, that's fine... one year suspension from all FIDE and national tournaments. You will then see how finally tournaments will be playable

Suggestion: Cannonball chess Every two moves, Martin fires a cannon at a random square and if your piece is on that square it dies. But Martin's pieces have put on cannonball-proof armor so the cannonballs don't do anything to them. Also, both kings have the cannonball-proof armor too. Good luck!
great idea but one cannon ball every second move? If nothing is traded then there is like a 65% chance that you will only lose 5 pieces or fewer after 50 (!) moves, which is more than enough to beat Martin.

There's someone on LiChess who calls cheaters "Rambos." He's referring specifically to when someone turns on the engine after losing a queen or a couple of pieces which evokes the image of Rambo tearing through an army of many while outnumbered. Someone cheated against a homebrew line of mine with a refutation I knew about and I said "another Rambo," in the tournament chat. He asked "what's a Rambo?" and was banned the game he played after mine.
Challenge Idea: Chess but your pieces get demoted Basically your pieces get demoted after a few moves. Pawns can only move 9 times before being removed, because pawns are the only piece that will die immediately. Knights and Bishops are demoted to pawns after 10 moves. Rooks get demoted after 12 moves (Castling also counts as a rook move) Queens can go for 14 moves before being demoted. Also things to note 1) A Rook or Queen will be demoted to the piece below them. For example for queens they get demoted to a rook, then knight or bishop, then a pawn. 2) You can choose to demote a rook or queen to a knight or bishop 3) once a piece is fully demoted, it gets removed from the board 4) If a pawn gets promoted, the piece it promoted to gets the amount of moves that piece makes (same for demotion)

Reminder that STREAKS are important. meaning that someone who won the tournament could have played the cheater twice at the start and end and it wouldnt affect him. having a 13 streak broken and having to rebuild this is making a HUGE impact on the overall points. so its not "he wouldnt have qualified either way" But yeah... cheaters suck wherever they are

I have a challenge for you that you may not be ready for… Teach a beginner (someone who has basic understanding of the game) how to beat you. This challenge serves two purposes, give insight to less skilled players on what it takes. and 2, it exposes you to your own weaknesses in a public way so you can’t ignore them, which presents an opportunity for you to get even stronger as a player. It would take a lifetime to do that. Nelsi would have to find someone with the potential to reach a rating at least as high as him, then that person would have to stick with the training for years. That's a product of probabilities at the very least.

Im 1700 and I played a game recently where on move 7 my opponent blundered back to back knights aaaaaand i went on to get absolutely demolished over a 40 move game. I thought I was terrible but then he got banned for cheating and I was like phew, I'm terrible but not THAT terrible.
I'm of the opinion that cheaters should be sacrificed to the gods like we did in the old days, ensuring a good harvest for next year by throwing them into active vulcano's. Feels like Turkish Draughts ain’t it?

If they have a better accuracy then a Grand Master and are less than say 2200 then red flags pop up and you should report them to be investigated and hopefully they will be banned. The solution is to make sure all potential cheaters know they will be insta banned after their cheating such that it makes it not worth it to even cheat once.

That being said, I consider cheaters to be a very sad part of the chess community. I hope the website will find a way to make up for this, not just by returning you the points, but by finding ways to “repair” winning streaks for such cases in future events. 1. a/h=Rook
2. b/g=Knight
3. c/f=Bishop

There is no promotion needed to beat Martin.

The solution is to make sure all potential cheaters know they will be insta banned after their cheating such that it makes it not worth it to even cheat once.

Despite enjoying most of your videos for the concise way you explain things (and thus subscribing), I believe the clickbait title to be a disservice, as it detracts from the excellent image that you have been building.
That being said, I consider cheaters to be a very sad part of the chess community. I hope the website will find a way to make up for this, not just by returning you the points, but by finding ways to “repair” winning streaks for such cases in future events. I don’t know if it is difficult to take such action now, but it would seem at least fair for the matter to be looked into.
