Olympic qualifiers need to be recalculated. The win streak bonus should either be retroactively undone, or competitors should have their win streaks/momentum recalculated as though the game with the cheater never happened.
It’s the only fair thing to do once you know a cheater compromised the tournament.
Also, a qualifier like this should definitely be done OTB.

      And the cheater kicked out.
The win streak bonus is definitely ****ed up. If your streak is broken by Magnus, then you lose it, but if you beat a hundred 500-rated players in a row, you get it.

Bonus comment: In the academic world, there is software like the Respondus Lockdown Browser which is used to test students remotely. It will prevent students from accessing other programs during the test. It seems to me that something like this would help stop this form of cheating.

You're in good company. In 1974, Korchnoi was playing Karpov in the Candidates final for the right to challenge Fischer. Midgame, Korchnoi strolls over to the arbiter O'Kelly de Galway, and asks if he can castle while his rook is attacked. O'Kelly looks at him stunned, but answers yes. "It had never come up before," Viktor shrugged.
I've also read about a couple of masters playing a game when one castled while his rook was under attack. The other claimed it was an illegal move.

    Suggestion: Cannonball chess
Every two moves, Martin fires a cannon at a random square and if your piece is on that square it dies. But Martin's pieces have put on cannonball-proof armor so the cannonballs don't do anything to them. Also, both kings have the cannonball-proof armor too.

There's someone on LiChess who calls cheaters "Rambos." He's referring specifically to when someone turns on the engine after losing a queen or a couple of pieces which evokes the image of Rambo tearing through an army of many while outnumbered. Someone cheated against a homebrew line of mine with a refutation I knew about and I said "another Rambo," in the tournament chat. He asked "what's a Rambo?" and was banned the game he played after mine.

  • @Random_user274

Challenge Idea: Chess but your pieces get demoted
Basically your pieces get demoted after a few moves. Pawns can only move 9 times before being removed, because pawns are the only piece that will die immediately. Knights and Bishops are demoted to pawns after 10 moves. Rooks get demoted after 12 moves (Castling also counts as a rook move) Queens can go for 14 moves before being demoted. Also things to note
    1) A Rook or Queen will be demoted to the piece below them. For example for queens they get demoted to a rook, then knight or bishop, then a pawn.
    2) You can choose to demote a rook or queen to a knight or bishop
    3) once a piece is fully demoted, it gets removed from the board
    4) If a pawn gets promoted, the piece it promoted to gets the amount of moves that piece makes (same for demotion)

I'm of the opinion that cheaters should be sacrificed to the gods like we did in the old days, ensuring a good harvest for next year by throwing them into active vulcano's.
It ruins chess, it ruins my mood, it makes it difficult to concentrate because after playing a cheater everyone feels like a cheater since you don't know where the mistakes were you just played what you thought was good, and worked, and there is no counterplay.

Playin a cheater sucks. Doesnt matter the end result. However maybe I am a bit confused why you didn't qualify as if he is a cheater then what is stopping you from qualifying for the olimpics? In my humble opinion nothing is stopping you. You should be included. But hey this is my opinion.

Game suggestion: chess, but both players only have 16 pawns in two rows of 8 starting at rows 2-3 and 6-7. These pawns have their basic movements, but can only promote to rooks. If capturing pieces is possible, that move must be made, even if the action results in a detriment.
No en passant and double step movements, and first to capture all of their opponent’s pieces wins.
Feels like Turkish Draughts ain’t it?

When something bad happens in life I always try to assume it's the best thing that could have happen at this moment in time, so basically it was better if you didn't qualify for whatever reason, could be anything

      1. You can't
      2. If they have a better accuracy then a Grand Master and are less than say 2200 then red flags pop up and you should report them to be investigated and hopefully they will be banned.
The solution is to make sure all potential cheaters know they will be insta banned after their cheating such that it makes it not worth it to even cheat once.

Despite enjoying most of your videos for the concise way you explain things (and thus subscribing), I believe the clickbait title to be a disservice, as it detracts from the excellent image that you have been building.
That being said, I consider cheaters to be a very sad part of the chess community. I hope the website will find a way to make up for this, not just by returning you the points, but by finding ways to “repair” winning streaks for such cases in future events. I don’t know if it is difficult to take such action now, but it would seem at least fair for the matter to be looked into.
