Your true treasure is having a partner who after hearing what you lost, worries about your feelings and empathises with you. Great lady there. We learn about people, both good and bad, in these lessons.
My husband and I both invested in a state govmnt college fund. We lost tens of thousands of dollars. Only important thing is to support one another. Unfortunately there's no way to recoup the $$$.
This has been the best documentary I’ve seen in ages, informative, interesting and slightly comedic. I’m hoping with the 3 something million views and the great response you’ve had here that you’ve moved on and created a new career for yourself.
@@maltinamaltina2665 Do you remember him saying that he wasn't certain what would become of his visit to meet the crooks after he realized they weren't home? The feelings arising from the rush of adrenaline after finding that apt clouded his mind.
You are awesome Keithy Baby. I had someone fraudulently steal my car, I too got neurotically obsessed with it, tracked it to a dodgy industrial unit and stole it back with my spare key. Nerve wracking and adrenaline pumping fun. I hope you get justice, and your money back. Gods speed
@@gondolacrescent5 if he's being sympathetic to this moron he's likely just as stupid as him... I'd say it was his neighbour that came over with a piece of paper he asked him to sign without reading.
I just watched this and was transfixed on the storytelling of it. Eventhough the outcome wasn't a fruitful one it did reveal that you have a talent for investigative journalism.
Calling up HSBC and telling them that criminals had been using their bank for money laundering is like calling up your local mafia capo and telling him that his crew is involved in illegal gambling.
Damn I was hoping that you would've got your money back me and my wife sitting here watching this documentary cringing that you did this by yourself with no police help no government help all by yourself you is a brave brave man
GHETTO-BANDIT RECORDS how is he a brave man ? He went all the way to Thailand to find them and completely bottled it when he was at their door, pathetic
Welshhibby, I agree but they will just come at you from a different direction. Thge world has become such a giant place, very cold and sterile. Corporations just use you up, suck the marrow from your bones and grab the next chump. As consumers we need to get back to the small close knit communities co-opts. think about it, would you give your money to the man who says good morning as you both head off to work or to someone who will never shake your hand? Hell the corporations won't even touch your money, they pay someone else to do that too.
Not really My cold call business center makes millions for average people every day! In fact, you look like your ready to take the next big step. Just forward me your contact information, social security # and credit history. My staff, run by the best in the business, will take it from there. All you have to do is sit back and watch the money roll in...
I came here due to an algorithm and stayed for the suspense. One good thing about this ordeal is that you have discovered a talent to be a documentary maker.
talented documentary maker for sure but lacking in common sense on a few fronts, 1, who actually falls for these scams in the first place? 2, why tf didn't he hire a decent translator when attempting to speak to people in a language that they clearly dont properly understand? or 3, he could have taken basic language lessons for the countries he was visiting, surely this would have made his experience not as painful
I have no clue why this video appeared im my recommened tab, yet after watching it i have a couple of things to say. I respect a lot what you did Keith. It takes a lot of courage and determination to come to a different country to face your scammers. It is disgusting how useless police are at times when they"re most needed.
Artem Yerzakovich this is what I wanna say! Keith , your courage and determination are impressive, indeed. I would just break down and cry (which is probably why I don't ever have 1 mil HKD,lol) btw, I am surprised how even HK bank people 's English became so bad~

I admire your tenacity in trying to find these despicable people. Sorry for your loss of money, move forward and be happy. I was just so impressed with your desire to shut these people down, Great video!!!
Sorry for your loss, but the way you told and documented this story was very well! You should be a film documentator! So captivating yet so suspenseful. Loved the way you portrayed your story. I'm really looking forward to your updated 2019 story! Hope to watch it soon!
As someone who was also scammed by a close friend and others (to the tune of a much much much smaller amount of money than yours) I can totally understand your feelings. And I must say, you are a kind of inspiration to me, as you remained so calm and poised during all of this. You were logical, and emotional, but NOT crazy and violent. I never once heard you yell or get visibly upset. As I said, you remained calm. I admire that quality very very much as I do not have it. I got hugely upset at my situation, and I tried to chase after the money as well, but even here in the USA, I was told that I would have to go to the state of the residing offender (very far from my state by the way) in order to sue them to get my money back. It seems, that the law claims to be on our side, but quite often instead, appears to be on the side of (or at least complacent towards) the criminals. I too felt a deep loss and distrust in people. I have never fully gotten over it, however, but my life too, has moved on. I try NOT to think too deeply about it, because if I do, then I just end up getting really upset and ultimately depressed about it... but if it makes you feel somehow better, I just want you to know that watching your video fully, I totally respected you, as you kept your cool and stayed emotionally strong and calm. I guess, your video for me, taught me more about how to handle life's evilness, more than anything else.... watching this video, you became a kind of role model for me. Thank you for sharing this video and your story. I am deeply sorry for your loss in finances and in faith towards humankind... but I totally understand. Please try to remember that not all human are evil like that. (By the way, I noticed in your emails from the criminals... that often they did not capitalize the "I" or "kind regards". That to me says they were uneducated English speakers to some degree, or not truly native speakers.)
"By the way, I noticed in your emails from the criminals... that often they did not capitalize the "I" or "kind regards". That to me says they were uneducated English speakers to some degree, or not truly native speakers" They were Americans.
If only he had a few more brain cells to do some research before dropping 110k to anonymous people. maybe he would of actually got somewhere in life instead of bangkok.
Great story man it's 3:30 AM here in Texas but I stayed up to watch your video I hope they get what they deserve thank you for documenting your journey
Dam I was so rooting for you mate, this video is so well put together. Its disappointing you never got to face the fraudsters but a great video none the less.
Second time watching this, this piece is so well put together and narrated that it's ready to go on any major TV channel. Great work, great story-telling.
Lots of suggestions which are common sense (for me, anyway). 1. If someone contacts you with investment advice, first you ask how they got your information. 2. A successful fund manager doesn't need to cold call random people. 3. You can buy stocks easily yourself, all it takes is 2-3 days to have an account funded and ready, no need for suspicious middlemen.
Better still, judging from the quality of his documentary, he could write an excellent book about this, Frederick Forsyth style. The money he'd been scammed out of would surely return and he'd have some closure considering it nothing but an investment in the stage of preliminay research. I'm listening to this while working, and hell, I could enjoy it if the story was stretched into a 7-8 hour audiobook! That there is no classic happy end here makes no difference; the Jackal didn't get to shoot De Gaulle either.
You’re terrific! My heart was pounding seeing your dangerous journey. It’s so easy to be scammed no matter how smart someone may be. Thanks for sharing your experience to help others. Thank God you weren’t harmed.
I did not think I would stay to watch the entire thing, but I did. You are a natural storyteller. There are pros who could clean up the audio a bit on those voices. Thank you, and good luck.
More and more people need to react the way you did. That would be the start of a silent people powered revolt and really force corporations to take action. I was inspired by you and closed my HSBC account as well. In fact, I got a call from a customer service agent and I told them this story as a reason for me to close my account. I encourage more people to do this as well.
TOOOOOOTALLY agree. I feel bad for this Keith guy, seems like a nice guy, maybe a bit too trusting. I'd NEVER do business with a cold caller, internationally for this much money without verifying the business and heavily vetting them to be a legit operation. But again, i wouldnt really invest anything international like that.....
I totally freeze all calls from any companies making any publicity immediatelly. I do not even get them a chance to speak. If they phone again I ask them their name and I say I will complain for their inaceptable attitude, and they dont bother you ever again. I speacially love the ones that phone you with a happy voice asking your name, meaning they dont even know who they are talking to, I screw them immediatelly
Wow, good stuff. I've been in the investment banking industry for 20+ years and it never ceases to surprise me how badly greed motivates both predators and prey. Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Keith, we really appreciate you sharing your story with everyone. If at the least this can stop someone else from getting scam then what you have shared is huge. The courage of you to go into several countries to try and find this scum was amazing. God bless you and your family. Lets look to the present and future and not look back in life. Respect
Brilliant work and thanks for making it. The editing was superb and the documentary on par with what established news companies make. Good to see you back safe.
My brother, I think we've all been ripped-off to one degree or another, so I definitely can sympathise. I commend you for doing what you can to try to find these people. Also, you are a good writer, good communicator, and fine film-maker! Have you considered either narrating or producing more documentaries? All good wishes!
> HSBC is so inept when it comes to fraud. Luckily for you you DO have enough money to provide for whatever police farce can be relied upon to ignore the fuck out of you.
i really believe you are a very courageous man and i think a lot many of us should learn from your ways..your persistence, you did not get your money back ..i think you have.moved beyond it .. a real man !

WheyHey! That's exactly my point... He shouldn't have been asking the people that work there about him... I'm sure he wasn't conspicuous at all fumbling around the guys residence! He Would have gotten a lot further if he paid a local to discreetly ask about the guy... Also just because he's scamming people out of money doesn't mean he's "smart or brilliant"... The guy could have shot him or stabbed him and then claimed he was breaking in
OTOH, how far is a registered letter going to registered for? In Britain it only extends to Mainland Britain. If he could have afforded it a well paid heavy might be a better follow up to going unmobhanded.
Over the years I have told countless friends, "if you receive a phone call about an investment product(any) DO NOT ACCEPT. You have to figure getting a cold to clean your ducts or mow your lawn is one thing but not for an investment. It doesn't if it's from your own country. There were many red flags here they were all ignored. Always do due diligence because it's YOUR money. And yes the golden rule, "if it's to good to believe don't believe it.
Why would anybody turn over $100,000 initiated by a cold call from a stranger? I'm sorry for this guy, but personally I would have hung up during the first call.

Wow, Kieth, I am so sorry for your loss and the amount of life time you have spent pursuing your case. I must say your documentary style of filming is exceptional and kept me watching with interest and suspense throughout. I do hope you find justice and these scumbuckets are brought down. Karma should prevail. Have a great day, and keep your spirits high. Thanks for sharing
Great documentary about the scamming industry.. Any updates Keith on this scam ?? I'm from England and live in England.. You should sell this to BBC or one of the English channels. They would love this
Thanks for your message, unfortunately it's not as easy as people think to sell a single doco. I spent quite a long time trying to get interest out of broadcasters and agents with no luck, which is why in the end I posted it on RUclips.
Keithy Baby I really thought , initially that you was an investigative journalist and I must admit ,that was a riveting documentary . I think on principle you should not let this lie and still try and track those scammers.. A second documentary follow up would be amazing. All the best from England .
I’m very impressed with this documentary. You have educated millions of people. Very sorry that you had to go through this though!! You can’t trust anyone these days, not even your family in certain situations. It’s truly sad! 😢 I pray that you can let it go and recoup from your loss.
Wow, this is a great video! I think the quality of the production and writing is so professional that you could actually sell it to a production or distribution company for much more than the amount of money stolen from you. Also, I wish to congratulate you on not simply retreating as a result of your misfortune. If more people were like you, the world would be a better place for all of us! This is one of the most significant videos I have ever seen on youtube. Thank you.
I know right. I can't get past the idea this guy handed money over to a stranger who cold called him. I mean.... I have no words for that level of moronic icy. ...wow
Hey, if the cold caller is asking for a face-to-face meeting, then go. Same for relationships with women. You never know, it may be a worthy investment! (Same for relationships with women) @wildebest
By september 2018,around 1400 individuals had put a thumb down on this documentary.Wich I assume are HSBC representatives,Australian Police,Thai smugglers and finally,Edward Martin and his family!
It's helpful to keep a sense of humor even when we are miserable and oppressed. And that's exactly how Keith was. Such tough life lessons are impossible to laugh at, but our resilience to overcome hard times always makes us smile inside to ourselves. Well done, Keith , you had the best attitude in distress.
Nothing worse than being scammed by evil heartless parasites, the world is full of them. God Bless you mate, and thanks for warning others you made good out of a terrible situation !

I think what HSBC told you is straight up lies. Every world bank would have a fraud department. The people either misunderstood you or were lying as they did not want more bad publicity.
@Zzzz Zzz It is 100% fraud. They are claiming he will get returns from the money he invested with them. They did not pay any returns and will not return the principle. I realise the guy was pretty stupid to ever give them money. But investing money in stocks over the phone is a legitimate thing. These guys were never legit.
@Kutulue - I agree that it was fraud. At a minimum, the fake investment firm opened their own accounts to perpetrate a crime. But let's be real, there are criminal bankers in the world, and they may use accounts like this to commit their own crimes. After all, if they (the bankers) are stealing from crooks, the crooks are in no position to report it. And bankers are in a position to move the funds around to cover their own tracks. It's a dirty game !
@@tubeyou0101010 Yeah sure - most banks are guilty of using shady practices or misreporting earnings at some time in their history. They should be held accountable just like any other crook. But that does not minimise or lessen the crimes these particular crooks are guilty of. it also does not excuse HSBC for not sending this guy to their fraud department. I think this was a case of bad translation and misunderstanding.
The questions he asked HSBC staff were not very good. He kept saying Fraud Fraud Fraud.. He kept getting confused looks. Obviously if you keep getting nothing back why keep saying the same thing repeatedly. He was also talking down to them. He should have appealed to sense of decency and been more humble and asked for help rather than try to bounce them.
Thanks for sharing Keith. Glad you were able to move on. P.S. this documentary is good enough for TV; wouldn't it be good if a TV channel paid you to air it :-).
Keithy Baby Hi Keith, thank you. I like your documentary a lot and have watched it a couple of times over (I just do not like the ending as I was hoping that they are caught, brought to trial, and imprisoned and die there or something). Your documentary was very professionally done so I wonder why you did not lease it to some tv channel as you can make some money out of it. If anything, it serves to educate us to be extremely cautious when doing business with people. You can also reach a wider audience and if you are lucky enough, to get some info from somebody who happened to know these scoundrels. I hope you do not get embittered by this. Even the most careful among us are not totally immune by these pieces of shit on earth. Nonetheless, I have a small criticism to make. I see that the main perpetrators were Caucasians, and definitely not Thais but the tone of your documentary, especially at the beginning seems to suggest that you placed the blame quite heavily on them. Only upon reaching the middle part, I finally could understand that you were upset by their poor law enforcement system. That's it mate, nothing else. Hopeful, luck will favor you and these bastards get the karma that they deserve. In the mean time, move on with your life.
I deal with HSBC and will talk to my broker about your experience, and have them watch the video If they do not tell me what I wish to hear,,ill be pulling my large investments out .Sorry for your loss.
Large investments lol. 50 quid? 100 quid? If you had proper cash you would't be investing with them!! Haha thanks, best laugh ever! Broker? haha brilliant
But is it not reasonable thinking to investigate the company you want to in put your money into most expecially if the company is not in your country, further more you can not blame the bank, before accounts are open individuals and their ID is protected whether fraudulent or not, report to police in your country, the bank even in Australia will not help you.
Keithy Baby Excellent video production. I hope youtube at least makes it worth your effort. The moral of this story is don't believe a salesmans or brokerage firms records and recommendations. Also don't put all your eggs in one basket. This advice is coming from someone who has actually gathered eggs. In the U.S. the securities and exchange commission is the first place to go. Still if they are sneaky enough they can still get by. That's how Bernie Madoff did it. He kept all the i's dotted and t's crossed until the scam broke down. It's like fractional reserve scamming almost like the bank system.
Keith, you are one hell of a courages man. Let me tell you how you would get your money back plus interest. Sell this good piece of doco to any TV and I bet you they will pay good money for it. You got me pinned to the video n less than 5 second. I dropped everything and finished watching it. You are a legend mate. BTW, I'm from QLD too. Cheers.

Really well done with this Keith, educational and very helpful for anyone who views this. I'm 17, great education for my future, hope I never get sucked into something like this.
The big lesson that you learn from this is that as an Australian who wants to invest money , he should have dealt with a registered Australian company who have offices and phones in Australian Australian registered companies are registered with a government body , the names and addresses of the company directors are also listed with the government and the government will take action if anything goes wrong . As a world traveler , i often find that when you asked question about anything from official people , you can be fobbed off or the person who you seek information from finds it very hard to understand your language or situation although they speak your language
What a great story with a UGH ending but still, it was so invigorating. Your journey was one of of sheer courageousness and it ROCKED. I hope the money they stole slips thru their fingers and that your money is restored some other way. This video sure is a blessing to others.
Are you serious? Half the bars in Nana Plaza & Soi Cowboy are owned by these "Boiler room" scammers. All our boy here had to do was go on the internet and do a little bit of looking. Maybe he would have found Andrew Drummond, a British journalist who has written extensively about these guys. He knew enough that he had to leave Thailand because of death threats. And yes,. these are tough, very viscous people. Three of the major players 10 years ago are now dead, and not by natural causes. Just read Drummond if you want the low down on these guys.
@@davidj.7779 Not mocking this poor guy's plight, but did chuckle when I saw the condo in Chang Mai they apparently stayed in. With the money they have to splash around, not a chance.
I am very proud of you. I have sensed possible schemes, and walked away. But none at the dollar levels you were dealing in. To go through this, and to make a video about it, is a bold step. That's why I'm proud.
T Anon 650.000 views on youtube and maybe it has been used for TV. No personal financial results in getting the money back, but maybe saved a lot of other peoples money wanting to invest in overseas companies? he made the community aware of scammers who steal a lot of money, what did your degree do for the community and how much money did it save them?...any results?
T Anon The analogy with the college degree thing does not work, mate. In college, you have almost full control of the situation. If you play by a certain rule, do your best and persist, you'd definitely get it. There are incredibly numerous of degree holders out there. I am myself a PhD holder (in Engineering) from an extremely prestigious university, and I seriously think it was a piece of cake for me to get the degree. Furthermore, it was free for me as I got a scholarship for that. Not an incredible feat, nothing to be proud of imo. When dealing with criminals, things are very complicated. It is more like you asking a date to a racist woman. The cards are stacked heavily on you. If you fail badly, it is most likely not only your fault as there are many factors involved. You are not in control to change your race, your skin color, height, or looks. On the other hand, if you are successful, then extremely great. If you are close to being successful, it is still something to be proud of in my opinion. I agree the guy in this documentary was not successful, but that did not immediately make him a loser. He is not exactly the CIA right to do this investigation work ALONE, full time with infinite resources? Yes, you need near infinite resources to catch international criminals like these. Remember that even a country with many resources sometimes could not bring a war criminal to trial. Famous examples includes Idi Amin, Joseph Mengele, and Jack the Ripper.
Unbelievable story, like a real life movie. I feel so sorry you went through that, finding yourself alone in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country. There are some scumbags out there scamming people, they will get what they deserve at some point. Well done for going to the lengths you did though, very brave and resilient.
What a documentary!!!!! It was better than many professionals out there. You managed to transmit every single emotion you felt while on action...the part of knocking their door is amazingly thrilling. Thank you so much for this piece of art and I hope I will see more from your work.
Thankyou, Keith for posting this. I think you took a huge risk investigating yourself. But, you're in a foreign country investigating. I know you're an intelligent guy, heck probably smarter than me but I wanted to say well done for your courage.
Mistake number one, trusting someone who cold calls you to sell you something! Mistake number two, if some seems too good to be true, *it is* Mistake number three, greed overtook common sense!
julie Wallis the trailer for this documentary was posted 8 years ago, and I suppose things happened way before that. I’m not sure if people were aware of such scams at that time.
Ana Maria I put the phone down on cold callers of any kind by phone however did once get sucked in to lucrative job offer as exec pa in Middle East. It got to point but smelt a rat as said I had to send private details over with no interview .. I then realised the truth in time ...I have never ever trusted internet since
It angers me to no end that scammers don't hesitate to ruin the lives of others and/or waste the time of others in order to pursue them. I can only wish for the absolute maximum sentence punishable for any of these individuals.
Finally an activist!!! When people close their accounts and let them know why then it will motivate them to do something about it. After all they can't have any competition in theft can they? Yes the banks especially HSBC are major criminal enterprises.. check into fraudclosures by the millions worth trillions and more trillions on on REMIC insurance (3 years after a fraudclosure with fabricated paper that a 9 yo can see is fake but the courts in the US accept even though no witness, though evidence that the signature is fake and signed on behalf of IndyMac Bank FSB 2 years after it was dissolved (See Judge Schack N.Y one of the few honest judges ... dead now,, hmmm guess he got in the way) oh and trillions more on derivatives... all fraud!!! No actual Note, no claim nor claimant and because I caused so much trouble for over four years they did a hurry up 14 day motion to evict me and anything left was considered abandoned... well 13 days later 30 cops blocked off two blocks 15 deputies and two SWAT teams kicked in the door of the house, broke into the garage and kicked in every hatch on every boat I had in the back yard... hmm doesn't sound like an eviction to me ... more like a hit by the sheriff who is implicated in every foreclosure as I noticed him of every filing under 18 USC 4.... So we have Banks and Sheriffs and Judges all in cahoots to steal people’s property under fraudulent and counterfeit instruments. Imagine that.... oh and I almost forgot assains. I wonder who authorized the use of the two SWAT teams and payment?? Naturally I don’t blame the police because they have been the Mfias enforcement for a long time.. just doing their job... (mispells are on purpose to avoid bootube's algorithims) BTW, may I crack your eggshell of conditioning a bit? Do you recall closing day on your Mortgage? Do you recall receiving anything of substance or value in your hand, your bank account or anyone on your behalf (such as the seller) BEFORE you signed and delivered the instruments to the agent??? NO!! Thus you did not get a "loan" by definition and in fact you are the only one who put up anything.. your signature. But you do not know that under the fiat system we the people are creditors and our signature is worth around 64B yes Bill ion. So they devise these ponzi schemes to get you to sign which is then converted into negotiable instruments and exchanged as such. Get a hold of the electronic tracking sheet if you can (stealthy like .. I use my accountant as an excuse under an alleged t ax investigation and that I need evidence of the transactions for those purposes) Oh and BTW there is no proper record or filing with the F E C as required nor ta xes paid and of course no investigation by the internal (revenue) depart ment .... hmmm As to these punks, next time try what i did... send money via maneygram only to be picked up at a particular place under a particular name... Hire your own thug squad and when they get the funds, follow them back to their hideout and raid the place force them to send out messages to all their targets about their scam and help them down the stairs with their shoe laces tied... and if a large house or compound ... well most have propain for cooking .. Did not do all that because I had not team but I did make them notice al their targets… As it turns out many times it is some poor rat in a stinky room in Africa... traced one to Haiti another to Aruba but mostly Africa and if you are white they will try to kidnap you and hold you for ransome.... So dress like covered woman. Look we the people are vulnerable by ourselves but in numbers we literally rule, so start a private go get em group and let's go get em. Then purchase some real attorneys to go after the banks for fraud, and get people by the millions to boycott the banksters. Use Credit Unions and learn how they do it, to play it back on them. In this instant you should have hired an ex-marine who speaks the language. Vets need jobs as we are the highest rate of "suicide" because we are without jobs and without hope and wake up every day knowing we went to war on an innocent population for profit of the banksters and cohorts in congress.... just like the pe do rings which kid nap almost one million a year!! Kill millions for body parts and a million more every year in murder in the womb for pay and blood and body parts. Holly wood, congress, senate, c i _ and all around the world. BTW, I am fighting the Orphans Court to keep them from evicting a good hearted man and his cats from his parents land where he has lived his entire life of over 50 years. He is partially deaf from birth, lost an eye and hobbles around, but has manages to use the land for his subsistence. His brother has contrived a way to take the property and make him homeless even though the will (he was orphaned at 9 yo) clearly made him the beneficiary. I could really use the assistance of a legal writer. So any donation would be much appreciated or assist me in putting together something on the net for donations... I know the laws fairly well and did win against a judge in the State supreme court but only after boxing them in... however I have a real tough time putting it on paper in proper form. With assistance (even where I dictate or give my free writing to them to crush down review rewrite and then put into proper format) I can get it done in a few days but by myself It takes months and I miss deadlines. A good assistant is more what I need but I have located some land close by for 90k (which for this area MD is very very cheap) and just what is needed .. land locked all wooded around and large enough to keep prying eyes and the county thugs away. Any help... I'm open to a loan, and/or property in trust (which I may do to pass it on for others in need.. etc.) or some such "investment" in helpful humanity, something even if as last resort in your name or everyone's name under contract to be purchased back etc. Once i get him and my stuff (I have some good equipment for landscaping, did contracting for 20 years and the bought dilapidated property and redesigned and did most of the building myself.. had 20+ properties all stolen by fraud..) When justice returns to the courts I am certain to win a few cases with large awards. I had no intent to share this or ask but I am so hurt and frustrated with myself for not being able to help him or myself ... and pray for him, the president and all the good people of the world daily... When I did a talkshoe for a year or so, I got calls from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland and all over the US... I'm a good teacher in splaining difficult things to people and may have helped a few but mostly due to the corruption of the judges ended up just being company and wishful =, hope and delaying the steamroller for as much as two years on average .. which helped to soften the blow. Not sure because the last "eviction" assault a lot was destroyed and funny how when they win as a direct result of my help, they tend to think that it should never have happened in the first place and they are not given any settlement but keep their homes.. so no compensation for me.... I've received a few hundred from some but at least once I had to send that and more to help them as the relentless criminals pursue them again and again with a new judge worse than the last. ... It takes up all my time so I am unable to work and now even if I did it would take me a year or so to make enough to purchase it. Grrrr, The stress is horrible and I am in need of help, hope and companionship in the process. ON top of all this I have set aside my inventions which are still really great and ahead of there time still... I can build houses out of waist material but after 10 years of renovating properties and finally getting a Large building for manufacturing in Oklahoma 2008 hit (all crafted from the beginning as it turns out).... I just can't seem to do it on my own anymore.... hard to explain but without some camaraderie, team, teamwork, assistance I just get distracted, depressed and watch long videos of others who got ripped off. .. Anyway, Blessings, good on ya mate for doing what you did and if we end up working together I'd love to put together a business to go after them. It works both ways... they don't help you and turn a blind eye and will do the same for them. "The only thing evil needs to prosper is fro good men to do nothing" I have pay pal under my email ( truthmonger6 at the g mail dot com) if you want to be anonymous and redoing a gofundme which someone I helped in a federal case put together but needs redoing... Till then all the best...

Not at all actually. Not many Chinese speak English... especially in the poorer classes. Plus why should they? Are we English speakers that arrogant to think they should? I meet lots of young Chinese students and their little English is dreadful to non existent. In regards to population... Chinese make up the most. So should we learn to speak Mandarin?
How many Americans would be able to communicate as well as they did in Chinese? God I hate when people who don't speak more than one language criticize someone that is intelligent enough to learn more that one.
I read enough of the comments to find the one that explained why the Thai Police did a 180 on you!! Duh!! After tracking the rats down they became part of the corrupt pay off/bribe system.... Sorry for your loss, but I absolutely agree with all the other commentators that tell you what a marvelous video you made. If you give me back my money now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."_
I'd suggest he have a broadcasting company pick it up and broadcast it. Not only would this further expose the scam and the corruption, it might put some money in Keith's pocket for purchasing the rights to broadcast it.
This is a classic video. I originally watched it many years ago and just returned to rewatch it. The presentation style has inspired me a lot in my own videos. I would definitely be interested in seeing you make a final update video after all these years. Even if there are no real updates about the scam, it would be interesting to hear some background behind the production of this documentary and when you decided to make it/what your thought process was.

Calling up HSBC and telling them that criminals had been using their bank for money laundering is like calling up your local mafia capo and telling him that his crew is involved in illegal gambling.
Ah ah! True.

As someone who was also scammed by a close friend and others (to the
tune of a much much much smaller amount of money than yours) I can
totally understand your feelings. And I must say, you are a kind of
inspiration to me, as you remained so calm and poised during all of
this. You were logical, and emotional, but NOT crazy and violent. I
never once heard you yell or get visibly upset. As I said, you remained
calm. I admire that quality very very much as I do not have it. I got
hugely upset at my situation, and I tried to chase after the money as
well, but even here in the USA, I was told that I would have to go to
the state of the residing offender (very far from my state by the way) in order to sue them to get my money back. It seems, that the law claims to be on our side, but quite often
instead, appears to be on the side of (or at least complacent towards)
the criminals. I too felt a deep loss and distrust in people. I have
never fully gotten over it, however, but my life too, has moved on. I try NOT to
think too deeply about it, because if I do, then I just end up getting
really upset and ultimately depressed about it... but if it makes you
feel somehow better, I just want you to know that watching your video
fully, I totally respected you, as you kept your cool and stayed
emotionally strong and calm. I guess, your video for me, taught me more
about how to handle life's evilness, more than anything else....
watching this video, you became a kind of role model for me. Thank you
for sharing this video and your story. I am deeply sorry for your loss
in finances and in faith towards humankind... but I totally understand. Please try
to remember that not all human are evil like that. (By the way, I
noticed in your emails from the criminals... that often they did not
capitalize the "I" or "kind regards". That to me says they were
uneducated English speakers to some degree, or not truly native

Lots of suggestions which are common sense (for me, anyway).
1. If someone contacts you with investment advice, first you ask how they got your information.
2. A successful fund manager doesn't need to cold call random people.
3. You can buy stocks easily yourself, all it takes is 2-3 days to have an account funded and ready, no need for suspicious middlemen.
Amazing how people can come up with 100k and yet not use any common sense when spending it?!

It’s what I said too. Read by post.

If everybody does that, the bank will be forced to hand over the criminals to the police before they go bankrupt.

But again, i wouldnt really invest anything international like that.....
I totally freeze all calls from any companies making any publicity immediatelly. I do not even get them a chance to speak.
@Kutulue
- I agree that it was fraud.
@@ver251209 Yeah I agree he probably did not handle it correctly or well.
Thanks for sharing Keith. Glad you were able to move on.
P.S. this documentary is good enough for TV; wouldn't it be good if a TV channel paid you to air it :-).
Thank you - indeed it would!
Fantastic documentary. Very well made and interesting. Couldn't stop watching.
Glad you enjoyed it.
Keithy Baby dude the guy that got arrested that joseph aint your guy.. check your emails ive messaged you

I have 40000 quid to move can you help???? awesome...
This post sounds like a load of bullshit.
HSBC seems like the shadiest bank of modern times.
Your documentary is very professional.. for a second I thought I was watching a Discovery or Nat Geo documentary..Your voice is great..
That's very kind - thank you.
Keithy Baby I concur - very professional !
Also, nice work on tracking these guys down :)
Keithy Baby
Excellent video production.
Very well done! This film appears as if it was made professionally!

Congratulations on a very slick documentary that might go some way to help heal your pain for falling into the GREED trap.
The big lesson that you learn from this is that as an Australian who wants to invest money , he should have dealt with a registered Australian company who have offices and phones in Australian
Australian registered companies are registered with a government body , the names and addresses of the company directors are also listed with the government and the government will take action if anything goes wrong .
As a world traveler , i often find that when you asked question about anything from official people , you can be fobbed off or the person who you seek information from finds it very hard to understand your language or situation although they speak your language
We will close our accounts with HSBC as soon as possible. Very inefficient company!
Well done...thank you.

God on you keith what has happened since this was 9 years ago what is the follow up are you still chasing them or have you given up?
Thai police probably took a payoff to protect this guy.
Of course they did.
T Anon He could have given up, Instead, he tried to get his money back.
T Anon Right, no results.
T Anon Edward Martin? Is that you?
That was amazing! Best film I've seen in ages!
You should watch much more Television.
I hope that HSBC has more damage now than when they would actually help him. I'm never going to do anything with HSBC.

Unbelievable story, like a real life movie. I feel so sorry you went through that, finding yourself alone in the middle of nowhere in a foreign country. There are some scumbags out there scamming people, they will get what they deserve at some point. Well done for going to the lengths you did though, very brave and resilient.
You are one gutsy fellow, Keith.

Ro Tyler Thanks Ro

Mistake number one, trusting someone who cold calls you to sell you something!
Mistake number two, if some seems too good to be true, *it is*
Mistake number three, greed overtook common sense!
julie Wallis the trailer for this documentary was posted 8 years ago, and I suppose things happened way before that. I’m not sure if people were aware of such scams at that time.
Seriously ?...such scams are as old since money exists.....
Ana Maria I put the phone down on cold callers of any kind by phone however did once get sucked in to lucrative job offer as exec pa in Middle East. It got to point but smelt a rat as said I had to send private details over with no interview .. I then realised the truth in time ...I have never ever trusted internet since
Theres a saying for this situation , it ends with "are soon parted".
hey Julie, sounds like you have led a blessed life, ie, no one ever ripped you off for anything.
It angers me to no end that scammers don't hesitate to ruin the lives of others and/or waste the time of others in order to pursue them. I can only wish for the absolute maximum sentence punishable for any of these individuals.
We don't have someone to deal with online banking frauds. Great. I'm closing my HSBC account with immediate effect.
(mispells are on purpose to avoid bootube's algorithims)
BTW, may I crack your eggshell of conditioning a bit?
I use my accountant as an excuse under an alleged t ax investigation and that I need evidence of the transactions for those purposes)
Oh and BTW there is no proper record or filing with the F E C as required nor ta xes paid and of course no investigation by the internal (revenue) depart ment .... hmmm
As to these punks, next time try what i did... send money via maneygram only to be picked up at a particular place under a particular name...
"The only thing evil needs to prosper is fro good men to do nothing"
I have pay pal under my email ( truthmonger6 at the g mail dot com) if you want to be anonymous and redoing a gofundme which someone I helped in a federal case put together but needs redoing...

Isn't it amazing how little English they speak and how little they understand when you want to report fraud!
No it's not given that it is not an English speaking country.
Not at all actually. Not many Chinese speak English... especially in the poorer classes. Plus why should they? Are we English speakers that arrogant to think they should? I meet lots of young Chinese students and their little English is dreadful to non existent. In regards to population... Chinese make up the most. So should we learn to speak Mandarin?
maybe we should learn Spanish since it's second most spoken language.
Called selective deafness
How many Americans would be able to communicate as well as they did in Chinese? God I hate when people who don't speak more than one language criticize someone that is intelligent enough to learn more that one.
