      Hey man! First, thanks for drawing my error to my attention. Second, ya with so many options out there, it is hard. Are you looking for street? Crossover? Off-board? What kind of ride are you seeking. Don’t get me wrong…the suspension and design of this board is unbelievable. But, my board is just not holding up to the rides I like to do. If you are a guy that likes to ride…many miles, so some serious carving, and have a need for speed…you have to check out the Zeus. It is the BEAST in my opinion. Let us know what riding style you like. Again, thanks man! Glad you came back and commented.

      @@esk8ooligan Hi, thanks for your answer. I think I am looking for crossover, slow speed, urban exploring, dirt/forest trails. Range is probably my only real requirement. I am heavy (95kg) rider and I think battery and price up to 1500$ are most important things for me. Other options, are probably Backfire Hammer and Eovan GTS Carbon Super. Propel Pro would be the best choice, but is is to expensive.

    FOR ANYONE CONCERNED I can tell you my experiences with the S range are higher then what my expectations were. Below I put a link to the google maps path I ripped with the propel S over 5 times to the end and back at freezing temperature, all 190 miles I have on the board are at freezing. 0 degree Celsius. I also ride the last stretch either farther or back and forth once. From Gabriel Dumont park to Diefenbaker park. Or another mile past the south bridge. I am mostly in the high setting on a groomed trail but when I am feeling like adrenaline I switch it to pro for a little while. Here is a youtube link to me riding my S, as you can see it is not a very smooth path. This trip is a little over 17 or 18 miles and I have noticed on the last mile a couple times I got the 25% left buzz on the controller, yet pro mode gave me full juice up until that point, I could not notice battery sag in pro mode near 25% battery at full load on the attempts I made(My total weight was 150 lbs with gear at 29 psi filled indoors). BTW I am a technician, I agree there is a mismatch but batteries are expensive, however the motors are overpowered for the amount they are drawing is too much for the battery. That is perfectly normal when you have a ratio like that, 3000 watts at 666 WH. My meepo Mini 2 would be 1100 watts at 280 WH which is far less motor power for the amount of battery you have, so range will be more specific on the Endeavor S or Pro to how much juice you are putting through those huge ass motors because they are capable of over 4 HP.
    I have tried to post this over 12 times but you tube keeps deleting my links I am providing. I even used Z's that you can delete from the link, I think the only way to watch the video is clicking on my icon.

      On the 17th mile at freezing temperature, I full power it on pro mode up a steep grade, It still seems to have full power, or unnoticeable battery sag. At this point I have had the 25% buzzer go and I felt sag immediately at that moment. On the 17th mile when I full power it uphill I have had the 25% buzzer go off and also not about an even amount of times.

      The 6374 motors for Baja board are $30 dollars more then the Propel board website at $120. I am not sure if that means that Propel is a lower end 6374 motor but it is less money on the websites.

    This is a great review. I've seen others that tend to report better numbers, so I'm thinking you have a bad battery. Explains the sag and if it's delivering poor power to the motors. With a solid battery, I would image the sag would go away and the range would get better.

    Thanks for making the update.I would think your battery might have a problem. I just rode mine today on some hilly grass areas and did not get the bogging down speeds you are getting. I am only 15 lbs lighter than you. I rode mine mostly on pro speed as well. I wonder if there is a way to get the battery tested? 12 miles seems really low for mostly flat surface riding. My initial ride I was at 16-17 miles and there was still 2 bars on the remote.
    Another reason I think it might be the battery and not the motors is the 6374 motors have a max output of 3000 watts each and are also on the Baja board s2 atrax which is a pretty high end off-road board at $4,450.

    Hey man! Thanks for drawing my attention to the mistake. Appreciate that. I have done a volt test on the board, and it appears that it is line, but I agree with the battery idea. I would prefer to put a 12S4P in this thing and see how it behaves. Dang, if you were at 16 with two bars left, ya, there is something wrong with my battery. I don’t think there is anything “wrong” with the motors, I just think 1500 watts per motor is too small for this board. I know the 6374 has a capacity of 3000W, but they are using a regulator to limit it to 1500…probably because of the battery and draw that would be needed in order to carry that board. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the design and potential of this board. I have plans to modify it to beef it up.
    I need to read up on the specs of the Ling Yi ESC to see what it can take.

    My propel endeavor S arrives tomorrow so I will test out the range and see if I get the same battery sag you talk about.
    But with the glaring discrepancy in range I think it’s obvious that either you have a bad battery or bad esc. Most likely bad battery if it’s sagging like that with a light load on a full charge.
    Sounds like something’s defective to me otherwise you wouldn’t be one of the only ones I’ve seen get that bad of range.

    So, here's my thoughts on this video... 12 miles for a 12s3p turning 8 inch tires with a 5/1 ratio is not surprising to me. I don't care what the manufacturer claims, ALL manufacturers exaggerate. What kind of range are other folks getting? Second, you mentioned several times "There's some sag in the battery" What do you mean by that? ALL batteries sag as you run them down, that's how they work. 3rd, you criticized the board's motors for being under powered saying "these are low end 6368 motors" and they should have put on bigger 6374's. This is incorrect. Motors do not produce output like a car, the battery and ESC is where your power comes from, larger motors can handle more amps and pull more weight with more amps, idk the setting on the S, but i believe the pro puts out 50 amps per motor. a 6368 with 50 amps will pull just the same as a 63900 with 50 amps, in fact, there are more drawbacks to installing a motor that is much larger than you need. Lastly, again, calling the board "underpowered for true all terrrain" , I believe that "All terrain is a WAY overused term in the esk8 industry, If you don't have a Baja board, an x4s, or a custom Trampa, you don't have an "All terrain" board, but since people like to call things all terrain, I'm willing to bet that this would do as well as, if not better than any other "All Terrain" board on the market like Evolve or WowGo or whatever else... Furthermore, Propel says right on their website that this board is designed to be the ultimate street board, not an off road explorer, yet people still insist that the Endeavor is a 2wd version of the x4s and expect it to perform like the x4s. It's not, And my last point, you bought low end endeavor, but wanted the high end performance.... they make a model for that. I thing your review and testing procedures were outstanding, but i think you need to reset your expectations a bit and you might appreciate the board better for what it is. Either way, it does not suit your needs, and that's totally understandable, but i don't think your expectations were fair.

      Hey BMW, thanks for the view, comment, and sub.
      You have packed a lot in, so please let me reply.
      Regarding the mileage, while I agree with you that all manufactures stretch the truth, when I am getting twelve miles when they indicated a range of 17-28, either they need to be more honest, or something is wrong with the board. I believe something is wrong with "this" board.
      Regarding the sag, as I said in the vid, I encountered sag immediately, when hitting the 12 degree hill. I indicated the battery was fully charged...that I was not one-third or two-thirds into the battery, but it was a full charge. There is an immediate dip in the battery indicator when under a load...even with the battery freshly charged. That is sag.
      At 12:45, I referenced the 6374 motors not 6368 motors as the Endeavor S and Pro have 6374 motors. 6374 motors have the capacity of 3000+W per motor, but these are being regulated by the ESC to 1500W each for a theoretical output of 3000W. 3000W for this board when the board alone weighs 37 points without a rider, is not enough for "a capable off-road beast" as they refer to it in their description of the Endeavor S. They even refer to it as an off-road vehicle. My Zeus has the same motors and has an output of 3350W per motor for a total theoretical output of 6700W. The Zeus did better in the same grassy area and it had 120mm Cloud wheels. I got wheel slip on the Zeus as the Cloud wheel tread pattern is not designed for grassy terrain. So yes, I stand behind saying this board is underpowered. This will be important to remember for my final point. And, no "this" board...the board I have, will NOT do as well as the Evolve or Wowgo board.
      In your furthermore comment you indicated Propel said "this board is designed to be the ultimate street board, not an off road explorer" and that that came off their website. This is what the Description tab of the Endeavor S says, "Endeavor is a perfect crossover board for those who wish to travel off road occasionally but need a smaller ESK8 for their neighborhood or city. Everything that makes it such a capable off road beast simultaneously allows it to be the most comfortable board on the market for neighborhood and city riding." If it is going to be a "crossover" board or an "off-road beast" (their words not mine), it needs to have more output in the power train. When the Zeus beats it with 120mm cloud wheels, and is a low profile street board, the "off-road beast" is not so much of a beast. I agree with you about the All Terrain usage, and something that I will probably change now.
      Finally, as to expectations. The Pro and the S are exactly the same board but with three exceptions. The ESC. The deck. AND, the battery. I firmly believe that if they had put the 12S4P or 5P battery in the S, you and I would not be having this conversation. So, yes, I had great expectations, but when the board does not meet the basic expectations on concrete, then yes, there is a disappointment in the expectations. AND, no, I won't drop my expectations as this board should have been able to meet those expectations on concrete. Based upon their description, the S would have and should have met my expectations.
      With all that being said, as I indicated to Propel in my communications to them, I believe this board has a battery issue. As I stated in the vid, I think this is a great board with much potential...it just has a battery issue.
      I hope this answers your questions. I hope it sheds light on my statements in the vid. I hope you will stay a sub as I like people who challenge what I say and not just accept any old thing someone says.
      Thanks BMW for taking the time to respond. I do appreciate it.

      Other than the difference in the carbon fiber deck, the VESC and the battery, there is no other difference between the boards. My only real complaint is on the battery. The 666Wh battery in the S model is just too small for a board of that weight and potential off-road use. If they would have put the 1110Wh battery in the S, I would be yelling complements from the mountain tops. The board really is a design masterpiece. LOVE the suspension. HATE the 666Wh battery. I am working now to have a larger battery build for it from a local battery specialist. Not sure if that answered your question or not. It all boils down to the battery.

    It doesn't matter what charge your battery is at. Voltage sag is always present and it will be anywhere from 10-40% of your battery immediately gone when you pull the throttle. When you get to last 25% it gets more noticeable, that's all. 666 wh at 12s3p is a lie. That means the board is using 5ah cells and even the best 5ah cells can only output 10-15 amps (I bet they are using some chinese low end cells and the capacity is max at 540 wh), so the sag with this board will be huge, strain on the battery big and it will not have much power. Also the real power of this board is around 1500w whole system, so 750w per motor and that's already pushing it to or oeven over the limits of the cells.

    I think 'non human' is chinglish for no warranty on user caused damage. Battery sag is very normal for all erideables on whatever level of charge. I ride EUCs & with a live bt streaming app, one can see the immediate Vsag anytime there's extra load. Honestly with that weight & the large ATs, I figured 15mph is about it for any aggressive riding. Also there's a "street" AT tire accessory which, theoretically should give better range. Personally I take factory claim ranges with a double pinch of salt (not unlike EPA mileage for autos) as there's so many factors to skew it. Obviously, the factory will use the best most optimal methods available, like a thin 140 pounder with strap on weight on speed mode 1 (maybe 2) doing 10-12mph on flats.

    • @esk8ooligan
      @esk8ooligan  2 года назад

      Hey Scott! I would agree to a point. Yes, marketing and using the best specs is always a tactic used to make a product appear better than it is. I have other eSK8s that do not show sag until they are about 1/2 to 2/3 of the way into the battery. My Endeavor S does it within fifty yards of the drive on a fresh charge. My Backfire G3 was spot on for mileage and after about 400 miles is still spot on with what was advertised. My Zeus is spot on with what was advertised and after about 200 miles is still spot on. This board was advertised as an AT beast...this particular board is not even close to a beast. Maybe a purring kitten. So far, the boards I have have been head over heals better than the Endeavor S. I have a Hurricane arriving soon and the Eovan GTS Carbon on delivery right now. Will be interesting to see how they hold up. Appreciate your insight. Thanks for the view and comment. Always good to have good dialog on these devices.

    I was a bit disappointed with the range I got on my S also. Seemed quite under spec. @eSK8ooligan you mentioned using a PSI of 25 recommended by Propel. I didn’t see that recommendation but suspect that’s for more off road use. I’m running mine at 40 PSI as stated on the 8 inch AT tyres as I’m 98% on sealed paths. Perhaps try a higher inflation and see if it improves your range. Good work. Regards from Oz.

      @esk8ooligan  2 года назад

      Yes, 25 PSI is a recommendation from Propel for off-road. When I approached them, they said to take it up to 30. I did. Once it warms up, I might do what y you did and take it to 35 or maybe even forty for street riding. 30-40 PSI for off-road is not good. Great way to pop a tire. I appreciate your recommendations…sometimes we don’t always think of everything. I really do think I have a bad battery. I am looking at having my battery specialist build a bigger battery pack that can be handled by the ESC. My goal is to get longer ride times. I probably won’t do much off-roading. If I could get about 22-25 miles, I would be happy…12 just isn’t cutting it for my. Again, thanks for advice!!

    That sounds like a bad battery cell or suspect bms. Charges full. But not all parallel battery is getting full charge. That could be bms issue. Common on a lot of manufactured electric vehicles. Try that with a Tesla. Oh, you would be pissed. Just build a board

    the deception comes from the support (lack) from Propel. Seems like they don't care!!

      I don't know if I would say they don't care, but they really didn't step unlike they should have...especially if they are trying to build a good brand.

      Find the facebook group.The engineers are in that group and they respond within a few hours (if that) with highly detailed info on any question posted.

      Now I can’t claim that propel steps up from personal experience yet. However everything I have seen and heard about this company and their product is that they are very responsive and have.a very well made and high end product. I owned a Summerboard that is an American company headquartered about an hour from me and they are a nightmare in quality and service…

      @@badkneesandall2640 Hey Bad Knees…love the screen name…I have gone back and forth with Propel on this unit with at least eight emails. I am at the point now in working with a local battery shop to put the battery through a series of tests. Propel’s recommendation was to wait until spring (warranty would have been expired by then) to see if the temperature change would make a difference. When we tested this unit (three separate test), we were at 66, 65, and 62 degrees…not exactly cold. The only thing right now that I am overly impressed with with this unit is the design and suspension…it is pretty dope!! I hope your Pro’s power train is better. Don’t get me wrong, I think this board has A LOT of potential. I just need to make the corrections on my own to bring it up to that potential. Thanks for the view and comment!!

    This guy's a lot of lip service or as we call or as we like to call him here in the islands waha I don't even think this guy can skate I was born and raised and Santa Monica California that's right that's the capital of skateboarding Dogtown USA and I own this board and for the price you can't get nothing that will compare to it

      Hey Chris, thank you for your view and comment. I have three other boards of similar price that could be compared and would surpass this board.
      Let's see, how did you say that? Sounds like some waha lip service in your response.
      BUT, I still respect your opinion and am okay with you voicing it.

    I have tested many many boards and have 5 years experience riding electric skateboards. The turning radius on this board is terrible. I also found the brakes to soft. The ESC is a little jerky off the line and you cant go over bumps at an angle do to the design of the trucks. you will bottom out. I really don't love this board.

    • @esk8ooligan
      @esk8ooligan  Год назад +1

      Hey streetscholar, I have to agree with you on the turning radius, but that is because of the independent suspension (of which I have to admit I like), but yes, the turning force adjustment is pretty rough. I agree 100% on the jerky start. That is the one thing that everyone who rides this board has commented to me. I love the look on their face when they first take off. I actually have not bottomed out on the board. It handles most curbs like a champ. My big beef is with the battery and the wonderful 12 miles I get per charge.
      Appreciate the view and comment.

    The esc on this board is garbage. I own one and the breaking (stutters) and acceleration is terrible! The support is non existent for this board when I asked. They told me it was normal. The suspension is great. The design is pretty cool. Don’t buy this!!! Perhaps the pro is better.

    and why would it be odd to drop a bar under full throttle,on an incline??? Have you ever ridden any other boards with hobbywing or lINGYI esc? This is super common with most esc battery indicators My exway is the same, my zues is the same. NOT classified as an AT board???? This review is whack. Im thinking the reviewer has a bone to pick with Propel. Everything he said is completely biased and the majority of the owners are over the moon with the bang for the buck with the S. My only regret is I didnt spend the money and get the pro but for the $999 I spent, no other brand has delivered so much for so little in the 3 years ive been around

      Hey Rusty. Thank you for the comment. I always appreciate comments...positive, negative, and even those that are angry.
      I just wanted to check and see if 9621 miles (oops...that should be 9648 - forgot to add in yesterday's 27 mile ride) across six boards would be enough riding time. I know many of my eSK8er RUclips friends have many many more miles than me, but I would not classify 9648 miles as a novice.
      If I ride a Zeus (Hobbywing ESC 9028), a Meepo Hurricane (LingYi FOC 70), a Eovan GTS Carbon Super (VESC), Backfire G3 (Hobbywing), and a Propel Endeavor S (LingYi), to mention a small handful of my boards, would that be enough to answer your question if I have ever ridden a board with a Hobbywing or LingYi ESC...I even have VESC boards...does that get me extra points?
      You may want to watch the vid again as I stated the battery indicator drop occurred on a fresh battery right at the start...not at the lower 25% of the battery. And, no...I have NEVER encountered that on any of my boards. If you are seeing it on your Zeus as you indicated...you may want to check it out as I have NEVER encountered that anomaly on my Zeus and still don't until I get down into the lower 25% of the battery. Maybe you have an issue with your Zeus that you have not identified yet. To have this issue right at the beginning on a freshly charged battery...that is not normal operating behavior...in my opinion. You can hear my battery sag comment at 11:11 in the vid.
      I'm a little confused when you say that the review is whack and all wrong. If that is the case, then at 1:08 when I say that I give them an A for the design, or at 15:45 that it is a dope board, or at 15:48 that I love the suspension, or at 15:50 that I love the eight inch tires...then you are saying that is whack and wrong? So you are saying that this is not a good board then by calling my positive comments whack?
      In one of your other comments you questioned my 30 PSI statement. Propel recommends 25 PSI. They recommended going to 30 PSI. Yes, the tire shows that it can actually go to 60 PSI, but one would be a little crazy to inflate a tire to that pressure and then take off-road or even right on a hard surface with that pressure. You will have a high probability of puncturing a tire. That is why we generally run the tires at 25-30 PSI on an off-road board such as this in off-road situations and slightly higher on hard surfaces.
      I could go on and on, but I think you might get my point and understand that I am not a novice at this. Could I ever be wrong...why yes I can and at the beginning of the vid I laid that out and that this was a remake due to incorrect information. If you would like to continue this type of discussion, I'm game, but I might recommend that you fully watch the vid and study the specs of the board before engaging in the conversation.
      I really do appreciate comments...just make sure they are well-informed comments and not just an attempt to belittle or get 15 minutes of fame. And, please do feel free to comment on any of my other videos. I do take the feedback and use it to make my vids even better.
      Hope you ride hard...carve safe....and have a great day.

    This board is shit. No torque, no top speed. Steering is very inconsistent, not precisely linear like other trucks.

    • @esk8ooligan
      @esk8ooligan  2 года назад

      While I am not completely happy with the Endeavor S, I would not go quite that far. The overall design and technology in the board is actually pretty impressive. The motors are of descent size and the suspension is pretty impressive. The issue with this board is that the battery pack included is absolutely under powered for this board. I do not believe this board was designed to be a speed racer. The steering is tighter due to the independent suspension...which does not work like TKP trucks. This board was just a little before its time and not powered correctly related to the battery.
      I am looking to put a better designed battery in it...with absolutely no help from Propel. The company has pretty much washed their hands of my reported issue.

      @@esk8ooligan Sounds like most of these Chinese complies operate that way. Excited to take your money but if you have a problem they do not want to fix it. Eovan is another company with the same shitty business practices. Would love to see what battery upgrade you come up with.
